We were a large family party meeting up for Sunday lunch. The menus we were given had a choice of starter and main course for £16.95 or main alone for the same price. When we queried whether we could have a main course and dessert...More

Lovely old pub, typical old English local but it stops at the door. The place is pretentious, food and d rink both awfully overpriced. Landlord / bar man was rude and arrogant. Customers seems to be an inconvenience! The Dirty Duck was much nicer.

Visited the Chequers for our Anniversary last August after hearing lots of good things, we were not disappointed. The food was great and service excellent, we will definitely be visiting again.

The Sunday lunch menu for vegetarians is not great. There is no option for a vegetarian roast dinner (why do restaurants believe that non meat eaters don’t want a roast dinner???). I asked for a meat free dinner and it literally came with a big...More

We visited here for a friend's wedding in December. The whole operation seemed to be slick and under control. There were 2 bars available to accommodate the large number of guests and easily enough staff to prevent waiting. Drinks are reasonably priced and card payments...More
