My wife & I enjoyed a wonderful meal here having booked online. The food was delicious, particularly the crab salad starter (on special) and chicken burger. Service was excellent; very friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Food was delivered promptly without us feeling rushed and the waiting staff had a wonderful manner. Wine list was very extensive and reasonably priced, we enjoyed a bottle of Albarino and enjoyed a glass each of the Hungarian white wine as recommended by the manager which was delicious also. My wife enjoyed a couple of espresso martinis also; whilst a touch on the pricey side, they were excellent. Online booking system seemed to work flawlessly too. Looking forward to returning at the next opportunity!

We had a three course meal and everything was very tasty & beautifully presented with staff very attentive. My husband had mushroom bruschetta & I had cured Salmon, then my husband had the lamp & I had the chicken Thai curry which was delicious but having a taste of the lamb wish I had gone for that. Then we had sticky toffee pudding & the best tiramisu I had ever tasted. Also wine very reasonably. Only slight issue was feeling hemmed in & close to the people next to us but didn’t spoil the experience but might be better to take one of the tables out.

My husband booked here for my birthday as we travelling home from Scotland. Being gluten free can sometimes be a bit of a pain when eating out ...however... This place is amazing, Harvey our waiter was so knowledgable around celiac and gluten intolerance and gave me a full review of everything on the menu. Both mine and my husbands food was delicious and well presented. If your gluten free or not I would highly recommend this restaurant, good decor, pleasant atmosphere, great staff and awesome food. We will definitely return the next time we are in the area.

We booked in and were offered a table in an adjoining room at a tall bistro style table and chairs as they were full. We arrived and shortly afterwards a group of girls who were waiting for their table came in and were very loud and were practically at our table due to the confined area. We order the fish special which was lovely and the squid ink linguine which was a mistake. It was gloopy and came with 1 prawn and a couple of small squid and some mussels. As the menus had been collected I asked the waitress whether the dish should have just 1 prawn, she checked with the chef and returned saying yes! I couldn’t believe it as it was the only edible thing in the dish which I couldn’t eat as it was so gloopy. I would have said something had we been asked if everything was ok with the meal but we weren’t and although the staff were lovely, they were obviously very new.

Firstly the food was delicious and the staff delightful and I really had high expectations. I rated this meal average as I ordered the crab salad. I specifically asked the waitress if it was brown or white crab meat as I don’t like the brown meat. Having asked the chef I was told it was definitely white meat. Our food arrived beautifully served my husband’s fish pie was delicious But salad mostly consisted of brown meat! I spoke to one of the managers who then asked the chef only to be told the brown meat was called white meat!! She was clearly upset that I was disappointed and insisted I should have a complimentary meal to put things right. By this stage my husband had nearly finished his meal and I was happy just to leave it but she persisted saying we have only just opened and I don’t want to make a bad impression. Reluctantly I ordered a starter portion of Mussels, which were delicious but i had to eat on my own. Not exactly perfect but I thought they are obviously trying to put things right. I was extremely cross to find they had charged me £10 after being told it was complimentary hence my average view. My husband paid the bill to avoid confrontation if I had been given the bill I would have explained my feelings. I had hoped to book this restaurant for my husbands 60th Birthday meal and to recommend this to others at our local holiday complex but now I am unsure 😐

Only time available online was 5.30 on a Saturday evening, but that wasn't a problem. Arrived promptly, ordered and had two courses within 45 minutes, again not a problem. I asked for a small starter but it wasn't small, main of mussels was huge, this is not an issue for most but for me I was overwhelmed, however the food tasted great, portions just way too much. We had both ordered a bottle of wine, one red, one fizz, we were just sipping our way through, my husband ordered a dessert. Around 6.50 pm we were told that we had to leave the table before 7.30, I saw nothing to say that when we booked online. After that we felt that we were being watched to make sure we'd leave on time, but we just felt uncomfortable. It spoiled what could have been a lovely experience. I understand restrictions on time but wish we'd been made aware of it, even if we missed it on the online booking they could have told us when we arrived. Would probably still go again as food was good

The reviewer below is hard on the place with a score of zero, but he’s right to note the decline in quality. As a bistro specialising in seafood, they fell well short on a fairly busy Saturday evening. The gravadlax was simply awful, both in taste and presentation and no mussels for a starter meant there were none in the dull seafood linguine either…The poached egg with the asparagus starter was overcooked, as was the lamb shank. The wine list is severely overpriced ( would anyone pay £100 for a Chardonnay here ? ) The friendly service made up a bit of lost ground, but overall, very disappointing. Charming as Grange is, the food offerings in the town aren’t great and with zero taxi availability, The Estuary should be doing a lot better.

Lovely location with window overlooking the estuary. Limited and expensive menu, although that's fine when served good quality food and wine. The menu kindly points out items that are gluten free, however not a single main is marked as gf, although most should be capable of being so. The staff understood celiac but perhaps not gluten intolerance so much, and it was the first day of a new menu, which differed to that on the website before arriving. Unfortunately the service lacked those little touches you expect when paying over £40 a head, such as providing side plates to put olive pips mussel shells and langoustine bits on or bringing glasses when a jug of water is provided. The bill contained a couple of errors and although sorted without a problem, an apology or offer of a small drink to compensate would have been a nice touch, given the prices charged. If the Estuary can improve the service level to match the food and provide main dishes that are gluten free, then it could be a great place to go.

In horrible weather, after a very long day, we enjoyed the best meals we have had out for a long time at the Estuary. Both the cod that my wife ordered and the braised brisket that I had were a delight. Cooked to perfection, served with fresh vegetables and brought to the table by helpful, friendly but unobtrusive staff - everything about the evening was fantastic. If we didn't live a two hour drive away, we'd be here very often! Thank you.

We booked a table here before we set off to Grange for a short break, having been a couple of years ago when we were in the area. We found out that the new owners had only just taken over the restaurant. We dined with them on a very busy Tuesday evening, but the service was attentive throughout, without being intrusive. The food was delicious, chicken wings and salmon fishcake for starters and then a beautifully cooked steak and mussels for mains. My only minor gripe would be that the menu is quite limited but it was explained to us that they do have a specials board on a weekend to give more choice. It wouldn't stop us going back when next in the area.

We visited this restaurant on a busy Friday evening. The service was prompt but by no means rushed, extremely pleasant and we were very impressed with both the food options and wine list. We both opted for the squid ink linguine which I’d have to say we thoroughly enjoyed and we selected a large glass of the Hungarian Veltliner - you don’t often see Hungarian wines on the menu and we thought this was a perfect accompaniment to the pasta. We’d never tried this wine before but our waitress offered to bring a small sample of it to the table for us to try, which I think is always an indicator of confidence in the wine and I’d have to say this made for very pleasant drinking. We didn’t have for a dessert or starter as we were dining slightly earlier than usual, but we did have a good old nosey at some of the other dishes being served up and noted the almost exclusively clean plates making their way back to the kitchen! Overall, great ambience, lovely staff and delicious food - wouldn’t hesitate to return or recommend.

This place is stylish, clean and best of all… the food does not disappoint. My starter ( fish cake with peas).. delicious! My main ( mussels) the sauce was excellent! It came with a chips and bread, which I felt was not needed as the Mussels are the stars of this dish, however I did dip some bread in the sauce 😋..very yummy. My children enjoyed a child’s beef burger and pull pork quesadilla… no complaints.. clean plates all round.

Four of us visited for dinner on a Saturday evening, three of our party opted for fish dishes 2 x hake and lobster bisque one fish en papiot and one linguine with mushrooms all perfectly cooked .but the starters were even more impressive perfectly cooked asparagus and an egg in breadcrumb with velvety hollandaise perfectly assembled bruscheta and blackpudding and sausage with apple sauce. The restaurant was full and had a nice atmosphere mostly couples, the waiter and waitresses were efficient and friendly overall a very nice experience,

We were staying at the Fighting Cocks pub in Arnside with the intention of eating there, but they were hosting a party and were not serving food to other customers. So we drove over to Grange and stumbled across the Estuary Bistro on what happened to be their opening night. It was a very hot evening and there was no a/c or movement of air so we were a bit uncomfortable - but this is the only negative. The staff were welcoming and friendly. My husband and I both had the fishcake as a starter. Huge portion. The fishcake itself was a little loose in texture but was very tasty. My husband’s moules frites was another enormous portion, and my steak was cooked perfectly. Often asking for rare ends up with a medium rare steak, but this was properly rare and extremely tender - a skilled chef. We were too full to sample the pudding menu! When back in Grange we’ll definitely return to the Estuary Bistro.
