This has been one of our favourite places for lunch in south lakes for a long time but things have changed. Whilst the food and tea were as good as ever the portion sizes and even the size of the famous bee sting cake have...More

A very friendly cafe, that not only serves tasty food (with a great choice menu) but also has a delicious deli section. We had a nice lunch and tea so gorgeous I've bought a tea strainer in the hope of making my own fresh tea...More

Called here for lunch on the way south Lakeland. A lovely, well set out restaurant, with quick and efficient service. Nicely presented food and very tasty. A varied menu. In my opinion, not expensive. Also bought some cakes to take away for later in the...More

Nice cafe, with a quaint style, one of those wait to be seated places, with bone china cups but the most expensive cup of tea I've ever had, OK for a one off visit but not a place to visit regularly

Following reviews on TripAdvisor we travelled from Lancaster for lunch. It was worth the effort. Menu interesting and varied offering snacks, meals, sandwiches, sharing plates and afternoon teas. We chose fish cakes - very tasty; ploughman's lunch - excellent (pork pie, 2 cheeses, piccalilli, balsamic...More

very good lunch, hardly any waiting and busy efficient staff. The choice of teas was delightful too, with a highly descriptive tea menu I was a little surprised that there was on coffee choice to compliment that. Worth every penny and a definite for a...More

We enjoyed a breakfast platter for five on the last day of our holiday. It was absolutely delicious, generous portions, beautifully presented and all from local ingredients. Highly recommended. (It worked out at £8.00 each plus the cost of drinks.) The bread, cakes and filled...More

Being one of the largest cafes/bakery I've seen in a while, this can work both ways in terms of quality. However I wasn't disappointed and the small queue suggested it was popular with the locals. I had a lunch time sandwich which was very fresh...More

To the café Manager, Would it be prudent to reply to negative comments and give apologies and reassurances that where appropriate, issues would be resolved, and hopefully encouraging a return visit?

The Hazelmere in Grange over Sands has been owned by The Stubley family for 38 years. Dorothy, the proprietor has set the standards very high and only serves the best quality, locally sourced foods where possible. We have a beautiful Tea House where our meals are served and in the summer months we have the option of eating out on our front of house terrace. We also have a deli bakery on site where you can select delicious take away lunches for you to enjoy in the ornamental gardens across the road or you can eat in our take away courtyard. In the evenings from March up until November the Hazelmere turns into a very high class restaurant, booking is recommended as we do get very busy, exceptional meals produced by our very talented and experienced chefs.
Everything is made in house and our bakers make all the produce through the night so its as fresh as can possibly be when it goes on our counter. We continue to strive to bring to our customers the best products around and take great satisfaction from this. Our excellent teams of waiting on staff and shop and back of house staff ensure the smooth running of such a large business. We look forward to welcoming you to the Hazelmere !
