The Bank kept popping up in my social media news feeds and always looked appealing so tonight we finally got around to paying a visit. First impressions were good - greeted by a pleasant waitress / bartender and the food menu offered a decent selection...More

Popped in on a break from work, to meet some family for a light bite to eat. Opted for tapas, which were priced at 3 for £10 or 5 for £15 Great selection, which I'm not going to list as we had 8 different ones....More

Popped in for a glass of wine last night and decided to have some tapas. Went for the 5 go £15 and a portion of triple cooked chips. Far too much for the 2 of us but thoroughly enjoyed everything we had. Highly recommended

Decided to try this restaurant for Sunday lunch after reading recommendations and my partner and I are really glad we did. Service and food were first class. We will definitely be going back.

Popped in for a quick drink with my husband and upon entering the premises just after 6pm one of the staff members abruptly shouted from behind the bar that they were closing at 7pm, so we were made to feel like an inconvenience straight away....More

I always highly rate this venue but today they surpassed themselves. Apparently they have a new chef and the food was beyond excellent. Starters of fish cake plus black pudding with walnuts and celery were both served in an attractive manner. The flavour from both...More

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to The Bank as could not fault anything. My daughters and I chose different meals from the extensive menu and they were all very good, beautifully presented by very friendly and helpful staff. I would definitely recommend it.

The Bank Restaurant and Bar is set in the former Grade 2 listed Lloyds Bank building in the heart of Low Fell high. In November 1841 Tomas Wilson, a poet of considerable repute in Gateshead, opened the Literary Rooms on Durham Road. Created by architect Thomas Oliver of Newcastle and build by Thomas Liddell of Lowfell, the upper section of the building was used as a school for the local children until the opening of a new school on a site at Kells Lane in 1895.The building was taken over by Lloyds Bank which closed in the late 1990's. The Building has now been recently refurbished and opened as The Bank Restaurant and Bar. Providing a New Chef, New Menu and great staff.
