Visited here 4th March with family we had the 5 tapas dishes for £20 and they were really delicious and very filling. Staff are so lovely and friendly and asked if we enjoyed our meals. Drinks are reasonable too.love here in the summer too in the lovely beer garden x

Eat your heart out Heston Blumenthal, you may have a 'fat duck' but I have never eaten better duck than that on the new menu at the Bank, and I have eaten in many michelin starred establishments. My wife had an equally good Thai Green Curry, especially made to her personal taste. Additionally the service matched the quality of the food.

Just been for Tapas 5 for £22 sounds a good deal but
Meat balls made with kebab meat nothing like original.
Fish goujons made with Posh fish fingers.
Patatas bravas boiled potatoes in there skins with a sauce, same sauce as the meat balls.
Clamares not in a light batter but in a what looked like breadcrumbs.
Chorizo mm well ok.
Servers where very efficient every time a table was vacated they cleaned it before letting others sit down, no problems at all with the staff.
Its been 2 1/2 years since i was in and it will be the same again

Tried for the 1 at time on Christmas Day.
Price of lunch was £65 each which we knew well in advance and had paid a substantial deposit.
The place itself was really nice and had a drink downstairs with no issues.
Went upstairs for the lunch which was average at best . To be honest I’ve had better At Toby Carvery .
The waiting staff were great and that’s where it ended .
The upstairs manageress put a £31 service charge on the bill at the end . She also tried to charge the pre paid £100 deposit . When challenged she became really snotty and was downright rude . Can I just say she doesn’t represent the other staff . She stated we should be grateful staff had gave their day up . Here’s me thinking it was a restaurant/ bar like every other one in the country 🤔 As stated we’d paid £65 each for lunch .
Would I go back - No ! To be spoken to like that .

I know now that I should have complained when I was there but I didn’t want to spoil the meal for other friends.
Loving fish I ordered sea bass served with Pak Choi sprinkled with sesame seeds. A light fresh meal just what I fancied.
What arrived was three small completely overcooked pieces of fish fried so crisp you could snap them served on a bed of brown mush that contained a variety of overcooked veg with an Asian flavour and a few bean sprouts.
It was disgusting and I should have sent it back but we had all waited nearly an hour for our food and other people were all reasonably happy with what they had chosen. It cost me £16 !
I will not be rushing back.

As it was a special occasion we Asked for a table upstairs only to be given it in the bar. When questioned about it the attitude was shocking, where is the customer service?!
No starters were ordered. Main meals came after waiting a very long time. Once the meals arrived not one person asked if we wanted sauce or salt and pepper ( we had to get up and ask ourselves) infact it took that long for a pot of tomato sauce to come I could of nipped across the road myself and bought some quicker from the shop! In my beef dinner I pulled a long blonde hair out of my Yorkshire pudding, disgusting! Because no one came over to see if everything was ok with the meals I had to personally hand it over at the bar. Just awful! We had ordered puddings too but that also took so long my husband decided he didn’t want his. 2.5 hours in total which is ridiculous! I never will go back for food or drink the attitude and service is terrible.

Staff were pleasant and the place looks nice but that was as good as it got. Had to wait ages for food and when it arrived you could barely call it food. I’d ordered the tapas option but it was all tasteless, bland and over cooked. Most of the things being served had been deep fried and were covered in grease. I’d go as far to say it’s the worst food I’ve been served in a restaurant. We were there for 2 hours, over lunch time, we were the only customers there and not another person came in the whole time we were there which obviously shows what the local people think of the place. Would never go back.

Very slow service, no bread as described with the soup, there was spillages and food on the floor from previous night, staff seemed to be inexperienced. When we went in at 12.20 we were told they needed the table back at 14.00!! Our main didn't arrive till 1325 so we felt rushed to leave at 1400 or just before. This is our 2nd and last visit to the Bank restaurant.

We have visited the Bank for many years and have not had one bad meal but today was very poor. I’m sad to be reviewing this but would not go back for food!’ The meal was not what we had ordered off the menu, and when we queried it they would not accept it was wrong. So many other venues on Low Fell so you need to look at your menu, we were the only ones ordering food it was so quiet you need to ask yourself why!!

We booked into the Bank on Sunday 1st May for Sunday Lunch my wife daughter and myself
Our Sunday Lunch was exceptional.
I had Belly pork with all the Trimmings
My Wife had a Tapas meal
My daughter had a vegetarian nut roast meal which she really enjoyed.
All the food was beautifully cooked to a high standard.
We had drinks afterwards which was ably delivered by the wonderful friendly bar staff
Thank You for a wonderful afternoon
We will certainly be calling back again
10/10 and a Gold Star 👏

Normally have a good experience at this bar. However, booked a table over the phone with a dietary requirement. When we got there, the venue had run out of the only thing on the menu I could eat. Fair enough- it happens. However the waiting staff incredibly unhelpful, offered me half a meal for the same price, no initiative to think about what else they could offer, no offer to comp drinks. Gormless teenage waitress just shrugged when I pointed out that the weekday menu had a number of alternatives surely they could pull something out of the freezer. Had the temerity to say I should have mentioned it….. errr, that’s why I phoned! Disappointing and not up to usual standard. Probably related to difficulty venues have in securing experienced staff. Went to the Bonny Comet instead which was excellent and kindly fitted us in without a booking despite being jam packed

Another Sunday lunch visit and again quiet when we arrived but filled up a bit.
The garlic peppery mushrooms were fantastic and the main roasts were plentiful with a huge Yorkshire. The only bit that let it down were the roast potatoes which were undercooked.
The ladies enjoyed sharing a lovely sticky toffee pudding and my Mum had her own cocktail (not on the menu) made for her which got her thumbs up and no doubt helped her sleep that afternoon!!
Bit of confusion on the bill and a small overcharge which just seemed to be accepted.

Staff are great, pub is lovely. Food terrible, Tempura prawns were as expected, heated from frozen! nachos were burnt pieces of pasta! dry pieces of bite size bread! No garnish or dips to go with the food!
If your doing a bottomless brunch pay the extra £5 for a taxi and go it Newcastle

Me and my mum have been here today and sat in the beer garden with our dogs, we had eggs benedict and the traditional breakfast. Both were beautiful, best breakfast we've had. Staff are very friendly and constantly keeping tables clean. Outside area is kept beautiful, lovely lights and trees, lovely place to sit. We will definitely be back

We're so glad to hear you enjoyed your recent visit with your mum. We've been refurbishing our beer garden with new furniture and decorations this week and would love to hear your thoughts on our changes! Take care.
