Amazing food, drinks and service!
Me and my partner visited here via a friend who recommended it and we drove an hour there and back and it was totally worth it! They also change the menu every night which I think is a great idea .
To start with we had olive oil Focaccia and crispy nduja olives they were insane we ordered more.
For mains we both had the same the flat iron steak again cooked to perfection.
And desert we had chocolate ganache with a chocolate orange expresso martini! That’s a must to try of the drinks menu!
Amazing experience thanks again pics attached!

If you’re visiting Fowey then you must try a meal at Appleton’s.
We were lucky enough to get a lunch reservation on a day trip to the picture post card Cornish village.
The restaurant is modern and bright and has an interesting and varied lunch menu. We chose the Gnocchi, Focaccia and other fantastic vegetarian dishes. The food is beyond amazing! The Gnocchi was home made and probably the best pasta I’ve had outside Italy. The home made Focaccia came with a wonderland light olive oil and was again outstanding. The portions were also very generous!
The restaurant is always busy and you really have to book ahead of time, especially if you want dinner. It is also very good value for money as I doubt you could get this quality of food anywhere else at the price we paid. Our lunch including alcoholic drinks came to £60. The restaurant doesn’t add a service charge, but I was more than happy to add my own gratuity as the staff are so nice and friendly. They really made our meal even more special!
Thank you and we can’t wait to return one day!

Best meal in Fowey.
Arrived and thought the limited menu would be an issue but we were WRONG!
Went for early supper with 2 children and us adults and it was delicious.
We had steak, fish stew and ravioli type pasta as well as a kids pasta and all massively exceeded our expectations.
The puddings were delightful.
Great service too and fabulous cocktail menu.
We’ve had a number of meals out in Fowey this week and this is the best by a mile and definitely best value for money. You pay for what you get.
We will be back!

Just back from lunch. Have eaten at Appleton’s a few times before and have had excellent meals. Today was different. Starters were very good - olives, bread and rice balls.
Main courses poor. The mussels could not be eaten as the sauce was both extremely creamy and salty. We sought balance in the chips. More than half was left.
The Cray fish Caesar salad was a car crash. The cray fish and anchovies were lost in too salty bacon, much too much sauce and a mountain of strong (and salty) parmesan. Such a pity when the core ingredients were good.
Every plate was returned with quite a bit of food and although we were assured the chef would be advised we saw no sign of it; we left the restaurant paying the full bill but without management engagement beyond our very pleasant waitress.

We visited here On the last evening of our week away on holiday so were very disappointed with our final evening in Fowey. Perhaps the waitress was a little inexperienced as she struggled to engage with our party from her inability to explain the menu to us to asking if we would like wine with our meal when half way through our mains ! We ordered more drinks whilst eating our main meal but only arrived about 10 minutes after finishing our main course. As an overall experience we were a little underwhelmed & would not rush back .

You could be anywhere in the world when sitting in this restaurant, no link to Fowey at all. Pre-booked due to good ratings, our experience was quite stale. Menu was pricey (£24 for a steak), the salads we had were covered in Parmesan cheese and sauce, you couldn’t make out the salad leaves!
Service was pleasant and friendly, but there was no soul to this place and really quite pricey in comparison to other pubs restaurants in the area.

Everything about our lunch at Appleton’s was fantastic. The staff were friendly, polite and nothing was too much trouble. The open kitchen allowed us to see the kitchen staff putting together our wonderful meals and showed off the studiously clean environment. The food was incredible and each dish that came out looked like it had been put together for a special occasion. It is a shame that we live so far from Fowey that we can not make Appleton’s a regular haunt, but we shall very much look forward to our next visit.

As regular visitor to Fowey we had been meaning to try Appleton’s restaurant but owing to my gluten free diet the menu seemed very restrictive with little choice for me. To compound the problem I do not eat shell fish. My wife went to the restaurant and had a chat to Lyndsey who reassured her that if we visited they would accommodate my dietary needs.
We were greeted by one of their friendly staff and shown our table.
Lyndsey came to the table and showed me the house menu with all handwritten options for me. Several choices with a gluten free option were offered that were specifically tailored to my requirements.
A starter tempura dish was made specifically for me with a gluten free coating. A main course of a shell fish dish was replaced with white fish. A dessert was offered with a gluten free chocolate cake option.
The staff couldn’t have been more friendly and accommodating.
Owing to my special needs I invariably feel a pain, but I didn’t have those feelings and the experience from start to finish was a joy.
Thanks to everyone at Appleton’s and I so,looking forward to my next visit.

Simply put, we had a wonderful lunch at Appleton's.
The waitress who looked after us was incredibly friendly, answering questions and making us feel welcome.
The menu is the right length for a restaurant of this standard, offering a few dishes that are done perfectly.
The Cornish prosciutto was superb, paired with perfectly cooked tenderstem broccoli.
The squid Ink linguine for main was a real delight. The crab was incredibly flavoursome and the whole bowl was well presented and filled with taste. We were both stuffed by the end - full and content!
For the quality of food we received, I wouldn't consider it expensive at all, but obviously if you're looking for a £10 bowl of pasta, this isn't the place for you.
I probably wouldn't being young children here as the menu is tailored for adults, but we did see children in the restaurant and the waiting staff were looking after them well.
If we lived locally, we would certainly be back again!
A fab find in Fowey!

On a meal out with my family on our first holiday since the lockdown, coming down from Oxford. We ordered the duck and the fish stew for mains, both of which were incredible. My parents loved the fish stew; my father telling me it was the best fish stew he had ever had. My sister and I had the duck and we both thought it was delicious.
We were served by a very friendly waitress who made us all feel relaxed and welcomed, we didn’t catch her name but she had brown hair and was fantastic throughout the night.
We loved the restaurant, the service and the food - everything was reasonably priced and served with a good portion size. I would definitely recommend to anybody staying in Fowey.

Very nice new (to us at least) restaurant in the middle of Fowey Town. Decor simple, but warm and welcoming. Staff universally very friendly and helpful. The food is absolutely superb. I enjoyed the "Cornish prosciutto, pickled figs, pistachio and gorgonazola with buttermilk dressing" as a starter, a dish I would very much like to have again. The steak main was beautifully cooked and presented, and my desert, "Affogato caffe & corretto", is definitely something I shall attempt to recreate myself. Finally, the prices were extremely reasonable, particularly considering the very high quality of the food.
I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant.
Top tip: have a good look at the traditional-looking portraits hung around the dining room I only spotted them later, in the photographs I took of my wife, but the restaurant clearly also has a sense of humour!

From the warm welcome, the excellent discrete service, the calm atmosphere in the open kitchen to our delicious and original meals, this restaurant cannot be faulted and is well deserved holder of a Michelin * A fairly small number of tables and a narrow menu allows the chef to pay exquisite attention to detail. Most surprising was the very reasonable cost of our meal for the pleasure and privilege of eating here. It is not a surprise that you need to book a long way in advance to secure a table.

I will list the great points first. The staff were lovely and very knowledgeable about the food and wines. They were attentive at all times. The pigeon was flavoursome, the duck tortellini was tasty and well made. The fish stew was lovely. The bad points: Although the restaurant was not overfull, we were advised that the only table was a shelf, not in the main part of the restaurant. We accepted this, but in hindsight, it spoilt our experience and such an establishment should not even offer this seating. Food wise, The pigeon had a pellet in it, maybe to be expected, but disappointing. The tortellini portion was tiny. The flat iron steak was absolutely tasteless and chewy. It is not a good cut. Finally, I know from personal experience that the best chefs like to look at the customers reaction to the food they've created. The chefs at Appletons did not once look up to see if the diners were enjoying their meals. I think that's a great shame.

We were looking to eat at a certain restaurant in Padstow but for one reason or another we didn't go, so looking round Fowey we discovered Appletons in the High Street.
Our fiends hadn't eaten Michelin and were a little apprehensive, to say you get just a wonderful experience from the moment you enter is an understatement, the open kitchen and the front of house staff just look after you so well.
Any questions on the menu ( which is fantastic ) drinks, cocktails and wine all answered and served with enthusiasm and smiles, again the ambience is just great.
Onto the food, wow !! everyone at our table of 6 agreed some of the best food we have eaten, and being a regular Michelin user I can say this is up there with the best my wife and I have eaten.
Now sometimes value for money is called into question at these places, however Appletons is about 5 - 10% above your normal place but OMG its worth so much more.
Anyway to wrap it up just go you'll love it.

What a lovely restaurant. Nothing is too much trouble. I really fancied the John Dorry but couldn’t eat the cockles that went with it. The chef made me my own lemon butter reduction which was lovely and they didn’t have too, could have asked me to choose something else from the menu. Top rate and lovely meal. We had a lovely evening and a great bottle of wine to go with it! Thank you for a great meal and making us feel at home. Well done
