About
The bright restaurant leads out onto a spacious terrace where on a sunny day you can enjoy afternoon tea (the Cornish way, of course, jam first!), a pre-dinner glass of champagne, or a long and lazy lunch. It’s a great spot to watch life on the estuary unfold, from boats of all shapes and sizes to the local wildlife which includes resident swans and the occasional dolphin. Our expertly selected wine list is crafted to complement each course on the menu.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

What a fabulous hotel! We stayed for three nights in a lovely room with doors opening on to a picturesque river view. The food was absolutely fantastic and the service provided by all the staff was faultless. As many people have said the fact that...there is no onsite parking is a small downside but as long as you factor in the cost of a taxi to and from the long term car park this can easily be overcome, and it’s worth it to stay in such a lovely hotel. We will definitely go back.More

Food we had was delicious. This restaurant has been voted "most romantic" which I would question when you have little kids running up and down restaurant at 8pm. Not quite the experience we wanted to celebrate 40th Wedding Anniversary. Service was a bit hit and...miss especially when they weren't particularly busy. Waited for dessert order to be taken with staff just walking past ignoring us. In the end got up and paid as the moment had gone! Fir what we paid not good enough. And no we did not pay the 12.5pc discretionary tip.More

A great setting for a special family meal. Service was second to non and a member of staff even gallantly fended off the local seagulls. Ask for a table with a view when you book.

A very impressive restaurant. Warm welcome and excellent service throughout our meal. Food was delicious and the whole dining experience was outstanding. We were so impressed that we booked dinner again for Friday before our holiday in Fowey ends. Highly recommended.

I visited here with high hopes looking at the pictures of the food.. the reality was an experience of bland food that lacked enough seasoning.

We went to The Quay House twice during our week in Fowey. On both occasions the food and ambiance was excellent and the staff very helpful. The range of items on the menu is limited and it is a pity there were no 'specials' as...an alternative. Cost wise it was over £100 for 2 people. The location is lovely with the ever changing river views. We will go back.More

We ate here on the evening of New Years Day. Excellent food and service, I highly recommend that visitors to Fowey who enjoy good food try this restaurant. I have tried all the restaurants in Fowey and consider this to be joint first with Appletons.

Pros - Nice setting and good service. - Fish was cooked well and the pork cheek starter was nice - Nice wine - Beautifully presented food Cons - Food was lasting flavour and generally a bit disappointing. - Lacked seasoning - Three of the meals...(Blade of Beef, the Risotto and the beetroot starter) were very average, presented well but didn’t really taste of much Average food but did not meet our expectations based on the setting and price. Probably wouldn’t visit again or recommend to friends.More

This is a wonderful small restaurant with fantastic views of the estuary. They do a three or five course menu with three or four choices for the starter, main and dessert. The quality and presentation of the food was exceptional. The service was friendly and...professional. We felt we could take our time and enjoy every course. We did visit during the week so I guess it could be busier at the weekends. We had a table in the middle of the restaurant but still had views of the estuary and the boats. We will definitely be visiting again in the not too distant future and would like to thank the chef and all the staff for a very memorable evening.More
