Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Lovely place, friendly staff. The first time we’ve been in for years, Matt made everyone really welcome. We attended first for a funeral wake, but then had an evening meal there following that, and also returned the following evening for another meal. The food was...delicious… The chef catered for adjustments to the meal for me, and the hubby was delighted with his apple crumble as there was a very generous portion of custard with it (as opposed to the tiny jugs you can get at many restaurants these days) Definitely recommended ☺️ Hoping to return at some point to get to try the Sunday lunch too!!!More

Celebrated my father in laws birthday there. Matt and Sarah couldn’t have been any more accommodating! They were organised, helpful and friendly. The food was wonderful and they do not scrimp on portions at all! Next time, I’ll be going for the ribs!! There was...a mix of ages, from 1.5 yr old to 92 years old and they made sure that everyone was looked after and comfortable. Thank you for a lovely evening and delicious food!More

Went to the Dog and Muffler on Friday for my husbands 70th birthday. The weather was perfect and we were able to sit outside before and after our meal. The food was perfect, the staff were all friendly and very helpful. We were all very...impressed. There were 12 of us and we all had different meals. We are so lucky to have this pub in our vicinity. Highly recommended.More

We had been to Puzzlewood and were looking for somewhere close to eat and this popped up. We called beforehand and they confirmed they could fit us in. We had a lovely meal (sausage and mash, pie, curry and a panini - the portion of...fries are huge) and the owner was very friendly. We heard him making some recommendations to another family on where to visit and took his advice and visited Monmouth which was lovely. If we’re in the area again we would definitely go backMore

Rang to book a table last minute, luckily they squeezed us in. It was Sunday lunch so roast. Really nice beef and turkey, good selection of vegetables. Staff were very attentive. Lovely and clean. Very busy for an out of the way place. My only...criticism would be the roast potatoes. If you are going to roast a potato then get it crispy. Lovely outside area and looking forward to return in better weather with the family.More

We have been a number of times before and the food, drinks and service have always been excellent; it was just as good today. Being Sunday it was a roast main course along with a good choice of starters. Today I chose the Devilled Whitebait,...followed by roast lamb along with 6 types of vegetables, complimented with a pint of Butty Bach. The food was delicious, so was the beer. The staff were friendly and efficient and it was a very pleasant atmosphere.More

Arrived at this lovely little gem after booking in advance. We walked from the Forest Holidays site and found The Dog &Muffler easily. The warm and cosy feeling is apparent as soon as you enter. Staff were very attentive and chatty and the food served...was all amazing. Six of us went and the plates were all empty. The curry and pie of the day were both particularly tasty. We didn't mind waiting a while for the food as this is expected when home cooked and fresh. My only little niggle was that we booked early evening at 18.30 and my first choice option on the menu wasn't available. I would still visit again and recommendMore

First and foremost if you are a beer drinker this Inn has a selection of interesting ales. The food was fabulous, cooked to order, so if you are hungry then order the bread & olives . The portions are generous , we couldn’t squeeze in...a desert which was a pity because the sweets menu was very tempting . We chose Salmon fillet with roast Tangerine which was divine , also the Liver & Bacon which was HUGE and delicious . Lovely friendly staff.More
