I never normally write a review; however our visit was nothing but terrible.
We paid over £40 for a ham sandwich (with no additions- salad/crisps, a ham baguette (again with no additions, whitebait and a cheese jacket potato, a half of bitter, a kids juice...and half a diet coke. Would have been happy to pay the amount if it was nice and it had come with something! You could made the sandwich for less than a £1 but yet they charged £4.75!! This is day light robbery!
Staff were unwelcoming and would never visit again.More
Visited the Haven inn for a pub lunch recently.
How very disappointing . The calamari was shop bought tasteless and not worth the money at all..
The bar staff were unwelcoming and the whole general atmosphere was not something we enjoyed.
Would Not recommend this...place for a visit
Even had to pay for parking !!!
Overrated pub with none fresh food . AvoidMore
After a day at the beach, it had to be fish n' chips for both of us for supper. Probably the best we have eaten - pure white fish and superb chips. We just had to have a dessert - apple crumble and chocolate fudge...cake. Very generous portions, excellent value for money, friendly and attentive staff. Sure to be back soon.More
We used to visit every year, but obviously not recently. We had fond memories of some great lunches, following a lovely walk, but this year was a massive let down. Service was perfect, but the let down was the lunch. No longer served on plates,...but sweating in paper bags, with airplane plastic cutlery, in a plastic bag. I appreciate recent events have effected how an establishment would serve food, but if many other places have adapted to cope, I would have thought a very popular place such as this, would have found a better solution. Portions are not generous. Honestly, the kids meal from our local chippy is more generous than the £10+ cod and chips served here, and a fraction of the cost. Greed and laziness is very apparent.More
An establishment that is more than happy to board the"because of Covid" train, to lower standards to such a new low whilst raising prices
Over priced food, more than £5 for a portion of chips with cheese. Food served polystyrene containers in polythene bags with...budget airlines plastic cutlery wrapped up in more plastic. Nearly £13 for fish & Chips which comes up cold!
Unfortunately the owners will continue to thrive by virtue of the location despite having the lowest standards in the area. The plastic and polystyrene mountain that they must generate each day is a disgrace.
They have however lost the custom of many of us locals, we just hope that one day the place can be run by people who care for their customers and the environment.More
Yes, you do get your food in a bag here at the moment - it must be a Covid measure. There are pre plated salads under shrink wrap available at the cafe counter but hot food cooked to order is brought to your table, most...of which are outside and it is wrapped and in a bag.
The food we had, a pre prepped crab salad and a sausage bap with chips were fine. The salad was pretty fresh with a good selection of ingredients and the sausage was if decent quality as were the chips.
My issue with this venue is 2 fold - 1) The 2 dishes arrived over 30 minutes apart. Admittedly, the salad was already plated but does it take 35 minutes to make a sausage bap and chips? I enquired of its whereabouts after 20 mins (my partner had consumed the salad by then.) The lady on the door assured me it was nearly ready and would be a couple of minutes... it was another 15! Not great...
2) The state of the tables outdoors was appalling. They are a slatted type and bits of detritus are lodged between them which is off putting to say the least. It was obviously weeks worth of bits of serviette, fag butts, food etc. Just as bad was the fact that tables were not cleaned, wiped down between customers. There were 2 teenagers hanging around a sort of work station with sanitiser and paper towell but they were doing virtually nothing! I cleaned our table myself. There were positive reviews regarding Covid protocol for this place a while back but they really don't seem too bothered now.
This venue used to be a quaint pub with good atmosphere and decent pub grub. Since they've developed the cafe part it's become a bit of a tourist trap I think. There's not a lot of competition in the immediate area and you can't help but feel that there's a lack of customer care now.More
We ordered 2 pints of Shell on prawns and a jacket potato with beans adding cheese. The extra Cleese was charged at £1.65. It was all delivered in a plastic bag. No finger bowl or salad garnish for £11.95 per portion of prawns. We came...here pre Covid and the presentation, price and quality was far superior. Sadly another business profiteering from the pandemic. As locals and regulars we will not be returning for food.More
