I have been trying to arrange a birthday party for a relative in the forthcoming weeks. I made a phone call to the Rising Sun and spoke with the owner a pleasant gentleman and was advised that they could cater for a large party. I then arranged for the menus to be emailed.... I waited and waited and waited, still... More

There are Sunday lunches and there is The Riser Lunch! Just about the only place where 'rare roast beef' is actually red and beautifully rare. And that was Tia's dish... I just had to sample, as it looked so delish... My pan fried cod in a sea food bisque was just perfect especially after I ordered a slice of bread... More

We found this pub in Britstops motorhome book and what a find. Welcoming atmosphere, service second to none and food you just wish you could receive everywhere, such a delight. The log burners were lit, the candles glowing, all the food we had was freshly prepared and to top it all the owner came to greet us and could not... More

We arrived at The Rising Sun just after 7pm on Tuesday, as we had heard about the pizza nights. The restaurant was extremely busy and even though we hadn't booked we managed to get a table for the two us. Heidi the bar maid and Giles the Landlord looked after us very well. The menu had a good selection of... More

I was delighted to see that Giles had come to his senses and re-started the Pizza night. However I was less impressed when I received my Pizza, the meat feast is definitely not a feast. Previously I had struggled to eat it as it was fully loaded, this time I was left somewhat under whelmed and under fed. Looking around... More

Afternoon Kleads, Thanks for your comments on Pizza Night. Yes the atmosphere was great, Heidi excels as always and as for the landlord.... Overall iit's proving a pretty popular event and and numbers increasing each week so glad we brought it back. Sadly I sadly didn't see the size of the meat feast but take your word that it could... Came here with a group of friends. The service was a bit haphazard at times and the food nice, but to me, not quite as nice as some Sunday lunches. My friends however thought it was first class and were still raving about it the next day. A friendly and comfortable place, would be happy to go again.

A proper village pub. Plenty of friendly locals, an engaging, slightly eccentric landlord, attentive bar staff and a good (if not great) selection of beer and cider, including 4 or 5 local brews, with one cider made right in the village. Fish and Chips is my food barometer in any pub and the fish here is among the best. Perfectly... More

Last night we returned to The Rising Sun as we had heard that they had brought back their Tuesday Pizza Night. We used to go regularly, every Tuesday, but they stopped this promotion for some reason back in the Spring of this year so we were very keen to try it again now it has been reinstated as it was... We visited the Rising Sun last night (Tuesday) as their famous "Pizza Nights" had returned. We were greeted with a wide choice of pizzas to choose from and all were hand made, on the premises, by the head chef (Richard) and his team. There was also a choice of side salads and homemade ice creams. The service was prompt which... More
