Insane food and friendly staff, would highly recommend, traditional Italian food and large portions so good value for money. One of the best Italian food I’ve had have. Definitely be revisiting soon.

This stylish proper Italian restaurant was recommended by locals. After enjoying the Hot House Combo at Tuckers Maltings we came here for dinner on Sunday evening. A warm welcome and we were lucky to have a window seat. Open kitchen for your entertainment. Whilst not on the menu, chef graciously agreed to my request for a simple side of a tomato and onion salad which was excellent. The lasagna excelled and certainly one of the best we have enjoyed. A standard pizza. With the bill, a voucher to enjoy a free bottle of wine at our next visit! Marvellous. 🇬🇧🇳🇿

Myself and my mother came to Ricca's a couple a days ago and we loved it . Everything from the atmosphere, the cleanliness of the place to the attentiveness of the lovely waiters. The food was delicious and the closest to real Italian food I have had in this country . It was delicious. Reasonable price too. We had some breads with balsamic vinegar and oils, then a starter to share for two people which was so much we took the rest home and two big portions of fusilli al pesto and a couple of Peronis , it came to £50 . Will definitely come again.

We visited Ricca’s on a Saturday evening, really looking forward to an authentic Italian experience. We had booked, were seated quickly and everything was ok at first. Our mains came out extremely quickly after ordering (5 minutes) and once they were put on our table service became non existent. We were not asked if we wanted any more drinks throughout our meal and when plates were finally cleared we weren’t asked if we wanted anything else or a dessert menu (we would have ordered both more drinks and desserts if offered!).
I had the ‘linguine pesto Rossi’ which was bland and contained no more than 4 small pieces of chicken, along with 3 pieces of spinach and 2 sun dried tomatoes. My husband had the ‘Pollo alla Crema’ at £20 and this was extremely oily. He didn’t feel well for the rest of the evening.
Nobody came to the table to offer us our bill so I had to go up to the bar to arrange to pay. I explained we had been waiting for over half an hour and was just met with a blank look from staff. They knocked the price of our two drinks from the bill but we ended up coming away £40 lighter, disappointed and feeling quite unwell!
This is the first poor experience we have had in local restaurants and we will not be returning.

Table hadn’t been prepared for us even though we booked in advance.
Waited 40 minutes for anyone to offer us drinks, drinks arrived and a gin came in a coke glass I asked for a gin glass to be told they have no gin glasses so they poured into a brandy glass.very classy Another drink never arrived at all. I had to call staff to take our order, food came but was slammed down on the tables young girls need to smile more very miserable and obviously cracking under the pressures of being unorganised. The food however was very tasty, but no offer of Parmesan or to check our meals was ok. They took our dessert orders which came but they still had cleared the table of the mains. I had to ask for cutlery to eat the desserts with.
Staff need more training and learn to read a room, food was good service shockingly poor. This is our second time and will be our last. A table of 7 spending over £250 and only had 1 drink due to having to keep getting up to ask for some kind of service. Glad to get out spoilt the celebration. and if you want to eat and enjoy just go elsewhere that’s more attentive to customers.

A real shame that this restaurant appears to have done down hill since new owners have come in.
Visited with my wife and 4 friends on Saturday evening, initially welcome was fine but we then waited an hour before our food order was taken. And that was only because we asked if we could order. We did have a few olives on the table to start with but the waitress managed to drop one from the bowl on my trousers leaving a nice oil stain!
We had planned on ordering starters but because of the lengthy delay we jumped straight to a main course as everyone was very hungry. When it arrived my Pollo Eldorado was clearly overdone with the tortillas burnt. My wife’s chicken dish had also been overdone, the vegetables were way overcooked and the sauce was over reduced and greasy.
There was absolutely no point in raising these concerns because the food was edible and had taken so long…..we ate it.
Perhaps dessert would save the day, sadly we again had to ask for a menu as no one attended to us. It was then decided to skip that course in any case as one couple had a train to catch and there was very little time left. We had been in the restaurant since 740pm and it was now 1020pm with one course!
We all paid and left but sadly this is not the place it was.
My wife and myself have been visiting since opening and indeed visited for my birthday celebration in April when it was first class. We then visited again with another couple a few weeks later which is when we found out the business had new owners. Regrettably we left without ordering due to a totally unprofessional attitude from a member of staff that made all of us feel very uncomfortable.
Nevertheless we thought we would give the place another try , hence the most recent visit. Unfortunately it rather looks like standards are not the same and we will certainly not be in a hurry to return. A real shame as this was our go to place and we have taken many friends and family over the years.

Overall this was a terrible experience, I had made a reservation for Saturday 5th October for dinner at 8 pm with my parents who had come down to stay for the weekend. When we arrived at Ricca's we were informed that the system was down the, restaurant was running 2 hours behind schedule and it wasn't possible for us to be served. I expressed I had booked a table but was still told it was not a possibility even though there was many empty tables. The waiter was very abrupt with his response and was quite rude. I will not be returning to Ricca's in the future and will be telling everyone to know avoid it, I can't get over the rudeness and lack of want to serve and accommodate. If I could have given the restaurant 0 stars I would have.

We’ve been to Riccas many times and have always enjoyed a lovely meal and good service. However, we booked a table for 9 people to celebrate 2 birthdays and it was a disaster! We waited 25 minutes to be asked if we wanted a drink and 40 minutes to get them, the waiting staff seemed totally overwhelmed and just couldn’t cope, once the starters had been completed the waitress actually asked if we were ready for desserts, completely forgetting we hadn’t had our mains but by this time it was so late we just wanted to go. I wish we had stayed in Weatherspoons across the road. The actual food was lovely as usual so I think the management should think seriously about how many people they book in for the evenings, as the poor service ensures we all won’t be returning again.

Took my daughter to Ricca’s on her Birthday, she’d traveled from London to stay for a few days. We both ordered Lasagna. As we started our meal we both remarked that there was hardly any meat within the lasagna. It was just pasta sheets and sauce. We mentioned to the waiter, who was very polite, he offered to do another meal. However, the damage was done so we declined.
My daughter was given a bottle of red wine on leaving sadly, when opened this was like vinegar, not drinkable for either of us. Either it was ‘off’ or not to our taste.
Not a great experience at all!!

Upon entering this modern and inviting establishment, one is immediately struck by its welcoming ambiance. The open kitchen, complete with a traditional pizza oven, adds a lively and engaging element to the dining experience. The children's pizza, touted as the best they have ever tasted—and they are seasoned pizza enthusiasts—did not disappoint. The steak was impeccably cooked to perfection, while the risotto offered a delightful blend of flavors. The freshness of the ingredients was evident in every bite. To conclude the meal, the homemade tiramisu stood out as a highlight, arguably the finest I have ever savored. This is a restaurant worth revisiting.

Outstanding. Based on a recommendation, I reserved a table for 2 on a Saturday
Too many brilliant courses to describe but favorites were the Calamary, garlic bread, Gambeeoni , lamb and Eldrado,
EVERY dish was beautifully presented and perfect serviced. The flavors were so unique and I just loved the attentive service from the waitstaff. I enjoyed every minute of the 2hours we spent there and left extremely satisfied and invigorated (Tia Maria and Brandy Coffee helped!).
More impressive is the size and efficiency of the kitchen to produce such high quality mastery. A highlight of my trip to the Devon, Highly recommended.

We have been to Ricca's many times over the years and always had a great meal. We visited in June and noticed that the prices have gone up a fair bit. Two of us had chicken in the mushroom sauce and normally it would be a larger portion and served with salad or fresh vegetables, however this time we were disappointed to get microwave veg, especially when we are paying around £18 for the dish! Slightly disappointing. The staff were friendly and welcoming and good COVID measures in place.

We had a starter, and a main. We had a voucher for a free bottle of wine, which we used. We took the wine home that we didn't finish. The starter was bread and olive dressing a d was delicious. My main was a beef burger with bacon and cheese and it was melt in the mouth. I said it was my wife's birthday and they made us a little gelato with happy birthday on it. The service was excellent. The food was excellent. We didn't book. There were no issues.

As a local this was our first visit as our friends have recommended Ricca’s to us. The positives are it’s a lovely setting, great decor, atmosphere and the food tasted lovely and of a good standard.
Sadly here are the negatives. We arrived at 7.45pm and placed our order at 8pm. The starters arrived about 20 minutes later but our main courses didn’t arrive until 9.35pm!!! 1 hour and 35 minutes after arrival. We only ordered a pizza and pasta dish, this is totally unacceptable in my opinion. We kept looking to see where our food was and asked a couple members of staff but there was no real apology for being kept waiting. There were other tables around us who also had to wait this unacceptable amount of time.
Having worked in the hospitality trade for many years you would normally offer a free drink, dessert or at least a sincere apology but nothing! We would have liked to have ordered desserts and coffees but it was 9.55pm before we had finished our mains and the restaurant now has to closes at 10pm due to the new restrictions.
The bill was thrown down on the table and when we paid there was no sincerity or apology for the wait etc, it actually felt like we were an inconvenience not a paying customer!
We were also concerned with the close proximity of the tables especially with Covid and social distancing measures. The restaurant was full to capacity with hardly any space between tables, you could near enough touch the people around you. There was no one way system just people everywhere back to back. When the cutlery was bought to you it was just thrown down on the table, not placed neatly on a napkin. Again with Covid you would think this would get served on a plate for you to help yourself or pre-wrapped in a napkin.
I was really looking forward to our visit as it was my husbands birthday today but we left feeling bitterly disappointed. I would like to say we would return bit sadly we won’t.

From the second we walked in, the staff were so attentive and couldn’t do enough for us
First up were some lovely cocktails/ mocktails to accompany the baked ciabatta & oils and homemade olives while we perused the menu…. And what a menu it is, too! It takes a lot to stump me on what to have, and there was genuinely so much choice I really did struggle to pick!
So much so; our lovely host Hilda brought me an extra starter because I couldn’t choose
The gamberoni starter deserves a post on its own Tbh! It was ridiculously good!! I’d even go as far to say it was the best king prawns I’ve ever had! And I’ve been to some pretty good fish restaurants across the globe.
For main, I went for the carne picante calzone… naturally I ordered a side of fries but the calzone alone could have fed the whole family
.
It takes a lot for me to be full and say “I’m not having a desert” but I was so stuffed……until I saw there was biscoff cheesecake on the pudding menu! ….NOW THAT IS A BIT OF ME! I couldn’t say no, and it did not disappoint. Beautifully topped off with the cutest presentation👌🏼
.
From the service, to the ambiance, to the food; I couldn’t fault one single thing about Ricca’s . We will absolutely will be returning soon! 10/10 from us and hands down the best meal we’ve eaten out for a very, very for long time!
.
Thank you SO much!
