I recently had a trip back to Newton Abbot and went with a good friend to the Eastern Eye. This was not my first visit. Each time I have been here the food has been exceptional and service excellent. During this recent visit, the food...was even better than before. As usual, service was perfect and the owner a total joy to chat to. He knew many of the others dining in this busy restaurant, which is a good indication why people regularly return to enjoy the great food so often.More

Highly recommended

After many years we headed into Newton Abbott to visit The Eastern Eye which we always enjoyed dining at. So pleased we hopped on the train as We had a lovely experience from start to finish. We have never been in such an organised restaurant....By 7pm the restaurant was pretty busy yet the service was impeccable. We never once felt rushed yet there was always someone at hand if you needed anything. We would definitely recommend you try here if you are in the area.More

Family birthday meal.

This as the best meal I have had for ages. From the warm welcome at the front door to the complementary drink at the end of the meal The service was best to none , from re arranging the tables (some guest could not make...it ) to the birthday 🎉 song/dance was excellent , nothing was to much bother for the staff. The food was Gorgeous, piping hot including the plates , service again 💯. I will hopefully be going back to this restaurant again with family and friends. Highly recommend for a lovely experience all round. Felt a little embarrassed , as we all paid with cards. And almost forgot to give a tip , but would have liked to have given them more but we only had a bit of cash No service charge was added as a lot of places do that now a days. NoMore

Excellent food great service.

Superb evening spent at the Eastern Eye, the food is very good and the customer service is fantastic. All the dishes are very good. My favourite is the staff curry however this is not on the menu and not available until after 21:00 buy if...you are there after this time ask for the staff curry you will not be disappointed.More

Go to curry restaurants

Great food, service and atmosphere, very competitive and large portions. went with friends and made to feel very welcome. Free drink at the end too.

A very pleasant evening

I have been going to the Eastern Eye for over 30 years. The business has grown from a small bistro style restaurant to the large restaurant it is today. During this time the standard of food and service has remained top class. At the hub...of everything Ali keeps things running smoothly and professionally. Tuesday buffet

Tried this restaurant for the first time Tuesday buffet was magnificent- really good quality, encouraged to return for more. Polite and attentive service, charming staff. This felt very old fashioned- home cooking, great service, great value. I will be back without question

Excellent food and great hospitality for my family

We had left it late on a Sunday to find somewhere to eat with my family who were visiting and this was our last place we tried. Luckily they had space for 7 of us after my sister asked nicely as all the other places...had stopped serving food. Food was delicious and they had things on the menu for my 6 year old niece which was great. Service was good, we had a slight mishap when a coconut rice was missing, but after asking a few waiters it eventually came out piping hot. The rest of our food order was correct for the 7 of us. At the end we all had complimentary shots of sambuca and baby guinness. I asked if they had a chocolate and they brought out a blackcurrant and cream shot non alcoholic so my niece could have one which we thought was very thoughtful and fantastic hospitality. Complimentary orange slices and then also some more baby guinness shots which was lovely as we were all enjoying them so much, all on the house! We will definitely come back and recommend for familiesMore
