We decided to go here for lunch between christmas and New Year. It was a decision between here and the Brig O Turk but picked this place as it was closer to the town. I was expecting fresh, locally produced, hearty food in a cosy country pub but was mistaken. Most of the menu is fried with little flavour unless... More

We called in for lunch after visiting for a drink on a couple of occasions. The staff were helpful and friendly, giving us a choice of places to sit, keeping an eye on our table and asking if we needed more drinks, if our meal was good. The barman told me that they were struggling, as a couple of staff... More

Went with my partner for dinner. You get the choice to sit in the bar area or the restaurant but we chose the restaurant. We went about 6pm and it was reasonably quiet but I imagine during the Summer months it will be very busy with tourists. My only sort of negative comment would be that the restaurant felt a... More

Our hosts recommended the Lade Inn, and we were really happy with the food we had. They brew their own beer, and it's very good !

Visited for early dinner while on holiday in the local area. 4 people, 1 large German Shepherd. We were made very welcome on arrival which was a refreshing change when you have a large dog! This immediately put us at ease. Victor was given biscuits and fussed over :-) My son and I had steak pie, the steak pie was... More

Visited for lunch with family. There was a private Christmas party in an adjoining room, on with local music- so there was a festive atmosphere that we enjoyed. Food was good, the bar served some interesting house ales- worth a try.

Hello and thank you for your review. I am guessing by your comments that you must have been in on Boxing day as we had live music on that day and I am sorry that you thought it was a private Christmas party which is wasn't. It was open for all to enjoy. However I am happy to hear that... More

Local people were so lovely and friendly we had a great time in conversation. Locals were keen to ,introduce us to whisky instead of wine The young staff were very efficient and described the menu and description of Haggis. Haggis is amazing and anyone visiting Scotland must try Haggis. There are many variations and all are good.

My family and I love this place. Log fire. Child and dog friendly. Great home made cooking. Generous portions... traditional style home cooking. Good atmosphere.. usually some gamekeepers and fishermen also enjoy the Lade Inn to catch up with the locals. Everyone very friendly. Been a few times. Highly recommend.
