I have been going to Stratton, where the Kings Arms actually is, for over 40 years from when I met my wife whose family are from there. I used to go to the Kings Arms with her grandad but have not been there since 1980. It is still a typical local pub, but unlike my previous times there the food is more than a bag of crisps or peanuts. We both had steak which was a good size, cooked well and served with plenty of peas, mushrooms, onion rings and chips. It was very good value. We will definitely return.

We went to this pub today as we were visiting family who were staying in Bude. We found it by searching on google and the main reason we booked here was because it is very dog friendly which is a must for us. We found a real gem! The staff are all friendly and the Sunday roast was absolutely delicious. Proper roast potatoes, real homemade cauliflower cheese and stuffing balls and the juiciest roast pork all thickly sliced. Every one of the meals we had, and there were 8 adults and 4 kids, were perfect. We arrived earlier than booked and they managed to rearrange tables and serve us as the kids were hungry. We will definitely come back again! 10/10

Came across this pub whilst on a short break with my Mum and my puppy Barney. What a lovely experience we had, Mum met the Landlord outside and asked if they were serving food and could we bring in my dog ? Of course he replied, the most friendliest of welcomes were encouraging, we ordered food and when it arrived it looked delicious and so it was. The chef also came out to check all was ok with our meal, a nice touch. When we left the chef help with the getting out of the car park by holding up the traffic for us as the pub is located on a bend. All in all I would thoroughly recommend this pub.

The pub from the outside is well kept and inviting, we had read good reviews abs as we were staying a few streets away we booked a table for Sunday lunch there. When we walked in at 12.30 we were the only guests there and the greeting wasn’t exactly welcoming. We walked the children through to a very slim table (we have 5 of us) but decided not to judge and sat down. The bar man pointed us to the table and was fairly grumpy. We noticed that there was only a few selection of just roast dinners available nothing more. This wasn’t what had expected for a pub, so we asked kindly if there was a menu for children or at least a few other choices and the bar man grumpily said no, then said we should have checked before we came! Not exactly the response we would expect from the bar man. Was quite rude. We said nicely we didn’t think it would work for our family which was a shame so we may have to leave. He walked off! We decided to leave and also not go back! What a shame. It doesn’t take much for good service and a smile and friendly welcome to a family visiting.

We stopped here for the first time while on our way to Hayle for our family holiday. I'd previously rung and booked as there are 7 adults and two babies in our family but we were well accommodated and all sat together on one long table. The lady who seated us was lovely and friendly and our orders were taken in a timely manner. The food was delicious, 3 of us are veggies, 2 of us had the lasagne and 1 had the halloumi burger . The food was clearly freshly made, home cooked and was really good, nice and hot. The boys all had different meals, 2 had steaks and everyone was very happy with their meals. I'm sure we'll return in the future as we always stop somewhere on the way down to Cornwall and this is definitely one to remember. Great food and lovely service.

Was recommended this pub for Sunday lunch by two very good friends. A excellent recommendation. The hosts are most welcoming and do everything possible to make your lunch a pleasant and enjoyable experience. Their food is quite simply delicious and the Portions generous. Likewise the puddings are equally good especially the Cornish Way….. We even came back again this week as it was so good. . Thank you Kings Arms and staff see you again one day. .

We booked a table for Sunday Lunch and it was first class, very nice food. Definitely worth going into this pub for a Sunday Lunch. The prices were very reasonable compared to other pubs serving the same food. Pub was full serving Sunday roasts which is obviously is a good sign. The owners were fantastic and very friendly who made us very welcome as visitors to the area, and Definitely going back. Thank you for a great afternoon.

Passed kings arms sunday and there was a big sign advertising sunday roast available till 3 went to the bar and was confronted by a grey hair man who was really rude informing us if we hadn't booked so no roast didn't offer any other food at all and turned his back away from us. The actual place was fairly empty also some people (3 plus a young girl) went to bar and was offered food even though they hadn't booked. Food that was served that we saw was watery gravy and didn't look at all nice. Ive seen better school dinners.Would never recommend anyone going there. When we left a couple was looking at the sign advertising sunday lunch and we told them they don't do roast unless booked. They need to take their sign down and up date their website. Con just to get iyou in there to buy drink. Never again

Just had a top notch dinner in the kings arms stratton. Everything cooked perfectly even the veg still had that slight crunch that tells you they have not been over cooked. Could not recommend it more, proper job.

We went to the Kings Arms after visiting relatives in the area. What a bad choice we made. The food was disgraceful poor quality and was more like school dinners than proper pub food. My husbands steak was so tough and overcooked that he made a comment that it was the landlady's spear wellington. The tables had a nasty odour and the general dirtiness of the dining area made us feel ill. The worst element about the pub is the atmosphere as the staff are very rude, unwelcoming and a complaint to the lady who looked to be in charge, resulted in her being very rude and arrogant and she was a very sullen and openly nasty sounding person. When we arrive home, we called our relatives and they said "oh no, if you were going there, we would have told you to avoid the place". My sister explained that I should watch the "Four In a Bed episode to see just how nasty and arrogant the two owners were and boy was she right. The way they treated that poor lady who has a much better, cleaner place than theirs (after watching the show), was absolutely disgusting and I was not surprised to see that the same arrogant, horrid woman that we complained to was the horrid woman on the show. Worst pub we have ever visited in our lives, poor food, unclean and arrogant staff

We rang and tried to book in here for an evening and was told not ‘that night but tomorrow ‘ which was a Sunday . When we arrived it turns out she’d booked us the night before . We didn’t mind and the friendly staff who dealt with us was very apologetic . Next day we called to rebook and mentioned about the mistake . Lady who answered argued we were wrong ( it was over a car speaker so hubby had heard ) and promptly said ‘ I won’t be booking you in now , in a very abrupt manner ! Gob smacked was how I felt . We’d been so polite with them on Sunday night and the lady was so friendly . Disgusting attitude to a customer . Such a shame as read the lovely reviews of being friendly . Reckon the reviews are either false or very old as they don’t even serve Sunday food !

Great pub. Good friendly staff. And what’s more good pub food. We stayed in Stratton recently and visited the pub on the first night for a drink. Thought it was great. So we booked a table and returned the following evening for a meal. Great home cooked food. Good pub meals not trying to be fancy. Good food well presented and the staff were brilliant. And very aware of current COVID advice. Saw chairs, tables, bar tops and door handles being sanitised while we were there. We learned later that the couple running the place haven’t been there long and are having to cope with this strange time we are in. Keep up the good work.

If we lived in Cornwall I think we’d be here every week! What a fantastic roast and great value for money. The staff were helpful and obliging and the landlord even smiled and thanked us for our custom at the end. It must be hard work working through this tough time and we appreciate you, thank you.

Had read good reviews. Had a friendly welcome. My husband enjoyed his cottage pie, though cauliflower cheese sauce was very thin. I had fish - disappointed. A bit greasy and not a lot of actual fish.
