Went for a meal here this evening. Skewers were lovely and cooked well but would have been value for money if a side was included. Churros were delicious and home made, but sadly the doughnuts and waffles on the menu are small frozen ones and not even warmed up. Decks dunker doughnuts make them sound fresh and special, which they weren't. Service however was of a high standard and the staff who work there are very polite and attentive.

I booked the Deck way in advance as soon I knew we were staying in Bude, and I'm glad I did. The owner of our hotel said that it always gets booked up, and we saw a 'fully booked' sign outside earlier in the day. We arrived late to our hotel so we popped in to The Deck to see if we could push our booking back at all, and they were very accommodating and said we could arrive an hour later at 8pm. When we got there for dinner it was still full, and there was a nice bustling but cosy atmosphere. The staff are all very friendly and efficient, even too efficient (!) - a lady who I presume was the owner/manager was running around preparing the room for breakfast while we were finishing our meal, which did make us feel a bit rushed (that was still before 9pm), although we had pushed our booking back. The menu is very casual but the food is delicious. The ribs were cooked to perfection, and the hanging skewer was lovely. There's no wine listed on the menu but they do have a good selection. The desserts on the specials board sounded amazing but we just couldn't fit one in unfortunately! We really enjoyed our dinner here, and would definitely return if we visit Bude again - but I'd ensure we ate earlier.

Visited the Deck for our Valentines meal. It was a really nice set up and it was so nice to see couples making the effort and to get dressed up a bit. Food as usual was lovely. I had the Meat Feast hanging skewer and my wife had the Mixed Grill special. Absolutely no complaints from either of us and the food was of good portions, flavourful and colourful. Always well presented. Churros for pudding is a must, just wish there were more. There can never be enough churros 😍 We will definitely be back for another visit when we get back to Bude next time.

We went to The Deck on Sunday evening, we both ordered different hanging skewers, which were really lovely and we ordered chilli cod bites for a starter between us, as they were a large portion, starters and main arrived together which was fine and we were told about this at the point of ordering. Staff were very nice and the service was quick. So Sundays experience was excellent, as it was so good, we booked again for Wednesday as we wanted to try the mussels after seeing someone order them on Sunday... sadly they didn't have any mussels on Wednesday evening, so I opted for the deck board and my other half ordered the ribs, which literally fell off the bone, delicious. The deck board was very disappointing, the calamari was rather soggy, as were the chilli cod bites (after them being lovely on sunday) the whole prawns in their shell were so over cooked it was impossible to peel the shell off and were swimming in oil, the fish cakes were tasty but beyond dry... over all a 2/10 for the deck board which was a big disappointment, I did tell the waitress and she said she would give the chef the feed back... but nice atmosphere and again a quick service.

Went for a meal having booked but found this place nothing more than mediocre. Maybe it was on a bad night but had a waitress that had no clue about the drinks on the menu and we found the food menu itself not especially inspiring and limited through unavailability. Fish and chips was fresh but far too much batter. We ate a superb meal at Surfing Frog (we're not related to them in any way). Very surprising that this is as feted as others say. But, hey, it's a matter of personal preference, I guess.

Great atmosphere and lovely staff. Food was ok but probably made the wrong choice with the hanging skewers. Not really value for money as you don’t get a lot of the meat or fish amongst the peppers. A couple of cubes of steak and couple of smallish prawns on one and a couple of cubes of chicken and tiny bits of chorizo on the other....plus pieces of pepper to fill up the scenery. The meat and fish were overdone so a little dry. A side of corn was sadly completely dried out. In terms of vfm not good as you pay a lot for small portions of the meat and fish on the skewers. It was different so still enjoyed the evening.

We booked a table some weeks ago since this is such a popular highly rated restaurant in Bude. We arrived to find our table was in the entrance area with little room to get in and out and was unsuitable for my disabled husband. We also felt it was unsuitable being so close to the next table! We pointed to an empty table in the corner and asked to be moved. One waitress looked surprised and said this wasn't an option but then asked her superior who said that was fine. Moving onto the food - I had the surf n turf skewer which was nice but nothing to rave about - I've had better. My husband chose the "catch of the day " which we were informed was cod. He was expecting a nice large piece of fish but got three slices of battered fish. This was served with chunky chips covered with slices of chilli! Not what you expect. The fish was not great - he couldn't eat the chips as he could taste the chilli which he hates. We did inform the waitress who said they always put chilli on everything but she would pass on the feedback. After our plates were cleared we were asked if we wanted to order any desserts. We said no thank you and so were asked if we wanted the bill! We felt very rushed and think the service leaves a lot to be desired. We paid our bill and unfortunately will not be returning.

We enjoyed a lovely evening meal at this very popular restaurant, and you can see why. A lovely, warm welcome. We were offered a drink whilst waiting in their seating area for our table to be ready which I always like. No more than a 10 minute wait and we were seated at a lovely table in the conservatory area of the restaurant with amazing views. They are taking Covid measures extremely seriously and the tables were very well spaced which led to a very romantic experience. We had burgers. One beef, and one cajun chicken. We loved being able to tailor our sides and sauces. The portion sizes are very good (a huge portion of lovely fries), and we considered our meal to be excellent value for money. Excellent and attentive service all around too. Well worth booking ahead as we felt as though options for evening meals were fairly limited in Bude and we definitely chose very well with this restaurant. Highly recommended.

Whilst the outside might look fairly nondescript, if you fail to venture further you will be missing out on a real treat! The staff are so welcoming, friendly and attentive it's quite unnerving- but very nice! There was a rush of orders and a little delay on food arriving, so the proprietor apologized and presented a number of tables with olives, homemade houmous & bread while we were waiting. A nice touch. Then our food arrived and it was plentiful and delicious. It comes as no surprise to find that the restaurant appears fully booked every day. Book early to avoid disappointment.

We recently booked for a meal for two whilst spending a week in Bude. We read the reviews and thought it looked good. On arrival we were shown to our table which was in a room to the left of the door and it appeared more like an ‘overflow’ room with no atmosphere. We both ordered the hanging skewers but were really disappointed. The Moroccan Lamb was so hot & spicy it was almost inedible. Everything seemed to contain chilli, the coleslaw and even most of the puddings! The salad was the weirdest bowl of stuff I have ever seen. We are quite adventurous eaters but we’re really disappointed with the food and out of the 5 different restaurants we went to, this was the only disappointing one. On a positive note, the staff were really friendly and welcoming but the food was a big let down

Booked the Deck while staying nearby for family 70th birthday. Excellent experience from start to finish. The dreadful weather meant we could not eat out on the deck, but the staff were very helpful in setting up a room for our party inside. Food was top grade, and plentiful and young and old alike all said that their meal was exactly what they wanted. All the waiting staff were very kind and I cannot recommend this place highly enough.

We were lucky to get a last minute early table here having called up on the day. The lady on the phone and all the staff who served us were lovely, so friendly and welcoming. While we were there one of the waitresses took the time to go out in the rain and help an elderly couple who were booked in and having trouble parking, and then gave helpful recommendations on other restaurants to another group who walked in when it was fully booked. As for the food, also exceptional. We shared halloumi fries, smoked duck bites, bread and hummus, and two skewers - surf & turf and chicken & chorizo. Followed by white chocolate orange cheesecake and dunkin donuts with waffles and toffee sauce. Wow. All of it was delicious. Highly recommended and many thanks to a great group of staff for a very enjoyable experience.

Poor staff attitude and no one answers the phone. Came here on holiday was recommended by the locals to eat here but could not get through to book at all so walked up and waited but staff had bad attitude advised were fully booked at 6pm but only open at 4 and close at 8pm??? Told staff we tried calling all day but no joy. Called again following day no joy and was hung up on twice. Answered once and was told that we need to book 3 weeks minimum in advance and that they can’t even accommodate a takeaway ?????? Was hung up on when explained we were on holiday and couldn’t book in advance. Then was told by a couple in our hotel that they had dodgy tummy from eating there?? Do not recommend

Last day of our holiday and decided to treat the wife to a nice meal. The person on the phone when I booked was very happy and helpful, and was the same person to greet us and take us to our table. The service from all the staff was excellent and again very friendly. The menu was not extensive but had enough choices to make you think " what do I really want ". The food was very well cooked and incredibly tasty. I had the rack of ribs, which just fell apart, and it was a full rack of ribs. The wife had the deck bites which again were cooked to perfection. I would recommend here to anyone and if I am in bude again will definitely go back for more.

We were welcomed by friendly and enthusiastic staff, they showed us to our table and then explained the menu. They don’t have starters as they bring all the food at once as you can opt for tapas style dishes. Good choice in the menu. The hanging kebabs were tasty and good variety of sides that can be chosen to accompany the kebabs. Good portion sizes for the mains, all left with full tummy’s and no space for dessert. A definitely recommendation if staying around the area. Well worth the visit!
