Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We came here for Sunday Lunch after reading good reviews. However, I have to say the waiting staff leave a lot to be desire. We arrived 10 minutes early for our table, which wasn't a problem for us, as we were happy to wait. We...were seated and told we could not have a menu to look at yet, as we were too early! But, we could have a drink. The staff consisted of a bunch of young girls who clustered by the bar, there seemed to be no restaurant manager or Maitre D. There were multiple mistakes and inept behaviour by the staff during our meal, which I won't go into here. But overall, I got the impression, the staff are poorly trained, lack confidence, and most of all need to put a smile on their faces. It looked to me as though they were hating every minute of the time they were there, either that, or they had just had a fight amongst themselves. Smiling and being pleasant costs nothing. We always leave a tip, but on this occasion it certainly wasn't justified. By the way, I was also irritated by a bottle of water put on the table and then having to pay for it. It should be made clear at the time of giving it. Also, the one thing that was really was annoying was myself and my partner being charged £1.50 each for a Yorkshire Pudding, as we had a Roast, but not the Beef. It's not a cheap eats place, but this meaness and the attitude of the staff, will mean we will not return.More

Absolutely delicious food. Super choice on the menu, but not too much that you spend hours deliberating! Great service and lovely atmosphere.

Enjoyed Sunday lunch in pleasant surroundings. Dog friendly, good service, & a nice ambience. Slightly pricy but we knew that before we visited. Nice touch was to serve a very hot jug of gravy first, so you knew your roast beef was on the way....Very tasty beef & plenty of it.More

Lovely location, food was average, drinks were overpriced. I felt it was cheeky to charge £18 for fish and chips and not provide peas or some sort of veg. However this food was very nice. Water was on the table and wasn’t stated we would...have been charged for that as menus were not on the table when we first opened it. Seems cheeky with the prices to be charging £3.95 for bottled water that they clearly just refill. Found the flannels in the toilets tacky, felt dirty seeing a laundry basket filled with dirty hand dried towels. Would be hesitant to return here, and wouldn’t recommend to others. Got a lot of potential but feels like they’re trying to be something they’re not.More

Oh dear. I went for Sunday Lunch in August and I could not fault this pub. It was so good I recommended it to my extended family. Went there for Saturday lunch very recently and the service was atrocious. We all ordered one course and...it took 1 HOUR for the food to arrive. Not good enough Wellington - you need to up your game as this was very embarrassing for me considering my recommendation. Food when it finally appeared was very good though.More

This restaurant was exceptional - the food was absolutely excellent - one of the best pub type restaurants we have ever visited - all the better for the friendly staff who served us. The menu was extensive - the various bars were full of atmosphere...- it was an unexpected experience for us - had we been staying longer in the area we would have dined there each night!!More

Have been recommended this pub for some time, so decided to go for Sunday Lunch. The place is absolutely impeccable. Delightfully polite and helpful staff who went out of their way to give me something that was not on the menu and it was delicious....I would say that the Wellington Inn is up there with some of the best pubs in in East Yorkshire, and that includes the one nearby with a Michelin star !More

Frightfully good. We went on a couple date, services was spot on. We had 3 courses each and all was loved . One of the the things was how it’s a nice relaxed pub and yet proper posh food. Clearly All made as ordered. We...would certainly go again. We had a great evening.More

Visited on two separate occasions, once as a family and once as a group of 15. Amazing food, and a varied selection on the menu. Would highly recommend, especially for a special occasion!

This was our first visit, and it didn't disappoint. We received a warm welcome upon arrival, and as we were a little early for our booking, we had a drink whilst we waited. This lovely pub is full of rustic country charm. The food was...amazing! The serving staff are so friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed our first visit. We thought it was good value for money, and we were all full. We will most definitely be back to visit this little gem.More

we picked here after having a drink a few weeks ago. we loved the feet, like an old traditional pub yet we had heard the food was really good.... we booked with another couple on what is becoming a monthly outing for us. welcoming staff...greeted us. we were shown our seats and browsed an extensive menu. we knew it was priced at the higher end of our price bracket but also wanted to make the most of this experience. between us we had Korean salmon, duck parfait, scallops and soufflé for starters all were great we all enjoyed them. I ordered the duck for main, it was lovely if a little small. the cow pie was received very well!! and maybe next time id splash out on the steak. desserts all round, I had th price pudding which came with an amazing little pecan tart it was spot on. overall we loved it, its a great location and what we would call some where to experience. it doesn't get 5 stars just as it is expensive and I wasn't completely stuffed...I am a bit of a piggie though.More
