Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We've been on holiday in the area for ten days and this was by far the nicest cafe we went to. Had the Mediterranean platter and it was really delicious, especially the homemade bread. Locally sourced ham and cheese, nice warm falafel, couldn't have asked...for more. The staff were warm and friendly, and clearly enjoy working there, which gives the whole place a wonderful atmosphere. Great coffee too.More

This is a place I regular visit when I’m in town. The food and service is impeccable and nothing is too much to ask. I particularly love the books and cafe approach as well as the fact that this organisation gives so much back to...the community providing career opportunities for those with learning difficulties or disabilities. Keep up the good work!More

I adore this place! I can't say enough about it! The scones were amazing and my breakfast was wonderful. The coffee was great. The service is friendly and local. I bought a ring from a woman selling jewelry in the restaurant. Dogs were welcome. It...appears to be in an old church or hall. The ceilings are high and the space is very airy. The Hub supports local farmers and food producers, artists, and special needs individuals. There is art for sale downstairs and I think classes are taught there as well. It's such a lively vibrant place. I picked up a wonderful watercolor by Steven Taylor as well.More

Visited today 23/12/22 for lunch with my wife, sister and hubby and my Mum. My sister is a resident of Appleby and a regular ! Lovely setting in the centre of town and easy parking. The cafe is situated in what looks like an old...school, or church, hall and is part of a community complex that house a small shop and craft centre too. It’s extremely welcoming and has a great menu for a cafe. The table settings are lovely and the mismatched chairs and table, along with the crockery makes it very quirky. Love it !! As for the meal, the specials of chicken and Parma-ham Wellington, and Nut Roast were out choices, mum had a cracking looking portion of scrambled egg. The food was beautifully presented and very very tasty. It was accompanied by a glass of mulled wine and a Xhristmas Cracker too… Plates were finished and clean enough to put away straight away such was the tastiness. A few minutes pause and desserts were had. Huge slices of Christmas cake for the ladies and Christmas Pudding cheesecake for Dave and I. Accompanied by a huge pot of tea in an antique teapot, who doesn’t hate those aluminium ones??? All in all it was a lively time It was busy while we were there and a really nice atmosphere. Dogs are obviously welcome too which is a boon in this part of the country. A must visit and somewhere we will have to visit again ThanksMore

This was a lovely surprise, we were looking for somewhere to have our last meal of the holiday. Entry was through a side door into an airry open space, a sign asked to wait for a table. we were escorted to a table and presented...with the menu. A good veried chose, healthy and I had bacon, sausage egg and brilliant small tomatoes on toast. Well cooked "hot" and very tasty. The meal was eggcelant. Staff happy friendly and helpful. I strongly recommend this restaurant.More

Beautiful home-made food in a delightful, converted chapel with contemporary decor. Always a hot daily special or two (I opted for Homity Pie), delicious salads, build your own sandwiches and wicked cakes and deserts. Excellent value for money and very friendly an attentive staff. While...you are there, have a look at the craft centre and second hand books.More

We stumbled across the Hub when having a day out in Appleby. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The food was fabulous, sadly we didn't have room for the lovely cakes they had. I had a mezze board which was so tasty and my...husband had a burger which he said was great. Quite a big place but lots of tables were reserved as it is clearly very popular. Highly recommend.More

What a find! We were heading along the A66 and made the extremely sound decision to stop In Appleby. There we had some unusual soup, Celeriac and Truffle, and we were given the choice of a roll or cheese scone. So we chose the scone;...it was all delicious. The restaurant is a community centre with such a great friendly atmosphere. Definitely to be highly recommended.More
