Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Dropped in for a quick drink after a walk and got a lovely welcome and a good pint. The food coming out looked great so we went back a few days later for a fireside dinner. We had really good homemade soup and pies. Very...friendly little pub, we will make a point of going back next time we're in the area. I find Angela J's review rather odd as 'he' doesn't do the food, 'she' does and it's delicious!More

We visit from the South regularly with our most recent visit being over the Easter Weekend. Whilst at home we wanted to book somewhere for Easter Sunday lunch ‘like mum makes it’ and it just had to be here. If you want a home-made, gorgeous,...fresh Sunday lunch with an array of vegetables and trimmings with a warm, welcoming service then this is your place. Topped off this Easter Sunday with another couple of drinks in the arm chairs by the fire, with pub dog Ada at our feet. Thank you Arron & Carolyn for helping to make our Easter Sunday special. We can’t wait to come back on our next visit.More

I think Angela J was reviewing the wrong pub as she couldn't be more Wrong, In My Opinion !! Landlord & Landlady were both very friendly & welcoming when we called in on Saturday as they opened. Great, cosy country pub well worth stopping off...at. We sat near the lovely open fire which was appreciated on a cold windy day. Lovely atmosphere and our lunch was outstanding. The Landlady makes everything fresh, her homemade soup was Amazing and our sandwiches were fabulous with great salad & Crisps on the side. Don't drive by, pay them a visit.More

Possibly the worst meals we have ever eaten. This guy cannot cook! Bits in bottom of beer glasses too. An expensive disaster. Disappointed to say the least.

We strolled towards the end of a rainy walk and weren't we glad we did! What a lovely surprise. Good beers, fire on and exceptional hosts. We were welcomed and catered for better than any pub we’ve ever been in. Don’t waste your time with...any tourist information centres, if you want the best advice for trips and local tips then get yourself here. We throughly enjoyed our fleeting drop in. Oh I almost forgot, the beers were lovely. We didn’t have time for food but would definitely return!More

Great stop off in our campervan. Beautiful picturesque pub in an amazing setting. Amazing home made food and extremely friendly and welcoming service. Great to see a steak pie that was actually a pie, and not a stew with a puff pastry lid! Couldn’t recommend...the place highly enough.More

Had lunch here previously, but never an evening meal before. The food was excellent, both my Thai fish cakes and my wife’s lasagne couldn’t have been better. Good selection of beer, lager and cider with a well kept cask New Zealand pale ale too. Friendly...landlord and landlady. Dog friendly as opposed to dog tolerant. Couldn’t be faulted, we shall return.More
