Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Booked a 17.30 slot for dinner with my wife and well behaved dog. Lovely polite staff made sure everything was ok from start to finish.. The food was piping hot and very reasonably priced too. Will definitely return!!

Sat in the beer garden with the dog. Staff very helpful with tricky dog, staff very friendly. Sandwiches had too much sauce and fish finger sandwich was fish goujons not fingers, and too much tartar sauce. Lasagña was lovely, very hot and very nice.

We arrived about 6 pm after a long drive to be told we would have to choose and eat before 7 as there was a charity quiz. We didn’t have enough time for this and went into the small town to find somewhere to eat....The other pub didn’t serve food and the only restaurant was an Asian one which we didn’t want so we just had a beer and a bag of crisps. Knowing we had not eaten I would have appreciated a plate of chips which was being served as part of the quiz night. We would gladly have put some money in the charity box.We weren’t even offered this ! Breakfast was mediocre with a few packets of cereal and orange juice- no fruit or yogurt which is fairly standard these days. The cooked breakfast which my husband had was OK. The room was adequate and clean.More

Stayed here in April 2024 and was very warmly welcomed. Our dog was given a treat as we arrived and was allowed anywhere in the hotel. The staff were friendly, helpful and professional and breakfast was plentiful, with a wide range of food, including vegetarian....Room 1 was a good size and was spotlessly clean and the en suite was almost new. Will definitely recommend to friends and family and will definitely return.More

We came across this fabulous place whilst visiting for the day. What a warm friendly greeting we received on arrival! Very dog friendly our little French Bulldog loved it too! Delicious scones , excellent friendly service. Great to meet the lovely Irish guy who was...so worried he’d frightened our dog when his stool overturned, he was so apologetic and kind , our dog was completely unfazed but revelled in the attention she got! Will definitely return xMore

Absolute gem of a bar/hotel. Charlie and Rob were very accommodating and nothing was a problem. The accommodation was spotlessly clean and everything you would need to make your stay comfortable. A fantastic place to stay, drink and eat. Accommodation is very nicely presented, modern, fresh and comfortable. The bar offers a good range of drinks and local ales and staff (Rob and Charlie especially) are lovely. Breakfast the next morning was the 'icing on the...cake'. Excellent full English breakfast. Highly recommended place to stay.More

Stayed here for two nights bed and breakfast with a travelzoo voucher and we were very happy with our accommodation and service. The building remains traditional although has been modernised to a great standard, the bedroom was spacious and comfortable and the bathroom nicely equipped....We also had evening meals which were delicious and generous portions (no room for desserts), breakfasts were cooked to order and very filling. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly, we look forward to returning there and recommend it enthusiastically.More

My partner and I have popped into the bar a few times with the dog. My dog absolutely loves it in here, the staff are all friendly and go out of their way to make a fuss of him. We love the fact that there...is a dog menu and my dog loved his beef burger. To be fair he’s the only one of us that has eaten here, so we can’t comment on the human food. We plan to have a meal here in the near future.More

We stayed in Crown Cottage, which was lovely and had everything you needed, felt homely. We had breakfast both mornings and evening meal one night. Food was lovely, plenty of choice, and staff were always friendly, helpful, and chatty. Also dog friendly.
