Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I stayed for 5 nights. Saw there were some mixed reviews, so didn't quite know what to expect. However, I was pleasantly surprised and it turned out to be just what I needed. I know Wetherby and chose the Royal Oak for its location. I didn't have a car and it's easy to get to Leeds and Harrogate on the bus. The room was quiet and spacious with plenty of light and private shower room. Soap, shower gel and shampoo provided. Bed was comfortable enough. I particularly appreciated the fact that there was a kettle, crockery & cutlery, tea, coffee, milk & sugar. On the down side: couldn't regulate the heating so sometimes had to open the window, Wifi worked but signal was weak in the room. TV wasn't working very well but was told this would be fixed. Cleanliness - room for a bit of improvement in the bathroom. Pub's rubbish dump at side of building a bit of an eyesore... Only went to the Pub downstairs once which seemed quite cosy and friendly. All in all, excellent location and value and would return.

Booked for B/B through Agoda, the cost for this booking was taken days before the cancellation date, rather then paying on the day, on arrival we were informed that breakfast was not included, even though the ad stated breakfast. There was no teabags or milk in our room, for a hot drink only coffee and sugar, there was nobody about to ask for the missing items as it was 6.30am when we realised, so just left in disgust at the whole experience, the pictures that are shown on the advert look better then the room when had, which had old furniture and the carpets needed a good clean. Very disappointing experience.

when we arrived we were informed there was no breakfast as advertised and also they didnt do food.the best was yet to come in the bedroom. sheets that looked like they were from the seventies, blue flowery and certainly hadnt been laundered since last occupants had used the room, they were creased and smelly, curtains were hanging of the rail,a really unpleasant experience. i was tempted to leave ten pounds for them to buy two sheets from tescos.

Booked a room for two nights over the telephone, arrived to be told no booking. Spoiling a complete bank holiday weekend getaway and our plans. Incredibly disappointing.

The lady behind the bar is an absolute disgrace. She is Rude and ignorant and really should re-think her career choice to mabey stacking shelves or watching paint dry, ANTYTHING that doesn’t require interacting with other humans! The last time I checked you went to public house to be greeted with friendly warm staff and receive excellent customer service! Word of warning, choose another pub, there are plenty in wetherby, so avoid this one like the plague. Don’t think the lady that works there likes new customers or god forbid you play pool on the pool table provided! It’s the 2nd time we have been and it will definitely be the last!

Friendly old fashioned pub. Unfortunately they put man’s football on, (will they show the women’s world cup next month I wonder?), very loudly. No warning sign to say that our drinks would be dominated by such a dim. 1 bottle of wine with no cooler (so got warm quickly) plus an orange juice and half a diet coke came to £17 which was your usual expensive Wetherby price. I was a bit disappointed by the overall experience - but it’s not far from the Park so maybe see if they have something a bit better value for money? I did like the fact it was dog friendly and children were welcome though

This a traditional Yorkshire town pub. Nothing special or unusual about it, but just a good pub. Very traditional style inside and very clean. Friendly welcoming service and some very nice real ales. This is what a Yorkshire pub should be. They also do food & accommodation but I was only here for a pint. And I will be back.

.......and it's friendly, warm, welcoming, and has a good selection of beers and lagers from cask and keg. Dog friendly, too - there were three or four wandering about; nice to see, The pub looks well-kept. I'd go back, given an opportunity.

Spotless room a good pint followed by a good breakfast does not leave much else to desire. A two night stay was value for money and the Manager, Scott, the staff and locals made you very welcome. Would stay there again, there are only three rooms the only disappointment was no food available in the evenings although the web site shows a menu. No problem as there are other eateries nearby.
