Ended up here after our first choice - Jackson's Bistro was already fully booked. Really busy the night we visited - lucky to get a table and ended up with the manager serving us. Good food, specials board definitely worth a look, good value (even better when a mistake with the wine order meant we got the bottle for the... More

Decided to eat here but wasn't overly impressed. Staff where not rude but not over welcoming which I didn't mind some people may. I ordered duck for my main which it come with a pet hate of mine not mash but smash! Am not being funny but if you eat in a pub you can maybe put up with this... More

Once again we are subject to the comments of an ignorant food critic who obviously has very little knowledge about cooking techniques. Our mashed potato is made in our kitchens by our very hard working chefs who actually peel and cook the potatoes before passing them through a moulin to create a smooth consistency. You are obviously unaware of what... More

We had dinner here and there were so many things to choose from! I had the Camembert to start and risotto for main. The only thing I thought was strange is there isnt a great deal of difference price wise between the mains and the starters. The food was delicious though. It is a good idea to book in advance... After failing to get at our first & second choice restaurants in town thought we'd give this one ago. Found it really difficult to choose something off the mains menu, would've had a steak but was having one at the weekend. Plumped for the king prawns with chilli dip & cumberland sausage made with apple & stilton on a bed... More

We always visit when in Bowness as this is our favourite pub, especially as it is dog friendly. There is always an excellent selection of real ales on, and they do the best ploughman's we have had, beautiful ham, cheeses, pork pie, boiled egg, breads, grapes and so on-a feast!

Very busy hotel and restaurant, probably best to book in advance, we were lucky to arrive just as a table became free! Food and drink were ordered at the bar from a varied menu and delivered to our table quickly by very efficient and friendly staff. The food quality and presentation were excellent. The Angel Inn is an old hotel... More

Me and 5 friends visited here for Sunday dinner. We sat in the restaurant section, there were a lot of staff milling around yet you needed to go to the busy bar to order where the staff seemed harassed and rushed. Upon ordering we were told that the waiting time for food was over an hour. We decided to stay... More

We recently came to the lakes for a weekend with another couple and we loved it here. The food is always tasty and the specials always offer something tasty to try. The cask ales are varied which is always a winner with our group. Staff were very pleasant and aimed to please.. Great place to visit if your in the... More

We stayed in Bowness and ate here for the night. The service was excellent; the staff were very welcoming and attended us well. The food itself was top quality, we had the Ploughmans Platter and the Cod and were very impressed. The only downside I can think of is that the pastry of the Lemon Tart was very hard but... More
