A look at the varied menu and the prices its popularity was understandable. Bosun's Locker is a small, intimate café/bistro situated by the lifeboat station with a wonderful view of Piel Island and its stunning castle.... More

We have recently moved into the area, and this cafe was recommended to us by one of the locals. Do not be put off by how it looks, but go inside and meet the friendly staff and eat the good wholesome food at reasonable prices. We were very pleased with this find and will certainly go back again. It says... More

A group of us booked a table for Saturday lunch. I had liver and onions which came with a separate bowl of vegetables. This was delicious, and very filling. Other members of the group enjoyed their various choices. The meals arrived promptly and were fantastic value for money. Will be going again!

We have eaten here many times previously and always been entirely satisfied with our visit, usually an excellent service with lovely flavoursome food. However on this occasion we visited for a late lunch after a visit to Piel Island. The food looked and tasted good, however on eating my salad I discovered a dead flea in it, and therefore left... Does not look much from the outside ....and can get very busy ! though you can book a table .... very varied menu with a decent list of specials on the blackboard Not fancy dining , but good fresh food , large potions , good selection of modest priced deserts too :)

Lunch of pea and ham soup with warm fresh rolls....delicious. Very satisfying on a cold November day and price very reasonable. Will definitely eat there again next time we visit the Lake District.
