As we call it in Yorkshire,we had garlic mushrooms which were very nice. We waited about 15 minutes for our roast but it was busy and like someone previously said you don't want it arriving after two minutes. The roast beef was perfect and we'll...worth the wait.More

I went to the Duke for a meal with friends earlier in the week. Can't fault the food at all, it was all lovely The service, unfortunately, was not as good. We had interactions with several different members of staff, all seemed fairly disinterested. We...weren't asked if we wanted a dessert menu when the mains were cleared, so when we asked 25 mins later, we were informed we might not be able to order any as the kitchen was closing. We were able to order them in the end, but we were on the verge of leaving to go somewhere else to finish our evening off. We were the last group in there and they clearly wanted us to leave....but instead of just politely saying they were closing they just shut the place up around us, pulling the blinds down, etc. We won't be rushing back, which is a shame as the food really was great, it was just the service that let it down.More

We were passing and stopped off for lunch. Service was a bit slow however I would rather this than after sitting down your meal is served after two minutes. A fantastic selection of beers, wines and spirits to chose from and staff are extremely helpful. We...both ordered Sunday roast which was superb . Am pleased we did not order a starter as the mains are fairly large. Definitely recommend this restaurant and will have to try it midweek.More

Nice place to eat, downstairs away from the busy bar area. Menu was slightly different to the Online version. Took forever to get our first drink and that echoed the service thereafter, slow, slow, slow. Food was really nice but the waiting staff, there only seemed...to be one , was constantly busy and therefore wasn't very attentive. We weren't once asked more more drinks by the barman who was wandering round. Location great Food great, service seriously needs to up their game.More

We booked a table for a group of friends expecting to be in the bar or the back room, however they have an area called ‘The Vault’ and whilst it works, it really does feel like a Vault. The good news is the food is...excellent ….. & there is a superb selection of beers … ….. the less good is the service is slow, both taking orders and bring drinks. Empty glasses and plates weren’t removed from our table, we had to ask for extra drinks, we weren’t offered a Dessert menu, all little things that together, along with feeling like you are stuffed away in a ‘Vault’, took the gloss off the evening. Maybe one more staff member downstairs? Don’t get me wrong you can have a good night here, but just a little extra from the management in supporting what is obviously a great kitchen, with a superb selection of beers & it’d be an excellent venue.More

I arrived here saturday with my daughter ,saturday afternoon. It was still busy after lunch . We were seated by Karen and served drinks . We ordered fish and chips ,served with salad mushy peas , sauce . I had battered squid rings ,lightly battered...chicken with salad and sauce ..Absolutely delicious , hot ,tasty ,great value. Thank you Adam and Andy . The downside Karen told us she was leaving ,she will be so hard to replace !! SHE can work the huge dining room almost single handed, giving excellent friendly service consistently . Thank you for making all our visits a joy . 💜More

I'm not sure I think bar meals are available in the afternoon but best call them directly.
