So I walk into this place and ask the short-haired woman behind the counter if I can have a coffee. She replies, 'Sure, take a seat. I' ll come and take your order.' I walk into the seating area and do as instructed. I can...More
Definitely in the running for the least welcoming place we’ve visited, this place caught our eye after a visit to Durham Cathedral. Couldn't ask for a better location, as it’s situated at the side of the quad, opposite the Cathedral. This is a UNESCO world...More
Decent cafe on Palace Green, but there are very few tables outside which tend to be never free. The coffee is good, so are their soups. Give it a try if you're in the area and in need for a break. It's rather loud, so...More
On first sight this place is unwelcoming. A rather sad looking selection of cakes was on show, and then you go into the café itself and the décor is uninspiring and rather depressing. Hardly service with a smile, and another table got our drinks, but...More

I had wanted to visit this cafe for a while as it has good views of the cathedral. I visited with my auntie from NZ and was very disappointed. Coffee was lukewarm and weak. Tea was just milky water. A real shame.
Supposedly this Cafe is table service, but there are no menus on the outside tables, and you only find out that it is table service only when you go inside to see what is on offer. Once armed with menu you have a long wait...More
Had nice enough drinks but the service was rather slow and the cake rather ‘end-of-dayish’ and dry. The view outside is stunning so for a short refuelling stop it is definite worth it, but there are other arguably better coffee shops to go to.
