First visit with friends- lovely night had by all. Food vegan/gluten free options, staff didn’t make us feel awkward asking question about the menu and were happy to chat. Felt safe as well we will return.

Fantastic & authentic Mexican food We visited here as a family mid week after a day out at Beamish. Booking process was straight forward and received a courtesy call prior to our arrival to advise on their a Covid policy which I thought was great. Service was excellent and great value for money. We all had starters that arrived swiftly and our mains where all fantastic and brought out without much wait in between. Great menu for Gluten customers and we can’t recommend the vegan salted caramel cheesecake enough!! A perfect family meal.

Amazing food, service and perfect for our group outing. The waitress was very attentive, flexible and went out of her way to ensure that everyone was happy. I would reccommend this to anyone looking for somewhere to go to for a catch up with friends over a super tasty and well priced meal!

My first visit to Tia’s after the couple weeks were out with recommended. We had booked in advance and I had talked to them about the gluten free menu and cross-contamination risks…always a concern for a coeliac when eating out. I need not have worried, they were amazing. The food here was the BEST gluten free food I’ve had in a long, long time. The GF garlic bread with cheese was perfect - the chef needs to sell that recipe to us coeliacs!! I had the steak hanging kebab with hand cut gluten free chips - absolutely gorgeous, the steak melted in your mouth, the chips were fluffy in the middle and crispy on the outside…. Definitely my number one choice for food in future and would HIGHLY recommend to anyone and certainly to anyone needing gluten free.

A gem of a find. Lived near Durham most my life. This little gem is hidden up Claypath and I’d never spotted it before. The food is delicious. Everything was quick, hot and tasty. The drinks were fantastic and cheap too! Everything was well priced. We ordered 4 starters between us so we had almost Mexican tapas. We ordered the Tias rose (blooming onion 10/10), the feta and avacado taquito, the nachos and the cauliflower bites. The rose/blooming onion could easily feed 4 people. It’s huge but really yummy. We were stuffed and didn’t finish the food as we clearly ordered too much. Cocktails are good and at £4.50 you can’t go wrong! Only downside is how crammed it is. It’s a small restaurant but they definitely pack the tables in - and who can blame them after covid locked everything down? But just to be mindful of, it’s a bit of an effort to get to the loos and squeeze past multiple tables. One rather loud table is all you need in a small restaurant and then you cant hear the person you’re dining with. But we went on a Friday night. So it’s to be expected. Overall would recommend and will definitely be back.

We went to Tias based on the reviews and were not disappointed. On arrival we were asked if we needed gluten free or vegan menus, which as a coeliac I did. We were then informed without prompting about the care they take with cross contamination. There was a great selection for gluten free. We shared some chips with guacamole, I had the DIY tacos and the gluten eater had a chimichanga. We also enjoyed some yummy drinks. I would definitely recommend if in the area, whether gluten free or not.

I booked this based on trip advisor reviews. It did not disappoint. Despite a modest shop front the interior is cosy and has a great atmosphere. Tables are crammed in so it’s intimate but the food and drinks are delicious and such great value for money. House wine red and white are high quality so I would recommend. Service staff are so down to earth and attentive, we only got the name of Nicola so thanks to her and all the crew who were working last night..

First things first - hugely commend them for their covid measures in place. There's social distanced tables in addition to temp. checks for all visitors. The staff was extremely friendly and smiling despite it being about 9PM. Very generous portions and well priced food. staff was happy to recommend vegetarian options and play birthday song for our friend!! MUST VISIT.

Went here on a Thursday night late in July, after a day out round Durham. Although at first glance it doesn’t look much like a restaurant it certainly serves restaurant quality food. We had the onion petals to start along with the nachos. The onion petals where the best onion rings I’ve ever had, the batter is so light and crispy and tasted better than the best KFC batter that you have ever had. The Nachos were great too plenty of dips and cheese. I had a hanging steak kebab for my main which was outstanding. But I would go back for the onion petals alone.

We eat here on a regular basis and always find both staff and food to be excellent. The food is delicious even when we all choose different meals and can highly recommend the house red wine . If you haven’t eaten here yet it’s well worth a visit. Definitely the best Mexican food in Durham !

Mexican/Mediterranean? Booked a takeaway due to having someone visit who was Vegan (theirs being the only vegan meal to cater for). The food we brought home I would've delivered straight back for refund had I not driven to pick up or waited so long for. Not sure if the people giving 4-5 star reviews had a better experience or just have no taste buds but I was embarrassed to serve this food to guests. I've eaten in many Mexican food places but this needed a rebrand, though to what I don't know.

The atmosphere was really nice! The staff were lovely. There was a whole vegan menu which had a lot of stuff on it! I feel like the portions could have been bigger, or the filling of the chimichangas/enchiladas could have had more to them - it was just vegetables. It would have been nicer if there were maybe black beans or something more bulky as the filling. That said, the food was delicious and I would go again.

Came here as a group of 3 and had a wonderful meal. Service was brilliant. Food was fantastic. Caught the end of happy hour so we shared cocktail pitchers of sangria and strawberry daiquiri, they tasted great and were really good value for money, so we will definitely return!

Excellent food, let’s start with that. We had nachos to start which was large and had a lot of toppings, with a healthy portion of cheese. But it took almost an hour to come! The ribs were amazing, as tender as why I have had, and the Fajitas and the “DIY” tacos were also extremely tasty The margaritas were pretty average, unfortunately. A little light on the booze, so they tasted quite watery. Ok, but a shame compared to the food But the speed of service is a big negative: there were quite a few takeaway orders going out, at the expense of the limited number of guests in the restaurant. We were given free tortilla chips to nibble on and a free round of drinks, but we would much rather have had the food

Visiting Durham last weekend for a big birthday celebration and had booked Tias for Saturday at 8.45, as although we were staying at the Radisson blu we needed a Vegan friendly place to eat after attending the big firework display in Bishop Auckland. Ended up getting stuck leaving the fireworks, so rang them at 8.30 to say we were running really late and they were really accomodating although Kitchen closes at 9.30. We made it to them just after 9.00, really cold and stressed ! They were absolutely fabulous and so kind, it was like visiting friends and the food we had was superb. Totally recommend the Calamari and Chicken Kiev. They were really geat with the Vegan members of the party and offered lots of options. Do go and see for yourself, we will visit again when next in Durham.
