Perfect night as ever. The menu was lovely for a set Valentine's meal. Herby tomato soup to start, that zinged with flavour (husband had a vegetable and ginger soup that he loved) The soup was served in china teacups - quirky and romantic, and the croutons were divine This was followed by bruschetta with avocado & minted pea (husband's favourite)... A great value family dining experience. Something on the menu for everyone. As a party of 5 with one vegetarian we didn't really know what to expect. All of us came away feeling properly fed with some delicious dishes. Remember to BYO if required.

This quirky little vegetarian restaurant is in a quiet back street between the main shopping street and the bus station. There are only half a dozen tables though it is also possible to sit out at the back in good weather. We ate at lunch time and the menu offers soup, meze, sandwiches, wraps, salads, hot mains and puddings with... More

I am vegetarian and this place was a fantastic find. Although meat eater also enjoyed the food.... it is heavenly!! The lady that owns the place is fab it's a small place so ideally you need to book a table although we crept in as it had just opened up for the day so we were fine. The opening times... More

Another brilliant visit, this time with my partner, we had the veggie breakfast and the Chinese Fritters, both were delicious, filling and made with love. Do not be put off by the fact that this is a vegetarian restaurant because The Coven is easily the best place for food in Wigan town centre, service always friendly and great selection of... More

Freshly prepared food, short but varied choices on the menu full explanation given by the chef who is also the owner! Everything was so tasty, full of flavour! The 3 course option was amazing value!

My husband and I went here tonight for the first time. The food is sensational, wonderful flavours. Very spiced, which we love. Bring your own drinks. It's a take your time and chill sort of place. You need to book, only five tables in winter. £15.99 for two courses. £19. 99 for three. Lovely staff.

The Coven is a small café/restaurant with a big heart. Wholly vegetarian, with plenty of vegan options. The staff serve with love, and are knowledgeable about the food, so they can advise you on what can be prepared vegan and/or gluten-free. Most of the time, The Coven is a café, and it is a great place to pop in for... More

I have visited the Coven on 2 occasions, the first I ordered the breakfast that was hearty and delicious, I was particularly impressed that each item on the plate had an excellent individual flavour. My second occasion I ordered a mushroom burger, the burger was huge and the texture and taste was superb. I'm not a vegetarian, but the food... More

When (party of 8) arrived we were told that there were issues with the cooker. They asked if it would be OK if we were provided with a 'banquet' as and when it was ready (rather than all meals arriving at the same time). We agreed and didn't regret it. We had a hint of what to expect but each... More
