Good quality and generous portions pub menu. In these difficult times shame to see the restaurant not very busy, don’t know why as everything was spotless clean and tables were spaced out. I had the black pudding starter with red onion salad and poached egg followed by steak and ale pie with mash and vegetables. Left the restaurant stuffed and struggled to eat it all. The pictures are fajitas which the boss had and the same outcome, couldn’t finish them all.

Went to the golf tavern Friday night with my grandson Zack, we booked online for 7.30. On arrival we were shown to our seats got a couple of drinks and checked out the menu.my grandson had chicken goushons to start and a burger and chips for his main meal. I opted opted for the fish and chips, all the portions were large and very tasty and of very good quality. I really loved the dressing on the side salad. Will definitely return.

The golf tavern is friendly, welcoming with lovely staff. The food was cooked well and was very tasty.
The room was clean, tidy and had everything we needed.
The bathroom was a bit small. Would definitely stay there again we were minutes away from some beautiful scenery and a small quaint town.

The tariff on the website states rooms for £45, but I was charged £90. The photos of the rooms don't show how small they are, the only place to sit was on the bed. The bathroom was tiny, with the toilet right up against the radiator.
There weren't enough staff so we got no help. The food was cheap and nasty.
You can't relax in the bar because the locals are too rowdy, again there is nowhere to sit because they have their favourite spots.

We were not going to bother relying to your review but it has been annoting us greatly. The price quoted on OTA sites is a single charge therefore if 2 of you it would e £90.
Perhaps the bar can get a bit noisy but it is a Public Bar in a Local Community and there is a seperate Lounge that you could easily have used.
Food cheap and nasty? All that there is to say here is look at the other reviews. All our produce is localally sourced and home made.

Booked this for a long weekend break away and we were not disappointed, The staff were very attentive and helpful, the Bar was great and the regulars were always ready for a chat, a great Atmosphere. The food in the Restaurant was excellent with generous portions, John the Chef and Juliet the waitress were great, could not do enough for us. Would definitely recommend.

Stayed for one night, the staff were extremely friendly, breakfast was excellent, compliments to the chef.
Our room was lovely, king size bed, the toilet was a little cramped but served its purpose.
Only one slight niggle from my husband, there was a Guinness signed pump at the bar but when he asked for a pint he was given a can, he still drank it but not quite the same.
We didn't eat in the restaurant but I would recommend The Golf Tavern for a stay, it is worth it for the superb breakfast alone.
Thanks to the staff for making our stay so good.

We stayed here for 3 days on a golfing trip.Fantastic! Staff were amazing, food was lovely, would definitely stay here again! What a lovely little town. We ate dinner in the tavern, was very nice. We also tried the local curry house as recommended by Lorraine behind the bar, fantastic. The third night we tried the local bistro, nice but I preferred the curry house. Opinions though. I would highly recommend this tavern.👍 We were down to play The Glen one of the days but it was closed as it was too wet. Lorraine behind the bar arranged for us to play Archerfield instead. Wow! Really nice. Thanks Lorraine, very nice of you to sort us out.

Ideally located in East Lothian this market town situated beneath the Garleton Hills on the banks of the River Tyne and known as ‘the hidden toun’. Haddington has some impressive architecture such as St Mary's Church, which dates from the 14th century, and is one of the three great pre-reformation churches in the Lothian’s; and the largest parish church in Scotland I got to learn later.
On this occasion, we stop for dinner at the Golf Tavern....Wow. ...we had the location sourced steak and ale pie... the best I've had in a long time. The pub atmosphere was friendly, as were the staff.
In the fact, they were super helpful, we left our phone charger and they posted it to us...what service...big thank.

A most intriguing one night stay. This was my first visit this wee gem of a Tavern and restaurant, hidden from sight in Haddington (!) Welcoming, friendly staff. My room was very clean and comfortable. A nicely finished shower room. Several bathroom extras - should you be in need ! My evening meal in the warm, traditional pub-style restaurant was excellent. I had the Sizzling Chicken Fajitas. What a superb challenge - high quality food and a generous portion. (There is also an old-style dance floor - but no dancing tonight - too full after dinning !) I had traditional Scottish breakfast - excellent. Nothing more to be said - except that I'll certainly be back. Hamish McSporran.

We booked the golf tavern as we were visiting Scotland for a kids golf competition. As you can imagine after 18 holes of golf we thought the golf tavern would be a great place to dine with our friends. We were very very wrong.
We were a party of 12 with 6 of those being teenagers. The menu that we looked at online before arriving was not the one we received on the night we dined. All of the kids ordered pizzas, which 30 minutes after ordering we were told they could not have them as they had ran out. After asking if we could order pizzas in for them they miraculously came back and said that they could now have pizzas.
As the only people in the restaurant it took 40 minutes for 6 starters to arrive then another 75 minutes for our mains to arrive. At no point we’re we told there would be a wait on food.
When the kids eventually received their pizzas, one of them was inedible, it was so burnt you could have used it as a frisbee!
The fish was soggy and looked grey, one of our party asked for mushy peas and received garden peas mashed up. The pie and mash was dry, we got no gravy with it. The gammon was tough and the fried egg was crispy and looked more like scrambled egg. The onion rings could’ve sank the titanic they were that heavy, soggy and stone cold.
Needless to say we will NEVER visit this place again and I’d advise everyone to avoid the food like the plague.
