The food was very average and the upstairs restaurant, dark and dingy with sauce spilt on the wall next to our table. As we were the first to sit at that table as we arrived bang on opening time for lunch there really is no...More

Popped in for a drink. Service friendly and helpful. Quite a basic pub and language from other punters quite choice. We did not mind but others might.

Very dog friendly, in fact was like Noah Ark for dogs at one point! Fortunately they all got along. Food was great and staff were very welcoming.

Visited for dinner and a drink one Sunday evening. Food was pretty average, nothing to write home about and not particularly cheap either. The mash was terrible!

Visited Dunbar for a family wedding and popped in to The Volunteer a few times. Very cosy bar with lots of historic lifeboat photographs on the wall, good range of drinks and a surprising restaurant upstairs. Well worth a visit

Staff friendly enough, we sat upstairs and the waitress was very attentive and prompt with taking orders etc. We ordered Sausage & Mash which arrived within 10mins. The Cumberland sausage was good and the gravy tasty but the mashed potato was poor, it tasted more...More
