Would recommend table lighting, as room lighting slightly harsh, rugs on the floor would help with the ambience as well as the acoustics, and art on the walls as well,...maybe from local artists on the IOW. Update the tables and chairs to something more contemporary, upholstered chairs. Make more of a feature of the fireplace, flamboyant and floral or evergreen ? These suggestions would 'elevate' the room to the level of the food, which i repeat was outstanding!More

Our experience at this restaurant was second to none. It is a small intimate restaurant as part of a hotel in Ventnor. Nice ambiance with great non-intrusive music. The food was exceptional! The standard was at the highest with so much attention to detail with...presentation. The Ingredients were of the highest quality, the duck I ate just melted in the mouth. We were all blown away by our meals from the amuse bouche to the desserts/cheese plate. Everything is cooked from by the chef. The service was professional but very personal and friendly. The waiters were enthusiastic about the menu and talked about the dishes with you, and seemed proud of the restaurant. I couldn’t recommend this restaurant highly enough, and would give it 6 stars if I could.More

I had not visited the Isle for several decades, and was staying in Ventnor for a few days, so I decided to treat myself. Friendly and engaging staff, top notch food. I had the beef bavette as a main, it was cooked to perfection. I...enjoyed one too many of The Hambrough cocktails too (their variation of a champagne cocktail). I will be visiting the Isle again next September and will be hoping to dine at the Hambrough once more.More

The setting was lovely, sitting at a window table overlooking the sea. Sun was shining which added to the ambiance. We had an excellent high Tea with gorgeous cakes and scones. Even had butter which added to the cream tea ….

Everything about this meal was exceptional. The food was absolutely delicious, the wine was very good, the ambience very pleasant, and the service exactly as one would wish. I cannot recommend this place highly enough.

This was our second lunch here in two weeks, we enjoyed the first so much we re booked at once. The food was exceptional, and the whole experience greatly enhanced by our very friendly and cheerful waiter. We had a lunch time deal for two...courses and a (very generous) glass of wine, whch meant we had first class dining for probab;y less than we would have paid for rubbish in a pub. A truly fine dinning experience. The food is exceptional, few restaurants in the UK can match this standard. Its an expensive restaurant for the Isle of Wight, but it would be four times the cost in London. I would encourage everyone to try this restaurant...out to discover food on another level.More

The champagne high-tea was an absolutely lovely experience for my auntie and I, from beginning to end. From the minute we arrived, we were warmly welcomed and seated at a window table with a beautiful ocean view. The table was pre-set with crisp white linens...and elegant decoration and plate ware. Our server was amazing... very charismatic, friendly, and attentive. We were presented with Prosecco upon arrival, which was was divinely delicious. Shortly after, followed the English tea and a finessed array of crustless finger sandwiches, scones with the most delicious clotted cream and strawberry jam, and an assortment of delicate desserts. A wonderful experience, front of house is professional and friendly and not pretentious. The dining room isn't mind blowing decor but simple and understated. The menu is limited, choosing instead to go for quality over quantity of dishes. I had beetroot followed by the duck...and the cherry mille-feuille for dessert. Frankly a masterclass by a team that knows their way around a kitchen. Plates are not loaded high with carbs but you'll leave with a satisfied belly.More
