Spent a long weekend at the Harmbrough with dinner, sunday lunch and breakfasts booked in. Every meal was exquisite with great prices. Living in central London (Marylebone) means lots of optionality in terms of high quality restaurants - but what is missing is an offering similar to the Harmbrough. Best food we have had in a really long time, wonderful service and extremely good prices
Highly recommended to go and stay for a long weekend and eat at the restaurant downstairs. Definitely coming back and already sent the link around to friends and family. Thank you!!🙌🏻
Honestly not sure why anyone would write negative reviews - maybe some of the below should have a reality check?

Worried about previous reviews, we booked in trepidation. Needn't have worried as the meal surpassed expectations. One had mussels and I had pork belly for starters followed by a Barnsley lamb chop, locally produced and cooked to perfection.
Coffee was superb (shortbreads extra)
Could not fault it and definitely will return. Surprised other reviews were so negative.
Only suggestion is to heat the plates so the food remains hot and biscuits with the coffee.

Thank you for taking the time to leave valuable feedback.
We are pleased you enjoyed your meal here with us, I have to agree personally the Barnsley chop is a winner. Our plates are usually warmed so I will pass this your suggestion onto the chef.
We look forward to welcoming you here again in the near future.

We visited the restaurant on Tuesday 4th August and had the most wonderful meal.
We chose this restaurant mainly because it served Scallops for starters and we were not disappointed, they were beautiful. The only downside was that their were only 2 scallops!
The main course of Chicken Kiev was really tasty and on a faultless mash with a lovely garlic/shallot sauce.
The dessert was something special, Apple tarte Tatin as a share plate and it was wonderful.
The 2 girls front of house were brilliant and coped so well as there were a few items not available on the limited menu, but we have to understand the current climate.
A must visit, at least for the scallops!!!

We had high hopes for the Hamborough Restaurant but were left disappointed on multiple counts.
Over 1/3 of the menu choices were no longer available, the service was really quite poor despite the front of house’ best efforts and the food that did arrive wasn’t value for money.
I don’t want to be too disparaging in a difficult environment for the hospitality industry so I hope this is taken constructively and the management make changes to match the potential of the restaurant.

Saturday lunchtime, the place looked very tired. The waitress didn’t know about the menu when asked about meals. Food ordered resulted in my main course being sent back as the chicken was very pink in the middle only to be told it was okay!! Not asked if I would like an alternative the chef apparently cooked another chicken which would have resulted in everyone else waiting for me to have the main course. Which I declined, my friends didn’t get what was on the menu and feel we were fobbed off with what they served. Offered a £10 off which was a poor offer for such a serious mistake.
First and last visit, I think it’s had it’s time. The corridor to the toilets stank of burnt oil from the kitchen. More like a greasy spoon cafe. Such a let down and such a shame.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback, we are sorry that you were disappointed with your visit here. You and your friends were a table of five on a lunchtime discounted voucher @ £20.00 per head where we offer a reduced menu from our normal A La Carte menu but not reduced quality or service. As part of this deal you received a glass of Prosecco and two courses. The chicken Kiev in question was thoroughly checked by the Executive Chef and as was slow cooked can appear pink but was cooked through. You were offered an alternative which you chose to decline. When you chose to leave the building our experienced waitress checked with the other four guests, they were completely happy with the food and service.
We believe that the offer of a £10.00 refund was fair and we also removed the charge for your side dish order.
It is disappointing that you have chosen to comment in this way as the rest of your party re-iterated upon leaving that they had had a lovely time.

We booked dinner for a birthday treat and overall it didn't hit the spot.
The good points were around the service where the young lady serving us was happy and very pleasant and helpful.
The food on the other hand was the let down.
I do agree with previous comments around the cheese soufflé and the belly of pork ( which we had to send back because it was served cold).
The risotto would have been a better starter/child's portion not sold as a main.
The chicken Kiev was well cooked but only covered with a garlic butter and place on a small amount of mash and nothing else, not really worth the £16 price tag.
Even in these challenging times I fail to understand why they couldn't offer additional vegetables or any vegetables!
This was not a value for money experience, and to top it all they were not able to take card payments because the machine didn't work,so we had to scramble together enough cash to pay the bill, not the Birthday treat I had in mind.

I agree with other recent comments made here. I hate to disparage a place in these circumstances but we have been on the island for a week, eaten out at least once every day and have been amazed by the hospitality and ability to provide a semblance of normality pretty much everywhere. But the quality of the food is what really counts though and that has been notable too....except here.
The older pictures on here just don't resemble what we were served. The cheese souffle is tasty but quite sad and sits unadorned on the plate. Not a drop of a sauce and certainly not the dish others have had going on the pics posted. My beef tartare was equally simple but seasoned well and tasty.
But the mains were just not complete dishes. The chicken Kiev was delicious but sat on a mound of mash, also good, and nothing else, no side dish or greens. I had pork belly that was supposed to come with cabbage. The pork belly was tough and I could not cut it easily, much to my wife's amusement. The crackling was not crackled. There was no cabbage, only 10 or 12 kernels of sweetcorn and a few bits of popcorn along with a tiny teaspoon or less of barbeque sauce.
Because things were so odd I asked if head chef, Ashley Randle was in, and was assured he was and that all the things I have mentioned are deliberate. But they also told me they are not happy with the menu and the dishes are "the best they can do right now."
Then it came to dessert from a list of 4 dishes. Creme brulee, Eton mess, tarte tatin for 2 and cheese. We had heard other diners sending back unset creme brulee and staff stopped serving. The Eton mess was very basic and we did not want a huge tarte tatin. So I chose cheese to share...only to be told 5 or 10minutes later that they had run out. Of cheese!
I have to say that the service, aside from very weird reasons for all these issues, was very sweet. We were given a free drink and sat at the bar and had a bit of a laugh about it all. It is just a bit bonkers.
With such high standards in exactly the same circumstances all over the island I hope these guys can pull it around. We were not the only disappointed people in the room that evening. Front of house are really trying their best but the kitchen, on a very limited menu, has got to do better.

The food was good, but the bill was a bit high. Dishes were tasty, but quite standard. For a seaside town, more (seasonal) fish/seafood options would have been good. The seafood options included lobster, which was higher in price than normal as it's out of season. The dining room also could be more inviting (definitely felt like a plain hotel breakfast room).

Always try to be fair and honest in any review posted. We do not leave negative reviews unless extremely disappointed. We researched places to eat locally and this restaurant was recommended to us. Sadly our experience did not match previous reviews nor would I recommend. We booked for Sunday lunch and were looking forward to a traditional roast. The restaurant was quiet, lacking in any atmosphere when we arrived. Waitress seemed to have little knowledge regarding drinks. Our starters were luke warm and not terribly inspiring. Again the main course of Roast Beef was tepid at best and as tough as leather, undercooked veg with dishwater gravy. The only redeeming elements of the main course were the roast potatoes and the Yorkshire pudding. The pudding wasn’t much better. Such a shame, could have cooked better myself. The only positive from the experience is the view from the restaurant. Not a great dining experience sadly.

Sorely disappointed. Arrived for Sunday lunch, to find the restaurant empty which should have been a warning. The waitress was unable to recommend which tonic to match the respective gin and had very little knowledge regarding drinks served.
The first course was soup that was served warm and without bread/roll and very small portion. The main courses chosen were roast beef, roast chicken and plaice. The vegetables were all undercooked with exception of the roast potatoes but were served with all courses. We’ve never had undercooked roast vegetables with plaice before! The dessert choice was limited as they had on,y two choices left. Definitely not good value for money and not an enjoyable experience. Please don’t waste your money.

The best fine dining restaurant we’ve found on the Island by a long way and whilst not cheap great value compared to other places we’ve been of the same quality on the mainland. Food is Michelin star standard in my view often showcasing local ingredients. They will also ask you if you have any dietary requirements and act accordingly which has included providing a separate vegetarian menu with extra dishes on it when we’ve been. Service is friendly and very good with a decent wine list and good house cocktails. We’ve been three times with friends having moved locally in March.

Faultless from start to finish - and how often can you really say that ? Delightful food , service , ambiance, view and atmosphere. So pleased we booked and will heartily recommend to anyone visiting the IOW . Knew it was a quality establishment as soon as we walked in and were warmly greeted , shown to our table , asked our drink choices and they delivered nuts , olives and cheesy mini choux buns to the table - and that’s pre amuse bouche!
My lamb was cooked to absolute perfection . Top marks Hamborough !

A welcome return under the Covid conditions.
We had the scallops which were tasty, followed by the Roast Chicken cooked succulently.
My only grouse was the burnt creme brulée. The strawberry "Eton mess" ( by another name) was apparently delicious.
Coffee was very good.
A reasonable price as well so can recommend it

The restaurant was a real find - in a quiet road just off the main street and with lovely sea views. I had asked for a window table if possible as it was a birthday treat. Not only was that arranged for us but the restaurant had made a note of the occasion - and we were presented with chocolates with our coffee on a plate iced with the words 'Happy Birthday'. The other lovely and unexpected touches included small dishes of olives and freshly-roasted nuts while we looked at the menu, followed by a delicious amuse bouche with chunks of fresh bread and creamy butter. The flavours of the food were excellent and it was all beautifully presented as a feast for the eye as well. The waitresses were very helpful and friendly. The only 'fault', unusually, was that the service was a bit too quick! It would have been nicer to have had slightly longer pauses between courses just to enjoy the peaceful ambience and the good quality wine. There was only one vegetarian choice for the starter and the main course and, since this seems to be a set menu, that would be a disadvantage if one wanted to go a second time. Compared with other Michelin style restaurants we have been to, the Hambrough comes out really well. Presentation, quality and flavour of the food was excellent but prices were very reasonable. Highly recommended!
