This was my first visit to The Crab Shed. We paid to park in the Botanical Gardens as we were visiting there later in the day and headed down Steephill Cove. Having dodgy knees, I was worried about getting down to the water, but I used my walking poles and the walk wasn’t as tough as I was expecting. There is a slope as well as steps if people find that easier. The shed is open at 12 and there were already a few people waiting. We ordered a crab pasty and drink and sat enjoying the sunshine. The pasty was so tasty, with flaky pastry and tasty crab. Once we had finished our drinks, the queue was quiet so we indulged in another pasty to share! The Crab Shed is situated at the end of the path and the little bay was just picture perfect. This will now be added to my things to do while holidaying on the IOW!

A tasty lunch with option of salmon or crab pasties. A lovely walk from Ventnor across the coastline to reach this Small beach . Tasty lunch cost £5.50 very covid aware tables cleaned after each visit, only 2 at a time.

The Crab Shed came highly recommended by relatives and friends who had visited. Tucked away in a cove, it has limited seating on the beach and is only open from noon to 3pm. We made sure we were first in the queue and sampled their famous crab pasty together with their special of the day - mackeral pasty. What a delightful experience, eating perfectly-made pastry on a lovely warm day, looking out to the sea. Highly recommended for a taste of local cuisine!

The steep but very pretty walk down is absolutely worthwhile. We enjoyed a crab pasty and a chilled can of cider each, sitting outside the Crab Shed by the sea at the start of the last sunny weekend of summer - just perfect. Absolutely delicious pasties - we couldn’t resist a second one each. Lovely friendly service, great value for money. Always good to be able to support a fantastic local small business too. As regular visitors to the Isle of Wight, but having only just discovered this hidden gem, we can’t wait to come back!

We bought two crab pasties and one fish pie pasty as the special on the day. The pastry was fluffy and flaked away and the crab filling was melting in our mouths...the fish pie one was truly special and unique. I had to drag my partner away from buying up the whole stock on the day. It was a tiny little shed hidden away in the Steepcove hill and it was like stepping back in time in the nicest possible way.

The specialty crab pasties are strongly recommended and the salmon pasty was excellent too. Very limited menu, as made absolutely clear, but really excellent and unusual. All our party of four enjoyed our visit greatly. Service is through kiosk window due to covid but exceptionally friendly and helpful. Steephill Cove is a delightful spot well worth the descent and ascent on foot. And the pasties are the icing on the cake….

After a beautiful walk along the coastal from Ventnor the view down to the cove is simply stunning. The Crab Shed is only serving crab pasties and sandwiches. On the day we visited the also had salmon pasties - we had the crab which were gorgeous and a great view too. Worth a visit if you are up for the walk.

Small shack on tiny cove (accessible by steepish steps) serving brilliant crab pasties and decent beer. Sit and eat on outside benches or perch on the sea wall. What's not to like?

Went ahead of my husband and arrived just in time to discover that the last batch of crab pasties for the day were in the oven. Am veggie so didn’t want one for myself, and was pondering about whether to get one for my husband. Couple at next table told me that the crab shed was known for its crab pasties, so I secured the last one for my husband whilst he made his way down to the beach. He was not disappointed and tells me it was delicious, and tried to order another one, even though I’d already assured him it was the last. Apparently they taste even better than they look. For me, a glass of cool rosé on a hot afternoon by the side of the beach was perfect, made better still by the charming proprietress. A lovely spot and worth the detour.

We were delighted to find the Crab Shed open again this year in the beautiful Steep Hill Cove. All four of us again enjoyed the superb flavoursome speciality Crab Pasties and the friendly, service despite the rather windy and slightly wet weather. If you want to try something a bit different this is strongly recommended.

We had a crab pastie each and a local cider for our lunch today - Sunday 14th Aug. The most delicious pastry filled with delicious crab and leek. Fantastic value for money too st just £6.50 each, we thoroughly enjoyed it and we had service with a huge smile from the lady owner. Don’t miss this hidden gem.

Delicious freshly cooked crab pasties which my whole family enjoyed. Perfect for a light lunch or snack whilst walking the coastal path. The pasties aren't the biggest but they are full of crab meat and so tasty. We visited over the Jubilee weekend and could easily find a table with a beach view and quick service. Would highly recommend!

Some of the best restaurants in the world only offer one or two dishes, done amazingly well. This is one of them. When we visited they were only doing crab pasties, due to the time of year. They were delicious and we were very happy. The menu is small but the taste is big!

Fantastic food in a stunning location. Make the effort to walk along the coastal path from Ventnor, enjoy a crab pasty and a local beer in a beautiful coastal cove where the Famous Five would be right at home. Don't forget to have an ice cram too!

As a family of 5 we have visited the Crab Shed for the last 10 years, literally rain or shine over the summer, for the amazing food. This year however, we were disappointed to find there was only pasties on the menu and not the delicious fresh seafood/fish ciabatta in previous years. The pasties have gone up in price and down in size and the pasty I had, had very little mackerel in. It was mostly butter/sauce. For the first time in 10 years we went to neighbouring outlets to get lunch. We’re so sad!!
