Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Our children have recently really started to like mussels after we let them try them on a previous lunch. We asked a local person where was the best place and we were recommended to come here. After a walk and thinking we were lost we...got here. The service is really friendly and welcoming. Ordered drinks and 4 portions of mussels for lunch. Without a doubt the best I’ve ever had. The mussels were so fresh, the sauce delicious and the bread was warm and tasty. A really good place to visitMore

This place is a gem. Beautiful location, great staff/vibe, good quality food with generous portions that cater for vegans as well as carnivores and all in-between.

You can book a table with or without shelter. Menu is limited but they do a great job considering they have so few facilities.

An excellent place for a civilised lunch close by the sea. We had the fisherman's board and the Mediterranean platter, the first with a beautiful selection of crab, prawns, home-made smoked salmon pate, salad and two types of fresh bread and the second with a...delicious selection of salamis, prosciutto, cheese, sundried tomatoes, salad, olives, hummus and warm pitta bread, each accompanied by a glass of well chilled Italian rose. The food came promptly and the staff were friendly, efficient and very welcoming, even bringing biscuits for the dog. As there was a breeze, we sat in the shelter of one of the cabins overlooking the sea. It was the perfect summer lunch, a little taste of the Mediterranean in Ventnor.More

What a view and what lovely people Kerry, James and the staff are. Great coffee and bread Pudding to dies for. Ventnor Council, hurry up and mend the coastal path so that this Gem will thrive.

I booked one of their lovely beach huts for lunch for four of us. We were on a day out around the Island. Two of us shared a Seafood Platter, one had Cheese Baguette and the other a Ham Sandwich. All were excellent. The only...downside was the time they took to arrive.More

Went for lunch with my adult son. We both had the Fisherman’s Board. It was tasty and the bread was good. A little fiddly with all the different tiny pots (looked cute but my son got impatient with it all). Can’t beat the views as...right next to the sea. Only reason it’s not five stars is a bit pricey and for a meal that must be at least 70% pre-made (with only the salad and bread to add) it took quite a while to get our food - it was busy but not full the day we went. But cheery staff and we enjoyed ourselves. Note there is only pedestrian access which means long stairs from Wheeler’s Bay car park or from Bonchurch beach as the boardwalk to Ventnor is closed due to erosion.More

What a wonderful little find, such a gem! The Fisherman's Board we both had was delicious all my favourite things. Very friendly and attentive staff. Our Labrador was given a treat and a fuss, which was lovely. We will definitely be back.

Perfect location, delicious food and friendly service. I had the Mediterranean platter, lots of varied, tasty food and my friend had the seafood platter which was also delicious and both served beautifully. We finished with an excellent lemon and elderflower sponge. I will definitely return.

Fabulous spot, yummy menu and great staff but don’t be in a rush as it’s slightly chaotic service-wise on a sunny day. But since most visitors are either on holiday or retired, it doesn’t really matter. Laid back works.

Tucked away on the seafront of Wheelers Bay is a gem of a cafe and eateries with stunning views out to sea. This place is also licensed so I delved into the Ventnor cave aged sparkling cider which was absolutely gorgeous and only £4 a...bottle. Food wise I have attached the menus. We bumped for the Fisherman's board (£17). There was easily enough for 2 people with fresh local crabmeat, shelled prawns, smoked salmon pate, salad, homemade coleslaw and chunks of crusty bread. My wife washed hers down with a vwry palatable rose wine. We also shared homemade hummus with warm pitta bread. The whole experience was amazing and should the weather be unfavourable they have beach huts for shelter. Excellent happy staff too. The one drawback is that it cannot be accessed from Ventnor seafront at the moment as they have closed the footpath due coastal erosion. The cafe can be accessed from either Wheelers Bay road or via the walkway from Bonchurch. Despite this it is well worth the effort. You won't be disappointed.More

Hello, we're just short of half a mile from the paddling pool/carpark. You can use a mobility scooter all along to Bonchurch too. We're currently closed for the season until April. Thanks xx

The seating area is all outside, so there is no problem taking dogs. I think I remember there being bowls of water for dogs. Not sure about doggy treats, which some places provide.
