A fantastic sports bar, which also serves amazing food. We were here twice over the weekend, the menu has an amazing range of options, all of which were delicious - my friends and I covered quite a few on the Saturday, then all had the...carvery on the Sunday, which you could eat in the smokehouse upstairs or in the bar whilst watching sport. A few of us had the King carvery, which was stacked with all 4 meats, all of which were tasty and perfectly cooked. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was fab!! We’re already planning a return to Douglas with a larger group of friends, and will definitely be spending a lot of time in Jak’s again on that visit.More

Fantastic meal. Service was great; we had pre-booked as a big party, food came out efficiently and well organised. Very tasty food. Thank you for a great service.

My partner comes over to the Isle of Man frequently for work and raves about Jaks so I jumped at the chance of a quick visit and I was not disappointed! We hadn’t pre booked and visited on a very busy Sunday afternoon. Jaks is...a sports bar and there was football and rugby so we weren’t really surprised to see how busy it was. The atmosphere was fantastic and the staff were great. We weren’t able to eat downstairs but Miles one of the bar men rang upstairs to see if there were any free tables and luckily there was. There’s lots of choice on the menu and on a Sunday there’s also a carvery. I went for brisket with burnt ends and 2 sides one house cooked chips and one creamed corn. My partner had mixed grill with creamed corn and Mac & cheese. This smokehouse is the best smokehouse I have eaten in! The food was just perfect although the portions were huge. The meat just melted in your mouth and was so full of flavour. The creamed corn was delicious if they could ship it over to me I would have a freezer full, it was so good. My partner’s mixed grill was huge it had sausage, burnt ends, brisket, chicken wings, ribs and much more. Again he couldn’t finish it all but he said it was perfect. His mac & cheese had a nice spicy kick to it and was super cheesy. The meat just fell off the ribs and the combination of the sauces were delicious. I can’t recommend Jaks highly enough I would definitely make another trip to to eat here!More

Having been here on previous visits to the Island we booked this for our first night on our recent visit. We shared the Pork & Beef Platter which comes with 2 sauces & 3 sides & is quite some size,it was a struggle but we...managed to finish it,the food was superb & the service excellent, the staff are so friendly & helpful. We enjoyed it so much that we returned the following night,we stayed downstairs in the main bar,my Wife had the Chicken Wings & I had the Sloppy Jaks Burger, again the food & service were both superb. Sports Bars are not really our type of place but Jaks takes some beating when it comes to the size & quality of the meals & the excellent service!More

I can confidently recommend this bar / grill with a 100% rating. The staff are amazing! Friendly, helpful, and they all offer a first class service. The food is excellent and is cooked to perfection. It was a lifting experience to witness staff members who...are obviously happy carrying out their duties whilst putting the needs of the customer first. The cocktails are delicious and well presented by skilled staff.More

The restaurant / pub is located in the centre of the promenade, the steak house is at the first floor. We were welcomed by a very kind waitress. Luckly wasn't busy, and we were served very quick. We order three different steaks: Sirloin, Rump and...Fillet, with sweet potato fries and house salad. The fillet it was the best one, but also the other two were good. The meat is of a good standard. The prices are slightly above average but justified by the quality of the ingredients. During the TT is highly recommended to book a table in advance.More

Have you ever seen a human being explode ? Well, neither have I but if you are going to then this is the place. One the first night we had the Pork and Beef platter. It said serves 2 - 3 people ... yes .....and six other hungry carnivores. It was delicious but Jaks clearly have no comprehension of the capacity of a normal persons stomach. Joking aside, if you are really really hungry or there are perhaps four of you we can thoroughly recommend it. On the second night we had the Wing Bucket and the Mixed Grill. These were a little more reasonable and both were excellent. I had the wings with the 'pants on fire' dip which was hot but I think the title oversells it a bit. Generally the place was busy but not as much as we have seen it in the past. I can't really think of anything bad to say except perhaps the portion size. I am a big eater and we couldn't finish the Pork and Beef platter and it breaks my heart to throw a way food. Definitely should be on your places to visitMore

First arrived in the IOM looking for something light to eat. The chicken and brisket wraps were great with a few sides. Decided to book a table for a few days later because I am in to BBQ. Ordered mixed grill you may think a...bit of everything. Good place to start. NO! Burnt ends. Cube of flat with a bit of sauce poured over. Brisket point. The smallest bit I have ever seen and if it was not dripping in sauce, it would have been as dry as your heal. About 5mm thick. Meat slicer. OK it’s a smoke house without the smoke ring. First night asked about the smoker was told it was done from upstairs (in street level bar). The second night asked again and was told it was in the basement. OK I asked for a look and was told no. I was then informed it was an electric smoker. Nothing wrong with that, then a person arrived whom I was told was the smoker about 19 years old. Grilling from a set of instructions. The ribs I was expecting something like St Louise style not Chinese style with all the cartilage and the like. Wings not trimmed so you still have the end bit on. The sides were great but the mains did not live up to expectation........More

Arrived Bank holiday evening and walking around found this open. There is a downstairs bar/TV area and an upstairs where there is table service. We went upstairs which was very quiet with just a few of the tables occupied. I ordered chicken wings and the...wife cheesey chips. I think the size of both were the largest we had seen. I had at least 12 very large wings which came with a large amount of meat attached. Also a dip and salad. The wife's dish was very large to say the least. Good atmosphere and service but like a lot of restaurants we visited closed 9.30pm. We actually returned a second time when it was busier and both had excellent steaks.More

We went here on a Sunday night when most everyhing else was shut. The downstairs bar was crowded and noisy but the upstairs restaurant was a bit more sedate. The menu was not particularly ambitious, but had a nice variety. We had the carvery dinner,...which was fresh even at that hour in the evening. It was really quite good and the price was more than reasonable. The local ale was not bad, but the service was the real standout. They were quite busy but the service was bright and brisk. Overall, the experience was quite pleasant. We would definitley go again, especially on a Sunday!More
