The food is great here, particularly the seafood, with lobster and Dover sole almost always available. However, to my mind the ambiance is the unique selling point of this venue. Well-spaced tables, tasteful soft furnishings and great views of the marina all contribute to a...More

We chose to have a meal in Portofino one week before Christmas without great expectations, expecting the kitchen and staff to be worn out after the Christmas rush. In fact we had an excellent meal---superb local lobster and wonderful local scallops. The ever present host...More

A beautiful restaurant that has been decorated to modern and impressive standard. The food was very good, I would go again just for the Halibut- the chef really knew what he was doing. The only complaint was the service- very rushed and the head waiter...More

Absolutely excellent. We couldn't fault our experience, which lived up to our hopes for a birthday treat. Starters (queenies in garlic butter and white wine; beef carpaccio), mains (monkfish on black pudding mash; halibut on chive mash; salmon ravioli; veal chop; and fillet steak) were...More

I suspect Portofinos sees itself as the IoM’s destination restaurant. It isn’t or rather it shouldn’t. Service was fine but the food....the lamb wellington was surrounded by a an over seasoned much, the green beans wrapped in bacon (I think ) inedible. To start I...More

Portofino was opened at 18:15 on the 19th November 2010, as the Island's most prestigious Mediterranean and International restaurant. Dominating the Quay West development, centrally located in the Isle of Man's capital Douglas, Portofino enjoys spectacular views overlooking the marina, with activity of the street outside, visible through floor to ceiling windows. The grill, fish, poultry, meat and vegetables are prepared in full view of diners at the surrounding kitchen. During summer, outside tables are available for dinning. Portafino's interior was designed by Sicilian owner Mario Ciapelli. Its interior is complemented by high-back leather chairs, a modern cocktail serving bar and contemporary lighting throughout to provide a luxury and modern yet comfortable enviroment for diners. The restaurant also provides diners with the option to book the Xander Suite, a private dining room which can accommodate up to 30 guests.
