Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Visited Douglas this week and discovered this little gem of a pub. Warm and welcoming atmosphere, very friendly staff, lovely food. Managed each time we visited to get a seat in the window, ideal for watching the ferries come and go and the waves crashing...over the prom. Loved the playlist, just our type of music and not too loud. Lovely selection of beverages tooMore

Nice sea-front pub, right by the electric railway terminus. Plenty of outdoor seating, and dog-friendly. Food was good - plenty of it, and reasonably priced. But as other reviewers have mentioned, the service at the bar was very slow - not the fault of the...staff, who were doing the best they could - apparently they were one member down. At one point there was one poor lady doing her best to serve drinks with around 10 customers waiting. But that certainly won't stop us going again.More

Stopped in here twice for drinks and once for dinner. On each occasion the staff appeared harassed and as a result the service was not as good as expected. Having said that, this is a good pub with lots of outdoor seating as well as...the comfortable looking lounge bar/restaurant. On our drinks visits we were discouraged from ordering food and on the occasion we had a meal, it was a 50 minute wait from ordering our food until it was served. The food itself was very good. My wife had macaroni cheese and I had poached salmon. Both large helpings and were hot and tasty. Not sure if it was the lack of staff numbers which made those working harassed, but they definitely seemed to be more relaxed after the majority of the dining customers started to leave about 9pm. This pub is in a great place, situated on the esplanade at the Electric Railway Station and just needs a bit better service. Still worth a visit thoughMore

Usual problem, too few staff trying their absolute best to keep the ship afloat. Was always going to be busy Manx week, it's a problem within the hospitality trade. Staffing levels that equate to demand. The ones that were there did a sterling job. Don't...miss this trade one bit. A little more patience from customers would certainly help.More

Had time to kill before catching the tram and the weather wasn't great so decided to pop in for a coffee. Spotted veg broth on the specials menu and decided we would call back on our return. The broth was lovely and definitely hit the...spot. Will be back on our next visit to Douglas for an evening meal as didn't have time on this visit. The prices were reasonable and the pub appeared clean as were the toilets.More

Great lunch, the focaccia sandwiches were delicious, I enjoyed the fish one very much. Fresh salad garnish, and sweet potato crisps. Pretty good value I thought

Visited mid June, stopped off after a trip on the manx railway. Decided to have lunch and was not disappointed given how busy they were, 40 minute wait for food but worth it, the torte fish sandwich was to die for. Went back a couple...times after for drinks, staff brilliant always attentive. We will be back 🙂More

Absolute joke, basic menu on scrappy dirty A4 sheet, didn't have half on what we asked for, can we have…No, ok, can we have…No, ok etc so burger as last choice was inedible and indescribable, pensioners meal was like what a 2 year old would...eat, absolutely hilarious, gave us a laugh but will never be back. Shame, used to be a fantastic pub when the manager was a male years back.More

A pretty decent pub that serves food that is right by the Manx Electric Railway station. Well decorated inside and kept clean/tidy. The prices are very decent and the drinks that we had well kept. Very helpful and friendly staff behind the bar and an...excellent pint of Guiness. What more could you ask for while waiting for a train. The place is pretty wheelchair friendly plus has tables both inside and out.More
