Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It was a special birthday, so I called in person a couple of weeks before to make sure we got a nice table for 5 people - a very helpful guy recommended a large secluded window table - ideal, as we were to have two...boisterous kids in tow. On the night, we were furious to find there was no record of our booking, and the table we'd wanted was already occupied. However, the staff were very apologetic, and managed to put a couple of tables together by another window, nicely out of the way. The service from then on was first class, the food arrived swiftly and was excellent, and the prices were not too bad at all - particularly as, being a Tuesday, kids' meals were free! Highlight of the evening was when our nearly-four granddaughter had a strop and went to sit under the table, refusing to come out. The waitress taking our order sat down on the floor and joined her under the table, asking what she'd like to eat - and all was well! They even brought crayons and paper to keep the kids amused while waiting for the food. So, when booking, I suggest you get your reservation confirmed in writing/email beforehand.More

Was recommended here by a taxi driver for a casual restaurant as we had arrived for our few day break away late and didn’t want to get dressed up for a fancy restaurant. We didn’t have a booking but they accomodated us with no problem...even though it was quite busy. Staff are very friendly and regulary check all is ok. Food came quick and was very tasty. Portion sizes were big and menu is varied. So something for everyone. We enjoyed it so much we went back the next day too.More

Stopped here for a meal late afternoon and took advantage of the nice weather to sit on the patio area near the quayside. Decent menu. We had Vegetable noodle stir fry with chicken. The service was good and the food was good and filling. Prices...were reasonable. Well worth a visit if at the Sea Terminal end of the promenade. Only a few minutes walk from Sea TerminalMore

13 of us turned up at 9pm on the 19th of August with no reservation after just arriving on the Isle of Man. From start to finish all the staff who dealt with us were fantastic. We all more or less chose something different from...the extensive menu. The food arrived looking superb, piping hot, excellent portions and was delicious. The desserts were outstanding. We all couldn’t agree on whose was the tastiest. I had key lime pie and it was the best I’d ever had. What had been a horrible day had turned into a memorable evening and Barbary Coast has to take the credit. I only wish we had one near our home.More

There was a sign on the table saying no table service, so we had to go up to the bar. The menu was too complicated and overpriced, we thought by about £10 per meal. When we went to the bar to order, we were ignored...for about two minutes. When we were finally served, the boy behind the bar said he wasnt ignoring us, but we needed to queue at the other end of the bar to order food, at which point we left. This place calls itself a restaurant, but it feels more like a very badly-managed McDonald's. Furthermore this place suffers from the perennial problem of putting QR codes on the tables but not allowing orders from your phone. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Do not recommend.More

Their New Yorker burger is genuinely one of the best burgers I've ever had from any restaurant. A thick, hot sticky mess and it was absolutely gorgeous. Chicken wrap is also a big hit. HIGHLY recommended checking this place out if you're visiting.

Saw this earlier during our visit when it looked very full but on the Tuesday it was not so we called in. Had a table near the centre so it was a bit noisey as other diners were all around. I had a Cod dish...which was very large and came with plenty of chips and salad. Wife had a chicken dish which was substantial although she asked for a small portion. All the food was very good as was the drinks and the service which for my wife was amazed. Had previously at their other establishment had an "Eaton Mess" which was mainly cream. She asked the waitress for the same dish and explained how she wanted it. The waitress spoke to the chef and the dish arrived with 3 seperate plates with ingrediants on each one so wife could in fact create her own. Very thoughfull.More

The restaurant has just undergone a refit, so layout has improved. The menu is largely the same, the service as well. Pros - good vibrant atmosphere Easy to book Pascale the head waiter very good Order to receiving food tine-wise was good Price - fair...Cons - hard to catch a waiters eye once mains were served to order more drinks Corn sides over-cooked and cold. Onion rings bland Wraps mediocre. Ordered 3 coffees, only 2 arrived Overall, an acceptable night, but nothing special.More
