Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We have always wanted to try this restaurant as walk by here often with the dog so for our wedding anniversary I booked online well in advance and put in a special request to be sat on the table with a view. When we arrived...we got put on a table basically inside the kitchen. It was that noisy that when the waitresses were getting cutlery directly behind us we couldn’t have a clear conversation. When we queried it with the waitress she apologised and said she’ll have a look but never returned. We were about to ask if we could move over by the window when another couple came in and got offered it instead. Needless to say I was quite annoyed and we couldn’t get out there fast enough. Food was OK, it was a Sunday lunch. It was expensive considering portion size. We wouldn’t return again..More

We had dinner with friends and were surprised at everything! The fish was cooked extremely well, with flavorful extras. Our desserts were as delightful but unfortunately the bland coffee was a slight disappointment. I would recommend eating here, and enjoy!

What a find this The Boatyard is. The staff are welcoming and the restaurant is situated at the edge of the Harbour. Great location. It was in my eyes the most tasty and delicious meal I have had for many years. All freshly cooked. I...would highly recommend the Queenies! The plaice was cooked to perfection and the pudding divine!! I will recommend this place to all my friends. A real treat!More

I have dined at top class restaurants all over Europe but the dinner we had at The Boatyard 21/09 was THE BEST in at least ten years. The food was amazing - if there is a Manx Michelin star, can someone immediately give the chef...3 of them before he gets poached by the Paris Ritz? Highly recommend the panacotta which seemed to have several levels of flavour that sort of emerged step by step - amazing. Also the queenie pancakes were exceptional. Fantastic - thank you!More

We booked for an interesting sounding menu. The actual food was better than we anticipated. Starters of soup and kipper pate were excellent. The special of lobster and crab risotto did not disappoint. A truly wonderful experience

Continual foul expletives coming from the chef clearly audible at this table. Totally ruined what was supposed to be a pleasant lunch with my wife, who was visibly upset. We don't watch Gordon Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares for a very good reason and don't expect to...have to pay for the privilege either in a real life setting. What a shame as the food was pleasant and the service congenial. All ruined by foul-mouthery from the kitchen. (27th August)More

There were 8 of us celebrating a birthday. After 10 minutes we finally had to ask for a menu and for drinks to be ordered, this should have been done when we first arrived. I ordered Sea Bass which came with chips and peas, the...chips were so well cooked I couldn't get my fork into them without them breaking up or spinning off the plate, I left most of them, the fish was nice but would have been nicer without the batter.More

We have just had the most amazing lunch here, crab & ginger soup was to die for as was the lobster....couldn't recommend the food enough! However, our waitress came across as surly & very unfriendly, like we'd somehow offended her & she came close to...spoiling an otherwise thoroughly enjoyable experience.More

Great restaurant right on the marina. Amazing food with very generous portion sizes. Good choice of cocktails & wines by the glass. Nice atmosphere, will definitely return when next on the island.

When I knew we were staying in Peel on this trip to the island we decided straight away that one of our days there we'd eat in The Boatyard and I was glad we made a point of doing so. I love seafood and this...was good, local seafood done very well. I had a dish of oven roasted monkfish with prawns and mussels in a curry veloute and was very pleased, and everything my family had looked great too (and I can vouch for the bits I was offered a bite of!) That it was busy both when we were in and whenever we walked past is a reassuring sign that they're doing very well and it's well-deserved, and I'll definitely be going again next time I'm in Peel.More

We visited the Boatyard in Peel for lunch on Friday 23rd June and just wow- the food was so delicious. The Queenie pancakes were superb as was the Crab and ginger soup, followed by Monkfish tail with a curried veloute sauce, and Plaice with Queenies...and Samphire ( equally delicious). Can’t recommend this place enough- real must to visit if in the Isle of Man.More
