We had a Kipper Bap and a Mackerel Bap with chips....So much fish in our roles the chips were not needed!
A lovely mug of steaming Bovril finished off our lunch whilst watching the brand new RNLI Life Boat being launched.........
I asked one of the stevedores at Douglas port terminal where would you find the best kippers? He advised a kipper bap at The Breakwater Kiosk in Peel. I had one a couple of days later and it was delicious. The kippers were fresh, hot...and just perfect. I had tried them elsewhere but these were so so tasty. First stop on our next visit to the IOM without a doubt. Cheers all.More
Took a visiting friend few weeks ago and both our kipper baps were stone cold, blamed the electricity. Gave them the benefit of the doubt and visited with friends from across yesterday. No kippers or mackerel, just said couldn't get any and didn't seem to...care less.More
The kipper bap was wonderful. A first for me - very tasty and plenty of it. The queue of patient punters tells its own story. Maybe one more person helping in the kitchen would move things along a little faster ? But never mind, it...was worth the wait. A chance discovery as we only went out the breakwater to check the view.More
It seems unless you’re a local you get it indifferent service and some poor customer interaction. You have to linger whilst the counter staff finish their private conversations with locals or finish their social media / text conversation on their mobile phone
Good prices and...good location - the slightly unwelcome feel overrides this though.More
