Visited this great South Indian restaurant for the first time since before lockdown. It was great. They have a separate entrance and exit for Covid and things work very well. Food excellent and different to other Indian restaurants. My partner had onion and spinach bhajis and they were excellently presented. I had a dosa for the main course. Something different but well worth it. The restaurant has a great menu choice and there is plenty for vegetarians and vegans. During October there is a 25% discount Tuesday to Thursday. The service was exceptional and it’s a great experience. We hope to return quickly. We had a great night.

First of all, staff are wearing masks, there is a hand cleaning station and you are asked to check in as you come in, to a warm welcome. There is a on way system in effect as well which is great. Noticed as we came in that another gentleman came in with his own beer - thought this odd. Turns out he was gluten intolerant and the staff had no problem with this. We ordered 2 Poppadums and chutney tray, plus one portion of Bhajis for starters (2 people). Chutneys were delcious as was the Bhaji. A nice gap between starter and main (but not too long) For mains we ordered slowcooked Duck curry and King prawn, with Pulao rice and a garlic naan. The duck was delicious and perfectly cooked. My wife has the king prawns which she also enjoyed. Staff were very friendly and attentive. Will definitely be coming back.

Most people might not notice the immaculate, crisp white table linen (which looks like it has been ironed within an inch of its life) - but I work in hospitality and this tells me a lot about the attention to detail and the care taken in an establishment. I expect the same level of care is applied back of house. The service was attentive and friendly. The menu (far from being an endless list of dishes which just serves to confuse and complicate things) is a nice selection of what I would call signature dishes, all seem rather special with some classics included. I had the vegan aubergine bhaji, which is the best curry I've ever had (and I spent six weeks in India!). The aubergine is like velvet, cooked to perfection with the most delicious, rich (yet not overly so) tomato sauce. The lime pickle which they make in-house is divine and so I asked about purchasing a jar to take home - which they generously gave me free of charge and as you can see I thoroughly enjoyed it at home. We were a party of six, who all left thrilled with their dishes. Can't wait to return.

Extremely disappointed. After seeing all the great reviews we were expecting something different, something better from most other Indian restaurants, yes it was different but not in a good way. First of all the starter was delicious, we shared a portion of Hyderabadi chicken tikka, the chicken was extremely tasty and after enjoying this we were expecting the main course to be the same, however it wasn’t. I ordered the chicken tikka masala, the menu does said it was a tomato based sauce, however it was as if some over cooked dry chicken had been dropped in a bowl of cheap chopped tomatoes. The other course was chicken madrasi, that also was extremely dosed in tomatoes. We decided to leave the meal and brought it up with the girl at the bar as we were paying. Being fair, the manager waved the meal costs, apologised and asked if we would come back to try something different as they do cater for a different experience in Indian cuisine. It’s not the cheapest of restaurants in the area so I’m not sure if we would.

Initially, we thought it was great to find somewhere a little different. The descriptions in the menu were so wonderfully inspiring, we looked forward to our meal, but.... the food was more cafe than restaurant standard. This would have been fine if the portions were larger or the food was cheaper. We certainly felt we had paid over the odds compared to alternative offerings in Whitley Bay. Put simply, the food tasted bland and did not live up the the amazing menu descriptions. We had to make an effort to get an order for a second round of drinks, though the waiting staff were very pleasant when they had engaged with us. However a real bonus was the inclusion of some actual "indian" deserts on the menu. This is very unusual and they were, unlike the rest of the meal, my desert was very good. I would like to see the restaurant succeed- it was nice to see some different dishes, but the competition in Whitley Bay is simply so good I am very sorry to say we will probably not be back.

My first thought on arrival was that no lovely smells were emanating from outside the restaurant. My second was how on earth had they allowed a couple to bring their dog, which was seated under their table! The restaurant lacks ambience and warmth, the colour scheme being monochrome without a scintilla of colour and on the whole the staff appeared indifferent. They served poppadoms that were covered in a kind of salad pickle, with tamarind, yogurt and coriander all flavours I enjoy, however this caused the poppadoms to be soggy, the pickle should have been served on the side, for choice. The onion bhajis were like little soft dumplings with yogurt but no lemon to offset the oil they were cooked in. My Madras was synthetic red and tasteless with absolutely no depth of flavour or warmth. The butter naan and rice were nice but the garlic naan was a flatbread masquerading as a naan. This restaurant claims to take us back to original South Indian food and perhaps their food reflects that claim and I am simply a philistine, however if you want an Indian curry with all the bells and whistles to fire up your taste buds then this is not the restaurant for you. In fairness the restaurant was full and I have noted it is rated 5 stars. I suppose it's different strokes for different folks.

Dear Customer, We hear you and it is quite disheartening and unfortunate for both of us. Firstly, on the letting the dog part. It was a very special case where in they appealed very much to our humane nature and the Indian ethos of 'Adithi Devo Bhava' and after checking the veracity we decided to make adjustments. We apologize for any effect it had on you. That is certainly on us. As for the rest of your experience, I believe it is highly likely that our styles and tastes weren't a match for yours like you pointed out. While it is unfortunate that we couldn't satisfy your tastes we do understand that we will not be able to everyone's palette and we respect every customer's individuality just as they respect ours. Warm Regards, Nebu

We brought our staff here for our annual night out as it's our favourite Indian restaurant. As always the food was excellent, the staff friendly and helpful and everyone had a great night. Even though we were a large group all of the food came on time and was cooked to perfection. The most talked about dishes being the Masala poppadoms, fish pickle, King Prawn Peera and Nadan beef curry. Everything was amazing from start to finish . Thank you Nebu and team for a memorable night out.

Managed to get in last minute at 9pm on Valentine's night, and we are so glad we did. Family of 7, 9pm, busy night for them, but the whole experience was fantastic. Food: 10/10. A particular nice touch was the complimentary prawn dish that the chef prepared for us. All meals were tasty, freshly cooked and plentiful. The only thing I would say is that the children's chicken tikka from the children's menu wasn't quite to our taste, but that is just a personal thing. If you are going with children, and ordering this, perhaps be prepared it might not be what you may be used to. Staff were attentive, without being overbearing. An asset to the restaurant. Location: 10 minute walk from the sea front to build up your appetite...you'll need to, as the food was plentiful. Will return and will recommend.

After a long and bitty day, Dad and I decided we needed a meal out, dad had raved about their Lamb Rogan, so we decided to come down and get a takeaway, as we looked at the outside menu I thought "no, this is appealing, we'll sit in and enjoy it!" And enjoy it we did! Having been here before, Dad was greeted like an old friend and we were shown to our table, as we were escorted I noticed a couple of families who were speaking in indian dialects and thought it an excellent sign of things to come... I was not disappointed. As a starter we ordered the chicken tikka poppadums which made for a fabulously light and tasty entreé with a nice crunch from both the poppadum and the sev topping, being sprinkled liberally with sev, coriander and the chicken, the flavours truly complemented each other. For our mains Dad went for his favourite Lamb Rogan with steamed rice whilst I opted for the chefs recommended pepper chicken with chicken tikka pulao rice accompanied by a couple of chuppattis, judging by the silence from the far side of our table and the subsequent clean plate, the lamb had hit the spot, as for mine, it is a dish I'd never tried before so I sat and savoured it, the medium heat of the pepper (capsicum!) sauce was perfect for the weather and the flavour rich and sweet with a nutty edge from the rice, the chuppattis were delicious and I'd have asked for more but I don't know if I'd have been able to finish my beautifully presented dinner! Will I come here again? ABSOLUTELY! Will I recommend going here? YOU BET! If you're in the northeast, specifically near Newcastle upon Tyne and you fancy an Indian meal, don't go anywhere else, you may pay a little more here than other restaurants but it is worth the extra for excellent service, excellent food and a great experience.

Deliberately went very early, 5.30pm, to avoid crowds. Staff were lovely, attentive but not intrusive. Two of us had starters and mains including prawn and mango salad, squid, chicken jalfrezi and lamb biriyani plus a glass of wine and a pint of Kingfisher. The food was excellent, really tasty and obvously good quality ingredients. My prawn and mango salad was sublime and came with fresh herbs and a nice dressing. They did not be stingy with the king prawns either. The squid was cooked well and in a tasty curry with little pools of different vegetable/pickle coulis on the plate. The lamb biriyani was one of the best I have ever had, huge chunks of tender lamb in fragrant rice with a great variety of added flavours and textures. It came with a veg curry sauce that was gorgeous. My friend enjoyed his chicken dish which he had with plain basmati rice - cooked perfectly. Portions were very generous and I took home enough for lunch the next day. Looking forward to visiting again.

I've been to Zamorins 3 times in 4 weeks. That never happens! Food and service were good and there was something for everyone on the menu. I don't like my dosa cooked in butter, so our ever helpful waiter said they would make it in oil - so thoughtful. Will definitely be visiting again.

Amazing food, staff and atmosphere. We would highly recommend this restaurant. The staff where attentive but not overbearing. My partner and I had the pickle and chutney tray as a pre starter, onion bahji for starters and the chicken jalfrezi and nandan beef for mains with a side of chips, chicken tikka pilau rice and a garlic and coriander Nan bread to share. All the food was very flavoursome and delicious. I also had a mock tail and my partner had two pints of coke. The price for the full meal and drinks for the two of us was £55 which was very good in my opinion. Our only grumble is that the visit to Whitley bay for was a flying visit for one night and we more than likely will not be returning but if we where to return we would most certainly visit Zamorins again.

Absolutely loved this place. We shared the two lamb currys - both were delicious and meat was really tender. Onion and spinach bhajis also very good. Overall the best Indian meal I've had in a long time and much better than other nearby restaurants in Whitley Bay and Tynemouth. Can't wait to go back!
