The chef at this small, discretely classy, but friendly restaurant has a great palate. Every element of every dish is there for a purpose and really contributes to the whole taste experience. I started with prawn toast which came with mint leaves and finely chopped...More
I was lucky enough to enjoy a delicious 3 course meal here on Friday evening celebrating a friend's birthday and we had a super time. Friendly staff, good service and a superb meal chosen from a limited but imaginative menu. I would highly recommend this...More
As good a meal as you could wish for. 8 of us celebrating a friend's 60th birthday.
Rustic style decor which works and while the menu choices are limited everything on offer is beautifully cooked and well presented. We variously had lamb (sharing for 4:...More
I could write a plethora of superlatives but to to honest, just come and taste the offerings in this new cocoon the the restaurant now is. Great new space but the food is as it always was....as good as it gets... Cher’s Garry, fantastic evening,...More
Our second visit to this gem in Whitley Bay, and we were not disappointed. Starters were out of this world good (the Fish and Chip soup was amazing), and the main of lamb was perfect. The doughnut and ice cream for dessert was good (the...More
Small but interesting and varied menu. 3 or 4 options for each course.

Hi. They have a small menu - when we went there were three or four starters, four mains and two desserts, plus a cheese board. The mains were: 55* beef (slow-cooked), another meat dish (sorry, can't remember), an "all night breakfast" - including home-made black pudding, a confit egg, and all sorts... and the veggie option was a cauliflower steak. It looks as though there are usually two or three meat dishes, maybe a fish one and also a veggie one. There are also gorgeous side dishes which you choose - I think far better than just getting same potatoes/veg with every dish. I'm not sure about categorising the style. Gary (the chef) has travelled widely, and this is reflected in his food. He is an accomplished butcher and prefers to use every bit of the animal. But, as I say, his vegetarian cooking is also amazing. I am not sure if this helps, but I hope so :) Honestly, if you like good food, try it.
