Delicious food, excellent service, Great atmosphere. Turkish cuisine at it's best. I had scallops in a delicious creamy mild curry sauce (I could comfortably taste the scallops so really mild sauce) and tasty side salad to start our friends had Patlican Ezme (baba ganoush to you and me) and some Pan fried king prawns. All well-presented and generously portioned . Delicious warm rolls to accompany the starters. Mains were varied, a meat mousakka, a vegetarian mousakka, Guvec Lamb and I had Iskender Lamb shish. All these main courses arrived on cast iron skillets, mine was Sooooo hot that it continued to bubble long after it was brought to the table, this has the added effect of carbonising (deliciously) some of the croutons and tomatoes that the lamb was sitting on! The mousakka tasted gorgeous, but I think I had the best main course🙂 It was great to have draught Efes for the first time since I was in Poland. The view from the restaurant is of the sea, the staff were attentive and the place was buzzing with conversation. A bride arrived in her wedding dress with groom and family, everybody clapped. It was just a great evening with good friends, good food and good service. With drinks it came to less than £35.00 per person.

Wow. Finally found a genuine Turkish restaurant. Was hopeful that this would be good, but it was so much better than that. Everything was so tasty. The choice on the menu made it difficult to chose but everyone was delighted with what was served. The service was attentive but not intrusive, and the price was not expensive. Can't wait to return to try some more dishes.

We visited here for the first time this evening for my mums birthday. The food was amazing! My mum has lived in Turkey and told me it tasted authentic and the best she has had in the Newcastle/North Tyneside area. Our waiters Narsimha and Ramzi were friendly, accommodating and brought out a piece of cake with a candle whilst playing special music over the speakers and singing happy birthday for mum whilst putting a hat on her which she loved! For a freezing cold -1 early Monday evening there was also has a good amount of people in the restaurant which I think says a lot! Thanks guys!

Went TURKNAZ restaurant to celebrate my 70th birthday with my 2 besties Ordered drinks which were great as was service we then ordered mains only, my friend ordered swordfish asked for vegetables if possible as none shown on menu was told they didn’t do vegetables just rice salads and potatoes so ordered sauté potatoes to go with fish. Other orders Prawns and Kleftico. Meals arrived prawns and lamb and sauté potatoes but no swordfish we waited Asked waiter said it was on its way but wasn’t He hadn’t ordered it so we sent our food back till swordfish was cooked. Food arrived not hot sauté potatoes nearly cold. We ate because we were starving. Needless to say we won’t be going back !!!

Booked a month in advance for Christmas lunch for 6 adults and 3 children. When we arrived the table was too small so we were moved upstairs near the toilets, the table had a post at the end so the table need to be moved so we could all sit with each other. Starters came and was happy with the service however waited over 1 hrs for main course, was disappointed with the chicken meal that we ordered for the children which consisted of a Yorkshire pudding, 3 roast potatoes and chicken breast. When the bill came it was incorrect, was charged for a extra drink and a extra 3 course meal which cost £80!! This was eventually rectified however wasn’t impressed!!!!

Booked for 7 o'clock and were seated promptly. We chose a starter of sharing platter (hot) which came quickly. Disappointing to say the least. Wish we had ordered something else, but you learn by your mistakes. Not cheap at £19.95 either. We are more lovers of fish than meat, so both ordered the same main, seafood guvec, which was advertised as king prawn, mussels and salmon in a clay dish with a selection of vegetables in sauce. First taste was aweful and extremely bitter to the taste. It was as though the herbs or garlic were burnt. I asked my wife if we should send it back but she didn't want to make a fuss. We ate the (scant) serving of the fish and left the rest. The waiter collecting the dishes asked if everything was OK and I replied that it was not. It left a bitter taste in our mouthes in more ways than one! I asked him to taste the food and tell me if he thought that it had a bitter taste. He took it away and returned to state that it was first cooked in a pan and transferred into a clay pot and then placed into the oven that is why it might have tasted burnt!!! He offered complementary deserts which we declined and asked for the bill so that we could leave. Minutes later the complementary deserts appeared. We again declined and asked for the bill. Then offered complimentary Turkish tea, which we again declined. Two drinks, one starter and two mains at almost £80 not cheap but would have been acceptable if edible. Never again.

It’s been a while since our last visit and this was our first disappointing experience , the place hadn’t changed visibly, it’s a great vibe , clean , great service but this time the food wasn’t as good as our previous visits imo . Starter I ordered was hummus… that was all that was on the plate a substantial serving but no crudités , flatbread to accompany it , we were served a seeded bread bun each & I was offered wraps with it because they don’t do Turkish flat bread anymore apparently because it dries out too quickly 🤷‍♀️ but if your a member of staff reading this that needs rethinking please . Main course was fine but dessert was poorly presented & cold , I returned it and had it reheated but no apology. Three of the four in our party had three courses and two drinks each the bill was just shy of £200 … I know prices have increased everywhere but I think that’s a bit too much , which unfortunately will mean this restaurant won’t be our go too in the future 😔

This is a great place, especially on a Monday night when almost everywhere else is shut. The slimmed-down menu (which, to my disappointment, does not include my favourite dish İmam bayıldı any longer) cost them a star, but what’s left on the menu is still great. The service is wonderful - chief waiter Ramzi is doing an amazing job and manages to maintain a good sense of humour even on a busy night. Recommended.

Beautiful setting and beautiful food. Service was brilliant and they were really accommodating as I was late. We were going to a show at the playhouse and they made sure our food came promptly. Lovely restaurant and I will definitely go back. Middle of the range for pricing - two mains and a starter to share with two pints of Coke came to £44 so it won’t break the bank for amazing food. I had the Lamb Guvec and would highly recommend.

A couple of my friends who still live in Brussels and who I know from my Belgian Expat days were visiting the area, so we met up and I decided to take them to the Turknaz Restaurant as I wasn’t too thrilled at the prospect of just taking them out locally for fish and chips or a burger. We arrived as I suggested early evening and it was already pretty busy inside, thankfully I got us a table for three without having made a reservation in a good little spot over by the main bar, we were lucky as within the next fifteen minutes more people in groups arrived. Without wasting any time I immediately ordered in a bottle of Bollinger, ok, at £70 a pop perhaps a tad pricey, but I’ve seen it sold for more at other restaurants. I ordered in a Mixed Hot Platter for One as my starter, it was really good but I should have upgraded it for the Hot Platter for Two, and I picked the Turknaz Special Mixed grill for my main course, this was absolutely delicious but I could have easily ate double the portion served, my take on it, the food is excellent but there’s not really enough on the plates for any big eaters like myself out there. My friends had the Baked Sea Scollops and the Humus starters, with the Guvec Lamb Shish and Barbecue Lamb Shish main courses, which I have on good authority were truly amazing, they were happy with the portions too. All food came within good time, we were that busy chatting on it appeared to arrive quicker than if probably was, was beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. The venue itself, pleasant enough and it hadn’t noticeable changed all that much since my previous visit when I’d last reviewed it back in January 2017, clean, tidy and comfortable. The background music fine until later on towards closing time as the volume level crept up but still not as loud as I remembered. The service second to none, our waiter was very attentive and polite if not a little nervous and cautious especially when opening up the bottles of champagne but a pleasant smiley little chap regardless. We had a lovely evening of great food, drink, conversation and location, so I’m happy to recommend the Turknaz Restaurant in Whitley Bay, I’ve promised myself I’ll not leave it so long again between visits.

Was recommended this restaurant and it did not disappoint. The staff are very professional and efficient. The food is really nice, good portions and so tasty. The complimentary Turkish bread is delicious and you need it to mop up all the delicious sauce. The Turkish music was a tad loud for me, but that’s personal preference. I would recommend booking as it was very busy on Saturday night. Spot on!!

This was an evening out with friends for a belated birthday celebration. I wish I had made a better choice. We ordered main courses, only to be informed that the wait for these would be at least 35 minutes - thus pushing us to order starters, which we did. These were underwhelming. One main course, a chicken dish, was fine, but the two others a lamb dish with Turkish bread, which two of us had chosen, were very poor. The Turkish bread was not some delicious warm addition served on the side, but cold stale cubes of old bread which were layered in the bottom of the dish with a few pieces of barbecued lamb thrown on top with a dollop of something like yoghurt. Far from delicious and verging on inedible. Not much was eaten. The 'on the house' trio of unasked-for desserts which appeared in no way makes up for the dreadful quality of the main course. I have eaten here before and had some really good food. Something has clearly gone wrong and I won't be eating there again.

We visited as a couple to one of our favourite restaurants today. As always we were welcomed warmly by the Manager and his lovely team and given a great seat in a booth. The service and food was fabulous. We had the chicken shish and chicken/ lamb shish and it was cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. The team checked on us regularly and ensured all was to our satisfaction , which it absolutely was. A lovely couple of hours as always We’ll be back !!
