We had lunch here today. We ate bruschetta with cheese - a full pizza-sized portion - tagliatelle with ham, peas and mushrooms and spaghetti with seafood. It was all authentically Italian and absolutely delicious. One coffee ice cream, three beers and a soft drink later we left full and happy. The £50 we paid represented good value for the quality of the food. Only a couple of tables were occupied, and we felt lucky that the restaurant was open.

Excellent quality meal, good value for money and extremely tasty. Visited on a Tuesday night at 6pm and the restaurant was full (to Covid social distanced standards). Staff were attentive and took order quickly, happy to recommend and tell us how to correctly pronounce some of the options! We enjoyed our meal so much we tried to book again during our stay in Ilfracombe but due to its popularity unfortunately we weren’t able to get in again for the following 4 nights - it is definitely worth booking this cute little restaurant, you will not be disappointed.

Good points: food exceptional.
Service from female staff: exceptional
After paying for 3 course meal and generous tip you would have thought a limoncello might be a nice finishing touch. It felt like at end of evening one of the male staff no longer cared and after paying the bill happily charged £8 for x2 limoncello (small)
To be fair, another member of the staff must have seen how that’s not good service asked us if we’d like a further limoncello gratis. This guy needs to educate the other a egg cupful of limoncello is a nice touch rather than a reason to rip people off.
Shame as couldn’t recommend this place highly enough.

The staff were wonderful and the food was authentic and sublime. My chicken dish was moist and flavoursome, my mother had a pasta dish made to order which she rated highly. Our desserts were absolutely delicious as well. Most importantly they accommodated my mother’s various allergies with understanding and patience.
I highly recommend this restaurant.

After a recommendation we were unable get a table the same day so we had a takeaway. They offer Pizza, Pasta and Chicken dishes to takeaway. We had pizzas which tasted lovely and were piping hot, they also did a starter for takeaway which they don't normally do. Lovely food, make sure you book in advance

We booked this restaurant prior to our trip to Ilfracombe as thought it might be difficult to get a table with covid restrictions in place. So glad we did. Warmly welcomed at our dining time. Staff wide visors and sanitizer as you went in and by the toilets. Tables spaced out and screens used. They were following rules excellently but it did not detract from a pleasant dining experience. Excellent menu and wine list and we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. So much so we asked if they had a table the next night. The owner told us she could fit us in if we came early at 5.30 and could vacate in 1.5 hours which was fine. Lovely atmosphere despite the covid regulations and would recommend this family run gem of a restaurant. We received attentive service and all the staff were very pleasant.

Delicious food, excellent and attentive service and a good choice of vegan food too. The staff wore visors and the restaurant was set out with the tables at a distance and screens to separate them. A lovely restaurant with welcoming staff and pleasant atmosphere, no wonder it’s a popular place to eat!

We have been to this lovely restaurant time and time again every time we visit Ilfracombe. The staff are warm and welcoming and the food is wonderful, they have now installed plastic barriers in between tables and also reduced amount of tables so you can eat with complete comfort and safety highly recommend this restaurant. Great for couples individuals and families.

My partner and I were looking forward to eating at Giovanni and Luca's and we were NOT disappointed!! The menu is extensive giving loads of choice. The food was delicious (we both had different risotto's as a main), and the restaurant itself is welcoming and very covid aware.
The service is of a very high standard, with servers attentive and clearly keen to make your visit as pleasant as possible. My only criticism would be that it would be nice to offer some of the better wines by the glass rather than just the house red/white. (The house white was perfectly fine, however it would have been nice to sample one of the better bottles).
All in all, a super meal, we left full and fully satisfied and would definitely return on our next visit to Ilfracombe!

We are here last Sunday evening, the restaurant was busy but social distancing and Covid safe practices were being followed.
We were warmly greeted and very well looked after throughout the meal. The menu had lots of tempting dishes and all the food we ate was delicious and the portions generous. I had the cannelloni, it was piping hot and very tasty. The tiramisu was particularly delicious The food was reasonably priced - this is what I would call a good local restaurant in the best sense of the word.

I had been recommended prior to visiting the restaurant, it was valentine's evening but we were met and welcomed. When we said we never had a booking they said as long as they could have the table back after 2 hours it would be fine.
So we sat down, the waitress came over . Lovely lady who discussed the specials ,very informative. We ordered the special
The starter were calamari and my partner had Italian ham rolled with an Italian cheese both tasted great.
Main course from the special I ordered a Turkey and bacon pasta dish in a white wine and cheese sauce, WAW AMAZING.
desert was made by our Italian waitress again it was Amazing, almonds, chantilly cream.
The wine the service atmosphere It was like being in a small village in Italy
I cant wait for another evening with you

We visit this restaurant around 10 times a year when back in Devon and can say in all honesty that we have never found anywhere that serves such a choice of dishes so varied and all cooked to perfection with 5 star service.
We spend many hours in Italy under normal circumstances and this restaurant authentically produces food to the same high standard on every occasion comparable to some of the top restaurants in all of Italy. Can't wait for our next visit!

Having booked this restaurant weeks in advance based on TA reviews we were not disappointed.
Service was fairly efficient.
Menu choices great.
We opted to share a tomato, fresh anchovies and salad starter - simple and delicious.
We both opted for risotto, chicken and another seafood. Both were supberb. So full of flavour and generous portions. I asked for some chilli oil and got chopped fresh chillies in olive oil. A little bit of heat with the seafood risotto was perfect. Washed down with the house red and we were done. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Highly recommended. Book in advance. Thank you for a great dinner.

Giovanni and Donatella and the staff have done an amazing job of still keeping a lovely atmosphere whilst sticking with the COVID restrictions. The place is spotless and the themed screens give it a more intimate atmosphere. There is plenty of space and you are not rushed off you can still have that amazing experience of enjoying fabulous, tasty, authentic Italian food. Essential to book , you will be guaranteed a wonderful time and Delicious food . I love this place

Ilfracombe isn't the obvious place to find a really exceptional Italian restaurant but Giovanni's and Luca's is exceptionally good. A great selection of starters, really good veal and home-made desserts served in a relaxed, friendly way says it all. Highly recommended and very good value considering the quality but booking in the evening is necessary if you are not to be disappointed.
