Expensive yes but a truly delightful batter, soft fish and great flavour. No ketchup needed!!!
£3.80 for a large chips is excessive but we sat for free in a beautiful setting, the locals spoke to us like family and that you cant complain at.
Pic shared is 1x standard cod and 1/2 shared large chips
Delicious lunch had by all

After a long day walking, what better way to finish the day than with a classic British staple of cod & chips. We had takeaway and after ordering we waited sat on the wall opposite. Saw lots of deliveries going out so they were obviously very busy but we didn’t have to wait long for 2 of the best fish & chips we’ve had in a long time. Don’t think they were over priced at about £15 for the 2 portions, similar pricing at home in Cornwall - we’ll be back next time we’re in the area

We were recommended this place by the manager of our Air BnB who is a local.
We used the Just Eat app to order to our holiday house and it was a nice surprise to find there was a discount on Tuesdays.
We ordered two small cod, two portions of scampi and a large and small chips as we had been warned that the fish portions were large.
Just Eat said the order would take 70-85 minutes however we were pleasantly surprised when the food arrived after only 25 minutes. The lady who delivered was very friendly and delivery is only £2.
The food was delicious. The portions were very generous, it was hot and not at all greasy.
We enjoyed the food so much we ordered again on our last night.

The fish and chips was very average for how much it cost. We ordered two fish and chips with drinks and it came to £23. The blonde waitress was very blunt and not friendly. There was no organisation with queuing so customers didn’t know where to queue or wait for their food. They also weren’t handing out receipt numbers so instead just shouted everyone’s order out very rudely. There was no sense of urgency with the staff, they were just laughing and chatting. A lot of customers outside clearly frustrated. Whoever manages this food establishment needs to live up to what’s plastered over all the walls outside. And I suggest the staff have a career change if smiling and being friendly isn’t for them. The dolphin next door is much better.

I ordered 3 small chips, 3 small non battered sausages, 1x small curry sauce 7 x1 500ml bottle of pop, I was charged £16.10 and then was told to wait 30 minutes. At least the food would be fresh so i though, chips were hard & low quality sausages. Curry sauce was good though. Wish i had realised what i was charged before i 50 miles away and nearly home. Complete rip off. Will not be back to this place and we visit ilfracombe a lot.

Saw a big gluten free sign outside and a dedicated gluten free menu. Partner and I ordered regular battered sausage and chips and a gluten free large cod and chips. We got home and eagerly unwrapped to taste the fish, as coeliac sufferer I don’t get the chance to eat fish n chips very often. Great I thought. Then discovered another small package right at the bottom with a gluten free sticker. This was in fact the gluten free fish and chips. Spent most of the next day suffering. We had also been charged £27 so gathered we’d also probably paid for the extra stowaway.
We popped back to the shop to let them know what had happened, and were immediately faced with a very poor attitude from one member of staff in particular. First she used phrases like “no proof” when we said we didn’t have a receipt. We showed her our bank statement. She continued with the poor attitude, wouldn’t listen, made excuses and made me feel like the stupid one for not checking for gluten free stickers. No one had mentioned stickers to us, and we weren’t expecting any other fish in our order.
Such needless bad attitude from the staff member. We just wanted to let them know what had happened, particularly as if they’re offering gluten free and so prominently, they should be more careful.
Rating two stars instead of one, because the food wasn’t bad.

Do not waste your time and money here, go to Maddys instead. Took over 20 mins to deliver our food while we stood in the rain, The only other person to be served waited over 20 minutes for a cone of chips! The owners daughter was rude, using bad language to both staff, and ignorant to customers, and talked incessantly all the time we were waiting. And after all this, the food was poor and the portion dismal. Next day we went to Maddys, lovely place, served in 5 minutes with a smile and the food and portion was great. Go there instead!

We ordered fish and chips from this place and thought the small portion was actually a large it was so generous.
Probably the best chips we have ever had from any chippy.
Quick delivery so couldn’t ask for anything more! Definitely worth trying if in the area.

We were looking for fish and chips and there are quite a few in Ilfracombe. This was recommended by a local young man and we were not disappointed. The premises does not look as attractive as others in the town but we went for it and had freshly cooked fish chips and mushy peas. We sat in our motorhome looking out over the beach at the back of the Landmark theatre (Jubilee Gardens) and ate them. Bliss !

Nice chips and daughter woofed her sausage down. Freshly cooked to order and the staff were doing well trying to maintain a social distance operation in a narrow street.
Was £4 for a small portion of chips and a small sausage so not the value of our local chippy so playing off rep and location. Hence no 5star.

If you like getting ignored, made to feel like an inconvenience and enjoy greasy food, go here. If not AVOID.
I ordered on the screen but after paying decided I wanted a can of drink, as I was waiting to pay I overheard the man who I assume owns it speaking to his staff in a very poor manner, after he left the girls began talking between themselves, both looked at me and continued their chat…. I stood there for a further 10 minutes whilst they continued with their gossiping and looking over at me as if they had no idea why I was there, not once was I acknowledged.
Food was just a greasy dripping mess. Also as stated on here in nearly every review many justeat drivers being served before the customers waiting on the streets.
Plenty of other options within seconds from here!

Terrible food (greasy, plain, unflavoured) and then terrible attitude from the staff. Ordered off the electronic board as the staff were unable to take a face to face order? Received the food and returned to our accommodation where we found we received the wrong portion of chips (small not large) and were missing an item.
We rang and this was the biggest inconvenience for the staff. Apparently sent someone to drop off the food who never arrived so rang again, and after some more attitude they did actually drop off the order, but with no chips and an “equivalent” replacement, rather than what we actually ordered.
Not sure what happened with our order as recommended from people we knew also staying in area but in our opinion AVOID AVOID AVOID.

My husband and I visited Ilfracombe to see the Damien Hirst Verity Sculpture and on leaving this little coastal village we passed LynBay Fish and Chips. Seeing all the locals queueing we decided to try ourselves. Unfortunately it appears the staff favour the locals whom are given a large portion of fish and chips in a large brown box and a brown paper bag to carry them home. However, if you are a tourist you are given a small tray of chips and a very small piece of fish for the costly price of almost £24.00 for two (take out not sit in) my husband was offered a plastic carrier bag and not a brown paper bag, by the young girl behind the counter who was eating the chips whilst serving food, she never once washed her hands! Having served all the locals and being the only ones left waiting for food, we waited over twenty five minutes for our fish and chips My advice go somewhere else or be prepared to pay high prices for small fish and chips with a very long wait time

Had haddock and small chips. The small chips were really quite large and the fish was AMAZING quality. Possibly the best I've ever had. Staff were also welcoming and you can eat outside the shop on benches set into the harbour wall. £10 for the whole lot, including a cup of tea is very good value. Thanks!

Starting with my gluten free chips, all seemed great at first staff seemed knowledgeable enough and seperate fryers for gf. I asked for mine to be marked gf but then story changed to all chips are cooked in seperate gf fryer. Great!!
When I got to the family and started handing there non gf food out the only thing that was enjoyed was my daughters jumbo sausage. Hubby and son said chips and fish were terrible and left most of them. To my horror when I opened my chips there were bits of batter in with them. I’ve never had this from my local fish and chip shop who have brilliant gf options and separate fryer. Completely freaked out I did take mine back , the girls were rude and obnoxious clearly didn’t understand how serious it is to consume gluten in even the tiniest amounts. I got a refund and my chips snatched out my hands. All together a complete waste of money. Avoid if you don’t want to waste your money on very overpriced under par food.
