We were staying at the Prince of Wales hotel, which is just over the road, and fancied a meal out. I am very glad we chose Gusto.
The restaurant is small, but very friendly. The focus looks to be on fish with a number of tasty looking specials. I had the pate to start and my partner had the asparagus, both were delicious. Gluten free pasta is available and the waiting staff took food allergies seriously. I enjoyed a spicy pizza and my partner had a seafood risotto that was on special. We enjoyed a gateau and tiramisu for pudding - the latter was delicious.
The restaurant was well priced and had a good atmosphere. I understand the restaurant has developed a loyal following and we look forward to our return visit.

Being regulars at Gusto, we'd really missed it during lock-down. They've implicated better safety measures than any other restaurant we've visited. The tables are placed behind screens, with food being delivered through a small 'hatch'. A lot of thought and effort has clearly gone into it and we appreciated the owner's efforts. This meant we could relax and enjoy the food. It was the usual excellent quality. I'm a particular fan of their lovely mixed salad and home-made dressing. Pasta was perfect as usual. It was so good to be back.

We had pre booked a table for 8pm and we had to wait for over 25 minutes to be seated and were offered no drinks until we asked which is the only reason for down scoring this restaurant we felt like the staff wanted us to wait outside. Food was excellent drinks very overpriced bottled beers only at around £5 a bottle. Food more than made up for the wait and price of beer to be fair. Service was good.

I have eaten here several times and each time leave wishing I’d had a maccies. I never write bad reviews but Jesus wept it’s the worst service I’ve ever had and the food is mediocre at best.
You’re better off at Villagio or Trattoria 51, both brill local Italians where the staff don’t act like primary school dinner ladies on the rampage.
The only thing this place is good for is having a giggle at the managers responses to any other bad reviews on here..
Last time I ate here I had penne arrabbiata with a side of regret. I was also lucky enough to be aggressively educated by George, who has the personality of a dial tone, on what an arrabbiata is. Side note for management, unless your Gina De Campo I don’t give a flying focaccia about what should and shouldn’t go in an arrabiata.

This review is not about the food, although acceptable is basically pasta & pizza but more about the lack of space. I spent a very uncomfortable hour or so here and was shocked at how close the tables had been pushed together. The table that I sat at was near the exit that the staff use to take dirty dishes to the kitchen and diners use to access the toilets. I didn’t realise this when being seated. They have placed perspex dividers at the edge of most tables but then the staff, who incidentally do not wear masks, have to lean over to serve. They had actually set 3 places on the table next to me that was only for 2 people and when the diners arrived, they had to be moved as they could not fit into the small space.
I am very sad to find that although I warned a friend about this she is now ill with covid after visiting because she didn’t want to let other friends down.
I realise that restaurants are trying to make up for business that they lost during lockdown but this place is not showing any care to its customers and I will certainly not eat there again or anywhere else, for the time being, as infections are still so high.

Had not been to Gusto for several years. What a shame as thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of our evening!
Hand sanitiser on entry, clear screens between tables, menus on QR code so felt very organised.
Well presented food - can recommend the Polpette Piccanti and Gnocchi al Pesto.
Service friendly & efficient.
Thanks for a great evening!

Purchased a voucher for the restaurant, was sent by email the voucher, only writing on the email was here is your voucher, voucher had a qr code on and a voucher number. My daughter has been tonight had a meal went to pay showing the voucher on the phone, to be told it has to be a printed version . Very disappointed no notice anywhere to print the voucher to present it, shes tried ringing round friends to print for her!! No printer in the restaurant, she has sat for 30 mins with other customers overhearing the whole fiasco and after a disgruntled call from myself the staff agreed to take a picture of the voucher on her phone and let her leave. Very bad customer service, would have happily paid cash for the meal but no intention of returning to use the voucher at a later date!!

My husband and I visited Gusto Trattoria yesterday and I must say it was excellent. It was busy, inviting, friendly, clean but most of all the food was excellent in every way. We will definitely be returning on a regular basis. It's convenient for parking which is just steps away and very reasonably priced with a great plant based and vegetarian menu as well as the regular menu. The waitress was so friendly and efficient. Excellent!

Georgio has a very well run and very enjoyable restaurant. The smell of Italian cooking is so evocative, even outside the front door. The tables are well spaced apart with screens between and the place feels very Covid safe. Service is excellent and the food is just great! We always enjoy eating here very much.

I had very high expectations of this restaurant, as it had been recommended by several friends, maybe my expectations were too high because I was a bit, well, underwhelmed. The menu is quite small, which is always a good sign because it usually means fresh, but we had the Antipasto Gusto to start and most of it seemed to be out of a packet / from a jar. The vegetables were not roasted or griddled in house, a lot of it was fridge cold and the cured meats tasted like something you'd get from a supermarket. One of our party had the baked mussels, which were good, another had the meatballs, which they enjoyed. For mains I ordered Conchiglie del Mare, which was ok, although the pasta shells were huge - much wider than anyone's mouth, so unless you can unhinge your jaw you need to cut them with a knife, which is not something one should do with pasta, in my opinion. Also ordered was the Delizia Biana, which was apparently very good, and the others both ordered pizzas and seemed happy. For me, the highlight of the evening was the deserts, I shared profiteroles which were filled with ice cream and really tasty, and we also had a chocolate truffle desert which was very good and an apple tart, however it was apparent the deserts were bought in, not homemade, so no kudos there.
The service was ok, our waitress told us she was new, so didn't know a lot about the dishes. It's clearly a very popular venue, because we went on a Sunday and it filled up fairly quickly. The atmosphere was good and it's a nice, cosy little place. I think if you don't set your expectations too high it's probably a lovely, informal place to dine in a relaxed atmosphere.

My wife and I called in early on a Thursday evening and received a warm welcome and shown to a table.
The restaurant was busy and soon filled up.
My wife had a pizza and I had meatballs on pasta. Both dishes were very nice,
Very pleasant evening and would certainly visit again when next in Southport.

We had booked a table for 6 and I went to the restaurant to see if we could eat outside and amend the booking. When I put my head inside the open door a lady (possibly the owner) said we are closed, I said I know she replied, good!! (Rude). She did manage to confirm the booking for later that evening and I left - considering whether I would return if that is the quality of service. Thankful I came back to see the contrast of two personable, friendly, easy going polish waitresses where nothing was any trouble (good for them). Once relaxed thanks to their welcome, the food came and was absolutely excellent the garlic bread, pasta, wine, everything. Worth a visit to this local business.

Of all the restaurants to choose in Southport this particular evening we unfortunately chose this one. Arriving 8 minutes early of our pre-booked table, the manager made a point of staring at his wrist watch to make the point that they weren't expecting us so early and there isn't room to accommodate 4 people at the 'BAR'. There isn't one it's too small a place(hence the crowded tables). After going across the road for a drink it now made us 10 min late. Big mistake!
From then on the service was terrible.
No welcoming into their restaurant, left alone for 15 mins before giving us a menu or taking drinks order, charged for drinks we ordered but didn't receive, two people who ordered steaks cooked differently received the other persons, never asked throughout if everything was Ok, never asked if wanted more drinks.
The waitress who took our order was rude and not very knowledgeable regarding the menu although she did have a cold which she shared with us while serving our food.
The manager came over and started to argue with us which was embarrassing both for us and the Chef who was staring over the counter.
I don't know how long people running a business can continue with this attitude it's their choice but its also mine and other peoples as to where we eat.
You've been for-warned, don't eat here, your review will mirror mine!

Restaurant was full when we arrived but we decided to wait, seated outside we were treated to delicious smells. So glad we waited. This is an exceptional Italian restaurant. We had initially dismissed it because we thought it was part of the Gusto restaurant chain but we’re told that it was an excellent independent restaurant. Certainly lived up to the recommendation. Welcoming, clean and well run. The food was so fresh and great quality, enjoyed everything from the first mouthful to the last sip of espresso. Had good selection of vegetarian and vegan options. The owner certainly knows his food and how to run a restaurant. Thanks to everyone, we had a wonderful evening

I was a little disappointed with the food as the menu sounded great but sadly didn't really deliver on taste. My friend and I ordered pizza's and had half each as we couldn't decide. Both were lacking in topping but especially the Delizia Bianca , there was very little topping except a lot of pear which didn't even taste like pear, like the cheap hard ones you get at the cheaper supermarkets. Service was quite slow but it was quite busy. What really left a bad taste in our mouths was the fact that the waitress wasn't writing down our orders and then, when the bill came had charged us for far more drinks than we had ordered. When we explained the situation and went through exactly what we had all ordered she was surly and insisted she had brought all these drinks to our table. She honestly hadn't and eventually, after a LOT of explaining the other waitress agreed to only charge us for what we had had but it left us with quite poor experience overall. If you do go please just check your bill!
