My wife and I were Christmas shopping in Southport and just happened to come across Volare by chance, what a nice surprise! Although we only had one course each, the food was excellent and we were served by the lovely waitress, Alice. We thought that...the rest of the menu looked very interesting and there were some specials on offer. We will definitely be returning soon to spend more time and explore the menu in more detail.More

VOLARE NO! NO! NO! NO! Restaurant was very noisy and the food was bland.Staff were hostile and the waiter collecting the bills snatched the money out my hand so I do not know how much he grabbed as he hid it with other money he...had collected It. was the worst experience I have ever experienced in any shop or cafe . If you want a pleasant evening go elsewhere.More

We took my mother here for her birthday, as it had been her and my dad's favourite restaurant in the past and she hadn't been since he passed away 7 years ago. I booked 3 weeks in advance for a table but got seated at...the back of the restaurant by the service door. I asked for us to be moved and we were then seated in front of the other sealed off exit/entrance door which was fine, yet throughout our meal a table for 4 in the window was totally free. I enjoyed my meal, as I had Spaghetti with garlic and olive oil. It was cooked perfectly, if not a tad on the firmer side of 'al dente' and that's what I like! The portion was not very big though. Mother had lasagne, which she said weirdly had the consistency of blended beef, without a lasagne sheet topping...more like a mush. My sister had a vegetable lasagne dish, which she only ate some of, although she didn't say why and I didn't ask. The house white tasted of water with a bit of an added sour flavouring added. Absolutely nothing to it. I never order house wine because there are so many lovely wines to be had but mother will drink any old tosh and it was her birthday after all. The service was a bit too fast. We'd barely managed to sit down for a moment when we were asked what we'd like to drink. I ordered sparkling water and the waiter just left without asking the others what they wanted. One highlight was that the garlic pizza with tomato topping was outstanding. Delighted that it was busy on a Sat afternoon and I like the extension. Would I return, possibly.More

Wonderful authentic Italian food served with a smile. I started with delicious fresh Fish soup followed by Monk fish pasta. Desert, Gelato Pistachio and vanilla both home made. Family had a mix of foods such as Veal wrapped in Parma ham, Burrata and Puglian ham...with crisp breads, and and home made lasagna - all perfect. House wine as you would expect very good. Will return when I am next in Southport. I travelled down from London to meet my sister and her husband.More

I’m writing this review because we left annoyed. The restaurant is a great family business that has recently expanded. We used to eat there when it was smaller and never had a poor experience. In our view it’s lost its way in terms of customer...service. We have never felt so pressured in a restaurant. Dining out is supposed to be a pleasure and relaxing. We arrived, it was busy as usual and we were shown to our table. We sat down and were just removing our coats and the waiter was at the table asking if we had decided what we wanted to drink. We actually laughed and said please give us a minute to take our coats off and look at the wine list. He returned a few minutes later and we ordered our drinks. A few minutes later he took our food order. The shared starter of calamari arrived very quickly which was lovely. We finished the starter and I nipped to the loo. I was away a couple of minutes and returned to find my main course on the table. We ate that which again was very nice and by now we had been in the restaurant a mere 35 mins. The table was cleared and minutes later the dessert menu was left at the table. Everything is far too rushed. It’s not a pleasurable experience. The staff need to chill out and ensure customers are not pressured to eat up and get out. We appreciate tables are required and need to be rotated but not at the expense of customer enjoyment. We have eaten all over the world and never experienced feeling like we are being pushed out of the door asap. We were watching and listening around us and it’s a pattern of behaviour with some of the staff to simply process people quickly. Maybe it’s a management instruction to churn customers to increase revenue but it shouldn’t be at the expense of a customer experience. It’s such a shame because it’s a great family run business with good food. Please learn from this because unfortunately we won’t be coming back and we are locals. We can eat out and enjoy a relaxed, good meal at many places in Southport.More

We had a perfect meal here today with our friends. Everything was cooked to perfection and well presented. One of the party had the soup and said it was the best Minestrone Soup he had tasted . Two had the Garlic Chicken which was delicious....I had Chicken with mushrooms in a sauce and the other person had Pasta. As with the other mains they were so tasty. We were all tempted to have a sweet. These too were excellent. The staff are very friendly. Definitely somewhere to recommend to friends.More

Came here unexpectedly as we were planning on going to a different Italian which was recommended however when calling up they were closed despite the website saying open! So after doing a little bit of walking we ended up here - open as it stated...:) We came to Volare on a Monday night however it was so busy! This was a good sign to the quality of food we’d receive but on the negative the service wasn’t great to begin with however during the night it definitely got better. The drinks menu didn’t have many cocktails on however after some persuasion the staff came round and managed to make us cosmos as all ingredients were listed on the menu. These were good versions also! So a win there as I have had a fair share of bad cosmos being made. I asked for gluten free options and the waiter explained he also follows the gf diet and all pizzas and pastas can be made this way. We ordered a cheesy garlic bread to share to share which was really tasty and great size to share. For main I had gf pizza with a couple of added toppings from items I spotted on the menu. Great tasting and spread of toppings was good unlike some places where they are sparse. Portion sizing was very good and they gave me a box happily to take half back :) Overall a fab time here and will definitely be back when staying in Southport. I didn’t fall ill at all during my meal or afterwards so can definitely say they respected allergies and intolerances. Thank you all the team and especially the birthday boy who was our main server, hope he enjoyed the party back in Italy!More
