We first went to the deli next door for a coffee, atmosphere and coffee excellent. We also bought some arancini to take home for supper, best we’ve had for a long time
Then after a wander round the shops we went to the restaurant for lunch. Small and quiet, polite pleasant staff the food was very good, both starters and mains were tasty, the whole experience was authentic, and we thought extremely good value for money
We would not hesitate to return, but unfortunately we live 100 miles away ☹️
Without a doubt if you enjoy good homely Italian food in homely surroundings this is the place to go

We booked right back in August to make sure we got a table as it clearly a very popular restaurant. We got seated by the lovely staff our first impressions were good, a great menu and the place was so accommodating. We ordered the vegetable soup which arrived hot and was tasty and wholesome, the chicken in white wine and asparagus sauce and I ordered the seafood marinara. The main meals were beautiful and well presented The sauce on my husbands meal was delicious and the chicken was very succulent My meal was packed with seafood and was the best, lovely seasoning and great taste. We ordered a litre of wine to accommodate our meal which was excellent quality and not overpriced. We Chose a dessert from the good selections on offer, the tiramisu, again delicious all washed down with a complimentary limoncello for our anniversary. I can't recommend Volare enough it was so relaxing. Beautiful food and fantastic staff. We will be definitely be back

Went here on the last day of "eat out help out". Although small, the restaurant is very well organised and dishes are prompt to arrive. We ordered veal which tasted lovely, it came with new potatoes, cauliflower, carrots and green beans, all freshly cooked. We had the 1/2 carafe of red house wine which was good value for £10.95. We found room for pudding - I had profiterole, absolutely covered in chocolate sauce very yummy. My partner had ice cream which he said tasted lovely. Would definitely return here

Visited here with my wife and 2 daughters for an evening meal. The main restaurant was busy so we were offered a place to sit in the deli next door which was lovely and quaint with a real Italian feel (nicer than the main restaurant imo). The service was excellent, friendly and prompt but not too overbearing. The food was amazing probably the best Italian food I have ever had. I had the curried crab and avocado which was excellent. My wife had the aubergine and cheese starter which was the size of a main meal and cooked to perfection. The mains were equally cooked to perfection and very flavoursome. I couldn't fault any aspect of the service or the meal and will definitely make this my first choice for a meal out next time. It is worth mentioning that all the staff adhered to social distancing guidelines and wore masks at all times. The level of attention given to making the restaurant a safe place to eat was exceptional. A lovely evening thank you

We visited as tourists on a family break with four young children. We arrived bang on time, but had a 20 minute wait outside, before being shown to our table, originally booked for 7.30pm.
Service was slow throughout the meal. In the restaurants defence, we booked the table last minute for 7 of us, so the long wait was forgivable. The adults received their main courses at 9pm. Luckily we asked for children’s meals to come out with the starters, so they ate at 8.30pm.
The main criticism was the terrible wine. We selected a mid priced Sicilian white at £23, which was very yellow in colour. When asked to try the wine, it was not nice at all, but not corked so I couldn’t send it back. As we had such a long wait, we finished the wine by diluting it with soda, and we’re keen to order a better one. We ordered one of the most expensive wines, at £27.00. This was equally bad.
So in summary poor service, rip off wine, but THE FOOD WAS REALLY GOOD. Hence my 3/5 star review.

Parents took me after raving about it the week before. I ordered the most bland tasting bolognaise I think I’ve ever had. It needed an injection of flavour that was sadly lacking. My mother’s steak looked burnt (ordered medium) came very well done and was freezing. Wouldn’t go back in a hurry.

On our first visit here I had a pizza, which was one of the best tasting ones I've had for a while. My husband had the swordfish, which was well presented and he said it tasted delicious. We both had starters too, and so were too full for dessert.
On second visit, the night after, we both had steak, I had fillet with peppercorn sauce, of which there was plenty. My husband had the rib eye steak. Both meals tasted as good as they looked. We both loved it here and will definitely return. I recommend booking if you want to eat in the evening as it gets busy. All Covid 19 rules are in place and being followed. All good and varied meals on the menu too.

We have just enjoyed a lovely lunch at Volare. In these difficult times, the welcome is still warm and friendly and the food beautifully cooked and presented in generous portions. The rump of lamb with butternut squash was rich and delicious - it is the first time I have chosen it, but it definitely won’t be the last! My companions had their long-time favourites, four cheese pizza and tagliatelle rustica, and were very pleased with their choices, as usual!

We had an exceptional meal for our daughter's birthday on Sunday. The food just couldn't have been better and we were warmly welcomed by the staff. Even had the whole restaurant singing "Happy Birthday" to her - much to her embarrassment -but she enjoyed it enormously. Not the first time we have been here and certainly won't be the last,

My husband and I visited Volare for the first time just a week ago and really enjoyed the meal. As our son was visiting from abroad just a week later we decided to book it again. Sadly, it didn’t live up to our first experience. My husbands meal was OK but mine and my sons were really disappointing. My son had bolognese penne which he said tasted of absolutely nothing. I had a steak, which I asked for medium. When it arrived it looked as if it had been cremated and was served cold! The whole dish looked as if it had been thrown on the plate with a few cold frozen chips and dry salad leaves with a wedge of lemon thrown on top. Not sure what the lemon was about? I did mention that I was unhappy with my meal but nothing was done and we were still charged full price. The coffee was good though. There’s obviously several chefs as our first meal was lovely but then followed by one of the worst meals I’ve ever had. Sadly, we won’t be going for a third time.

So glad we booked a table for this restaurant during our short stay in Southport. It was a Monday evening in April but the place was packed! The staff were lovely, friendly and efficient, the prices were reasonable - what we would expect to pay for home cooked food at a genuine authentic Italian restaurant. Would definitely return! Era deliziosa!

We visited as a family of 4 on a Saturday evening and the place was busy with a nice atmosphere.
The food was, in general, excellent. The garlic and cheese pizza bread that we shared was delicious. As a starter I had the arancino special which came out cold in the middle but which they quickly replaced with a new, steaming hot dish. It was tasty, if a little bland in the middle, and I wasn’t blown away.
But then I had the mushroom risotto as a main and it was incredible! Perfect oozy risotto with the savouriness of mushrooms and the portion was huge! I would definitely recommend this dish.
We ordered a bottle of rose wine and decided on a pale one and that was also excellent. Crisp, light and refreshing and I will be searching for that everywhere!
The other food ordered was steak and chips with a peppercorn sauce that was deep and rich, pizza and a cannelloni which I personally found a touch too sweet for my taste, but all of which went down well with my family.
Overall we had a great time with lovely food and I would recommend this little place to anyone visiting Southport.

This is our favourite restaurant in Southport and there is nowhere better
for an anniversary meal. We had calamari and bresaola to start and to
follow steak and sea bass. All consumed with a bottle of excellent wine.
The food was delicious. Unfortunately we were unable to have desserts
because we were too full. We have been eating here since they opened
13 years ago and can honestly say we have never been disappointed.
We have already booked for xmas day, subject to covid, but no doubt
we will be visiting before then. Thank you to all at Volare.

Make sure you book early. Was hard to get in this place and on the second day of trying we could only get a 5pm time slot. So it’s popular! Our experience was a little underwhelming and none of the 5 guests enthused about their meal. One of the pizzas was quite ‘wet’ and the pasta dishes were only something like you may get at a supermarket. But it’s a nice place and a good atmosphere. The manager was friendly and the service was good. Maybe we did not choose the right dishes as, like I mentioned before, it’s certainly popular.

My partner and I were visiting the area and decided to try here after reading such good reviews
When I called to try to make a reservation, there was nothing available for the time I wished, but they took my name and number incase a cancellation occurred. Luckily it did and they called me to ask if I was still interested in a table. I thought this was really kind of them to do this
When we came to the restaurant it was completely full (apart from our table) which was a good sign of the quality of the food. The table was not quite ready so we were seated outside or a short while until we were informed it was ready.
The decor inside was nothing special, but everything smelt gorgeous. We got our drinks order in whilst we were browsing the menu and that came quickly. Time came to order our food and I ordered the Canneloni whilst my partner had the Penne Laguana (we also decided on a garlic bread between us).
When the food came I can honestly say it was fantastic. My partner and I enjoyed every mouthful and were sad when we became too full to finish!
Every server we encountered was lovely and it was the best meal of our stay in Southport
