Booked here because had seen and heard so many good reviews and thought right will give it a try on the Eat out to Help Out scheme and so booked over a week in advance because knew it was popular. Contact details were all taken and very friendly person and made you feel like you were going to enjoy this place even before going. We arrived and hand sanitizer on the wall at entrance, greeted by lovely lady who asked had we booked and said we had and gave name, she explained about the covid meaures of loss and markings on floor and how tables were spaced out and that we could order by queing at a safe distance at the end of the bar. I think you could also order at the table and pay if you wished as we saw an elderly couple do this and a group booking also do this. We had already had a look at the menu online and had decided to have the mixed grill. We ordered and paid and we despite it being very busy in there we didnt wait that long for our food to come. While we were waiting we saw a group leave and straight away the staff were on to clearing the tables and giving them a really good clean down and re- arranging to suit the next bookings that soon came in. So good cleaning of tables. The staff didnt have masks but they were very good with keeping their distance when serving.
When our food came, I thought, wow, this is best mixed grill seen. 1 nice proper butcher sausage, a piece of gammon, a pork steak, a lamb chop, and steak cooked to your requirement and egg and onion rings and chips and mushroom and peas. You could of had alternatives to chips like jacket potato, mash, fries, sweet potato fries, salad. also you could alternatives to peas, could of had, beans or mushy peas and there might of been something else too but forget. Everything was cooked perfectly, I was particularly impressed with the lamb chop as it was delicious and tender and moist as was all the meat. I couldnt eat all mine but my hubby ate every bit of his and then finished off mine too! He kept saying later, I have never been so full after just one course, I said no wonder cos you had some of mine as well so really not just one course was it!
Good table layout and great food and lovely staff. All fab. We definately will be back here to try other things on the menu.

I have reviewed the Mount Pleasant before , but I left out the Sunday dinner menu.
The Sunday dinner at the Mount is first class the beef and the lamb are delicious and you can still have food from the rest of the manual where there's something for everyone. Very friendly atmosphere and plenty of room for large parties.

Decided to have a impromptu Roast dinner at this pub, we were welcomed by lovely friendly staff and although we hadn’t booked they were very accommodating. Social distances
rules applied with use of hand sanitiser and tables well distanced, also had to fill in a quick track and trace form so if anyone in the pub on that day contracts covid can all be traced. The Roast Lamb dinner was beautiful and great price for the 2 course, lovely friendly family atmosphere and delicious food. Also very accommodating for children who came in as lots of space etc, would definitely return.

Well what can I say ? Amazing experience , took family for a meal and drinks .
From the minute we went in to the minute we left felt like home , Amazing food , great price honouring the 50% off , home cooked quality .
Covid secure precautions in place .
Paper menus .
Hand sanitisers, toilets immaculate !
Will be back most definitely 👏🏽👏🏽

The Mount Pleasant restaurant, was a pleasant suprise to find in Southport and well worth it with value.
Paying for the food and drinks is somewhat different = you order you drinks then pay for them - you order you main course then pay for it and the same with dessert.
It was so good, we went there twice.

My friend suggested here when we decided to go for lunch last week. I used to attend for the pub quizzes many moons ago, so agreed it’d be nice to try.
I ordered the ‘All Day Brunch’ for £6.75 and was astounded at how amazing it look when it arrived! Two sausage, two bacon, two eggs, black pudding, mushrooms, and chips (and beans but I had it without). It was so hot and fresh, I was a little mindblown at how delicious it was for such a cheap price.
It was enjoyed that much that I suggested it to my Dad 4/5 days later - I had the same again and my Dad had the Cod & Chips. Yet again, when it arrived, I couldn’t believe how good it looked! Super hot, fresh and clearly homemade. Dad didn’t say a word to me the whole time he was eating and said it was the best meal he’d had in an age.
Cannot recommend enough 😍🤤

I visited with friends, I rang up in advance to book a table and the lady in the phone was so helpful and polite. When we arrived, we was greeted by a lovely lady who sat us down and gave us menus. We ordered at the bar and again a different lady was so helpful and friendly when we ordered our food and drinks. The food is amazing and the price is great. We was all really happy with our food. Couldn’t fault it. I would give this place more stars if I could. Highly recommended! I wish I got the ladies names, they were lovely! Thanks ladies! X

My friend who lives in Southport recommended this pub as somewhere with a great local reputation and tasty, reasonably priced food.
It is on a main road and is a good size with lots of spaced out tables and areas to eat, away from the main bar.
We had lunch there, I had a jacket potato with beans and salad, and it was under six pounds. Even the beer was cheap! My friend shared some cheesy garlic bread and it was delicious, and my other friend said her panini was amazing.
The service was efficient and the lady who looked after us was polite and friendly. There were plenty of tables and everywhere was clean and tidy.
All in all we had a lovely lunch and I would recommend you give it a try.

Although the service was a bit slow the food was delicious. The fresh cod and sweet potato chips were cooked to perfection and the side of mushy peas to die for, just wish it had been a bigger bowl haha.
We enjoyed so much that we went back the following week

Not eaten here for a long while, so came here for tea with a friend.
We both had the mix grill, no starter or desert. It was filling and just right. It was hot and cooked perfect. The only thing I have to say was they could rest the meat/s on a seperate plate as had a lot off juices making the sweet potato fries a bit soggy. But if they did do that then no worries.
Would eat here again. Thanks.

Visited here a few times since lockdown and haven’t been let down once.
We’ve tried many different dishes such as scampi, mixed grill, chicken burger, steak baguette and all meals have been fantastic. Prices are very reasonable and the service is top knotch.
Safety precautions are fantastic and I definitely think the Mount is Covid 19 compliant.
Thank you to Joanne and team for always welcoming us and providing us with excellent service.

Disgusting behaviour from manger, bar staff member (apparently the mangers mother) and chef. Told ahead of time about a teenage member of family being diabetic.
Yet, having first getting the order wrong and the bar staff member laughing and scoffing when explaining why we need the dinner weighing out, and why my daughter would like cheese on her chips (yes strange behaviour).
The chef refused to help and sent a floor staff member out with the dinner and weighing scales. While other people were eating, other family members eating and in the middle of the restaurant.
Would have been happy to help if asked, However, the way it was handled was shocking. They had plenty of opportunity to say we don’t know how to do this can you assist.
We, naturally ask to talk to the manger. She came over and some were still eating including myself who wanted to talk with her. She came to the table and I asked if I could come find her in a minute as I was still eating, she would not agree, was beyond rude and confrontational.
I ended up leaving having not even finished my dinner as was not lowering myself to this strange behaviour or sticking around. Other people left, it then took another family member 30 minutes before being thrown £40 back (were 12 of us).
This was all done in front of other people eating. Everyone was stressed, had either, not eaten, not finished or it had gone cold. The manager blamed the floor staff, all very polite and friendly (guys get out of there, you’re worth more!).

Proper pub grub. It’s an absolute bargain and the food is great. The menu is varied, from sandwiches to steak to curry and beyond. The staff are friendly and it’s always clean. They do a discounted menu during the day as well which looks like even MORE of a bargain.
This place is somewhat of a gem and more people should eat here.

Visted the Mount Pleasant recently on a lovely sunny afternoon for a quick lager. The weather was beautiful and we sat outside. After a quenching lager we decided to have a light bite. Fab menu, and hard to choose but we ended up having Nachos and Potato Chips in Skins mmmmmm delicious . We had a selection of sauce dips and the Nachos were fabulous with tons of melted cheese and jalapeños . Lovely welcome by the Landlady Jo, and staff lovely and get it just right in terms of being attentive but not overly so. Pub highly covid compliant which just makes you feel that little bit safer. Toilets immaculate which is always a selling point for me. Will be back Thankyou for a lovely afternoon.

Ordered fish and chips was asked if I wanted small or large. I ordered the large and was charged extra which I thought was ok as I would get a big bit of fish. When it came to the table is was less that 5 inches and over battered, also there was only 10 chips on the side. I asked the waitress if this was the large she came back to me and said it was. If that was the large then I'd hate to see the small. Won't be going back again. Service was also bad waited along time at the bar to be served.
