Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We stayed here for a birthday night away for my wife. What a lovely b n b in a lovely village. The room had everything you need with lots of little touches. They had even got a card and present for my wife. We also...took our dog and they had a present for him too. Great people in a lovely setting. Thanks Carolynne and George.More

Night away with the wife, hosts very welcoming when we arrived, the young lady took us to our room, which was delightful. Very clean room and ensuite was excellent with toiletries. Plenty of teas n coffees in room and milk in fridge on landing. We...went out for a meal and came back and pub was really busy, it was pizza night and it was rammed. Great selections of beers ciders snd spirits. Staff were very helpful and certainly earned their wages. Would definitely stop again, room cost £80 and included breakfast. Lots of cereals juices and thoroughly enjoyed itMore

My family stayed at the B&B and they couldn’t speak highly enough of the owners, they had a 5 star stay yet again, the owners really go above and beyond expectations and genuinely care about their guests. We met our family for pizza night to...celebrate their Anniversary and had a fantastic time ,staff were very friendly and attentive, they couldn’t do enough for us even though they were very busy. The pub has such a welcoming, homely feel, we didn’t want to leave. Very accommodating for children, our little girl said “I loved it at the pub” We all will definitely return very soon.More

Enjoyed a wonderful weekend including a special Events evening on our Golden Wedding anniversary with relatives who live in the village and Bishop. Nothing was too much trouble for George and family, and the roses and personalised card which greeted us on arrival in our...room were a perfect example of the attention to detail. We have stayed here before, and will certainly be back. Pam & Brian Thompson, Philippa & Gareth Martyn.More

Visited in May when we had to travel for a funeral. Room is amazing and cleanliness second to none, we stayed in room 5 which in our opinion is more like a 5 star hotel rather than a b and b. All of the little...touches are there and the goody bags for the furry customers are a wonderful touch. Carolynne, George, Jess and Graham make you feel welcome from the start and do everything they can to make your stay the best. The breakfasts are delicious, most veggie breakfasts are insipid but theirs is superb. We have stayed here several times and can heartily recommend this oasis of calm and kindness to everyone. We will be back. Thank you to all of them team. XMore

Stayed here a few weeks ago and had an amazing time so when the need for a quick trip north happened there was only one place to stay. We were accommodated at short notice in the wonderful spotless room five, and as luck would have...it it was pizza night so had amazing pizzas as well. Thank you once again and we shall be back in December for the amazing breakfast.More

Stayed here for three nights and had the most fantastic stay. We were made to feel welcome from the very start and nothing was too much trouble. The room was amazing and immaculate with a beautiful view of the woods. The breakfast was perfect and...the scrambled eggs were superb. To operate to such a high standard in such difficult times is difficult but this place has perfected every part of the service. We shall be back soon especially for the Gin night. Thank you to you all for a wonderful time.More

My husband & I booked to stay at The Vic B & B for one night as we were attending a Wine & Cheese Evening so driving home wasn't an option. We checked into Room 4 which is a double room with a great view...of the local countryside but unfortunately not on a grim December day!! When we retired after a great night, the room was warm & welcoming and the bed & pillows were perfect. Although the shower room was small we had everything we needed with lovely fluffy towels and toiletries. Having a magnifying mirror in the room was appreciated as was the generous hospitality tray. We'd pre-ordered breakfast which George served, accompanied by a cafetiere of excellent coffee. Although our stay was short, we would certainly recommend The Vic as a gem of a family run B & B.More

My partner and I were in Bishop Auckland and came across this cosy B+B. We booked it over the phone, and were immediately told that there was availability. We had been driving most of the day, so it was a relief to find we had...somewhere to stay. We arrived and were taken to the room, given a flask with milk, for our hot drinks. We settled into our room. It was a cosy, and had a stunning view. We were told that we could order a take away, which we did. We were given plates, cutlery and ordered drinks, while we had our takeaway dinner. The next morning, we had a freshly prepared breakfast, which was delicious. We then departed and headed back to London. 200 miles down the motorway, I realised i had left my purse (which had my card, drivers license, car keys, house keys).. of course, we were too far down south to return. I immediately called the Inn and spoke to the manager, who confirmed my purse was there. He then arranged to have it sent to me the next day, which he did. My purse arrived the following day, with everything exactly as I had left it. The service we received here, was second to none. I highly recommend you visit and enjoy the hospitality. I give this lovely little Inn a 10/10. We'll definitely be back. xxxMore

We stayed at the Victoria for just one night but we were very impressed with the standard of the room.
