Normally, I love this restaurant and bring everyone here so was super disappointed when I brought a business connection from the City to enjoy Scottish hospitality, and it all turned nasty. At first the soup and service started well. They offered my daughter a colouring...book.
The waitress, an Irish lady initially seemed kind and caring. However, just as the main course was served, my daughter devoured her pudding of brownie and vanilla ice-cream and subsequently started vomiting . She threw up everything that she had eaten and her throat started to close. For a mum of a youngster, this is a terrifying experience.
We never got the chance to try the main because we were served Pistachio ice-cream instead of vanilla to which my daughter had an allergic reaction. We specifically asked for vanilla ice-cream and avoided nuts but the waitress contradicted me in front of my business colleague saying that I hadn't said she wasn't to have nuts and that I didn't ask for vanilla instead. I started to doubt my own sanity at a time when I was already really distressed.
The waitress proceeded to argue and lecture me on not declaring an allergy (how can someone declare an allergy when the child has never previously had an allergic reaction?).
Luckily I recognised the symptoms being a nurse. To add insult to injury, the waitress then took ages to get the bill as she insisted on fighting with me and continued lecturing me about how the brownie had pistachio's not the ice-cream however, my daughter hadn't even tasted the brownie. At a time where time equals life, it really wasn't fitting for the waitress to be telling me off in front of a business partner, a room full of people and my child. I paid 111 pounds for them to poison my child, serve two bowls of soup, and lecture me in front of a room full of people. We were in A & E until 4.00 am.
Whilst I normally love this venue, food and service, following on from this experience, I would not recommend this restaurant to families.More
