Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

There's plenty to choose from on the menu, but there could be one or two more vegetarian options. The staff were great with us; friendly and attentive and we were brought our drinks and food in good time and the Australian man in the kitchen/ waiting our table was very friendly. The only thing that I would say needs to be improved on is the investment of some good extraction fans - the place does tend to smell of cooking oil and the smoke is clearly visible in the atmosphere of the both the restaurant and bar area.

Our trip to the Kilted Kangaroo was spontaneous and we were so lucky to come across a restaurant so welcoming and unique. The food was extraordinary, the menu itself was a melange of Australien and Scottish food with lots of vegetarian options. Chef Vie prepared a Pizza , fries with haggis , ribs and salads for us and we were shocked by the sheer quality and fine taste of the food. Everything was well seasoned, presented beautifully and quickly made. Barman Rob provided outstanding service, his warm and friendly service will drag us back to the Kilted Kangaroo in no time.
The decor is worth a mention, for so much effort and thought went into the beautiful interior design.
All in all a 10/10 experience and well worth the money.

Having been a visitor here on a number of occasions I had high hopes for my birthday meal, however it hasn’t half changed.
When we visited the place was relatively quiet so expected the good service we had been used to in the past, silly me.
We ordered drinks at table which after 20 minutes still hadn’t arrived I then went to bar looking for them and noticed them sitting on a tray, when I asked the server if they were ours she said yes but weren’t brought over because they were busy! No one at bar apart from staff!!!
I then had to carry the drinks over.
Eventually food orders were taken (I think it was the same day). Huge wait for that to come , nothing fancy ordered as a few items were unavailable, all burgers when they came were burnt black and served with extras which weren’t ordered, chips were either burnt or so greasy.
I ordered a spicy pizza which as any pizza should do was advertised as being with mozzarella however this pizza came with cheddar cheese baked on which was

Numerous issues, firstly tables are very sticky, this is only worsened with the outdoor tables where cigarette ash is stuck to tables. Menu is inaccurate, for example “the 8hour smoked brisket” is just an extremely over cooked roast rump, “steak cut chips” are just skin on fries which came in one cohesive lump. The macaroni is stodgy and made my partner physically vomit, we also ordered chicken wings which of course were also extremely over cooked and garnished with raw chilli flakes. Beers arrived to table flat and in dirty glasses. We used to eat here often and were disappointed to see the prices have sky rocketed whilst the standards have plummeted. We spent £49 on our lunch and ended up having to go round the corner for a Baynes.

Hi 357blairp
please let me begin by offering a full apology for the negative experience you had here at Kilted Kangaroo
We pride ourselves on not just meeting our guests expectations, but attempting to exceed them where possible.
the particular day of your visit, over the bank holiday weekend and also our "Birthday bash" as you would have seen, was extremely busy in the garden especially due to the great weather, as we don't book tables out side and run a first come first serve system, we unfortunately, occasionally have customers leaving a table and another sitting on that table before our team have the chance to wipe and reset the table, especially on such a busy day when there were no free tables, my biggest concern is that this was not done for you when you informed our team of your dirty table, obviously assuming that you did indeed inform them?
I'm also concerned that the our locally sourced brisket, that we slow cook on sight in our Bradley smoker for 8hrs was somehow switched out for rump, trust me I will investigate this to find out why this would be the case and can only apologise for this and to the 27 other guests who had the "brisket" and didn't notice.
Our Hand cut chips are indeed hand cut onsite with the skin on, and you are correct, we do serve them together in a bowl rather than separately I'm afraid.
I will address the stodgy macaroni with our chefs to ensure this is not the case in the future, along with reviewing the fresh chilli garnish for our wings.
My main concern is that with all these issues you had that had clearly upset you that much that you have created a trip-advisor account for the sole purpose as to review us, that this serious level of complaint was not passed to myself or another manager when you approached one of our servers or managers to point out these faults and give us a chance to rectify these issues, again assuming you did indeed point this out.
We don't always get things right and will strive to do better in the future, with this said we encourage our guests to let us know as soon as there is an issue, even though these incidents are rare, they do still happen and most problems can be rectified quickly and without fuss in order to minimise any negative impact on their visit.
Thank you again for your feed back
kind regards
Bobby :-)

Went for Sunday dinner, after being advised by staff, on Saturday night, "food great and fantastic pub". Saturday had drinks, good music and a welcoming place to be on Saturday.
However, we don't know what happened by Sunday, thought we were in a different establishment. Ordered drinks at bar, politely asked how to order food, growled at by the barman, told round there!.
Once we seated ourselves, staff did not approach us. Four times, we had to get up from our table and firstly to ask for menus or how to order food, as staff too busy chatting to each other. Then for condiments and then to find salt and pepper and lastly to ask for the bill.
Food average but okay, had to approach staff to pay the bill. Totally ignored throughout all of the meal, unwelcoming, uninterested,
unmotivated and rude staff. Never been in a restaurant like it, felt very uncomfortable.

Was in the kilted kangaroo which I have been going to for over ten years and would always recommend for food but today felt extremely let down by the over priced tiny portion of chips and cheese. £6 for a hand full of chips. A shame as this was one of my go to pubs for food.

Came in for mine and my partner's 10 month anniversary. I have been in numerous times before and never had a complaint. But this time is completely different. We both ordered the kangaroo fillet and was charged £19 for something that we both finished in a few bites!!! The chips were like what you get from your local chip shop and the salad!! If I was a vegan, I'd be in paradise with the amount of salad we were given, the salad took well over half the plate. I was so disappointed with what we had got that we finished our food and drinks and went somewhere else to get a quick bite as we didn't eat a lot (We ate the steak as it was quite good but I left most of the chips and all of the salad, my partner left most of his salad and chips as well). Unless management change their ways, we definitely wont be back in anytime soon. So upset and disappointed

Great music, great service, great food!
What a fun family dinner! Nothing too serious, huge food portions to get messy with and some fab cocktails to wash it all down.
Awesome service from Alannah too - fab experience and we’ll be back! Where else can you get ostrich, crocodile and kangaroo after all!!

The KK is a bit out of the way. Up a side street and through an entry. It is a pleasant bar with a good-sized seating area / restaurant off from the main bar. There’s not a lot of seats / stools in the bar, but that may be for busy weekends. The cod Tuesday I was here, it was fine. They don’t serve the Scottish staple (Tennent’s) however, it is available in large bottles chilled. The bar plays live sports on the several TV’s. The heating was working well and gave the place a comfortable feel. There’s lots of neon signs and paraphernalia on the walls and the toilets are good for a city centre bar.

Terrible food, could taste the fingers of the guy who made the burger, and they weren’t nice tasting fingers. Drinks are poor - pints were flat, slushies didn’t even have any alcohol in them, and that was about as far as the menu went. Service? Well they hid us away in a horrible table in the corner! Also they don’t even sell certain drinks past 9pm! Oh and overpriced!!!! Won’t be back

Hi 433loganh
I'm so sorry to hear you had a bad experience with us. We usually get great reviews about our burgers and I'm sorry we didn't do more at the time to rectify your problem as we hate that you felt unsatisfied.
We are sorry you felt hid away in away in a corner - when we are busy we try to use all of our tables efficiently to maximise the amount of people we can fit in to the restaurant.
If you'd like to discuss this further please email me at lauren@kiltedkangaroo.com to see if we can resolve these issues and hopefully plan to welcome you back in the future.
Best wishes,
Lauren

Visited yesterday for lunch, temp checked on arrival, staff were great explaining the new system to us and, thereby, lies the problem. The ordering system. You have to scan a barcode on your table to order. My phone wouldnt work, my friend's phone wouldnt work so I had to download a QR reader app. Eventually got started but EVERYTHING has to be ordered separately ie gin then tonic (from a separate list), Malibu then coke, etc. My friend was driving so wanted a soda water and lime. Not possible as no dashes on the menu! Same palaver with food. Except there isn't a gluten-free choice on the menu! Why can't the staff just write down your order as normal? You'll not get drunk that's for sure and I'm sure they'll have lost a lot of their regular customers because of this. Never again!

We have never been to Kilted Kangaroo before and decided as part of the Eat out to help out we would go. Well we were not disappointed!
We were met by Lori who explained all the procedures perfectly and took all our temperatures to ensure we complied with Covid 19 conditions.
We ordered a lot of food thinking the portions would be small.... That was a mistake!
Veg fajitas, 2 veg cajun pasta, cajun pizza, 2 chips and onion rings. I wish I had taken more pictures as the food was perfect. The food tasted excellent.
My first visit to this restaurant and it certainly won't be my last. We are already planning next week.
As a complete bonus it is very reasonably priced.
Thanks to all the staff who worked very hard. Fanastic visit and we all loved our visit

Do not go here ever. There is no atmosphere. The bar staff are aggressive and unhelpful. There are absolutely no plus points for this place. Stirling boasts some of the best bars in the country - Curly Coo, Nicky Tams, Portcullis - why on earth would you go to a place devoid of charm? Stirling, and nowhere else for that fact, requires an Australian themed anything. This dive is a skid mark on the pants of a beautiful city and giving them your money makes you part of the problem. Help us starve them out.

Went along to try something a bit different. Due to Covid, you had to order and pay using a QR Code reader - straight forward enough.
When we browsed the menu, it did not have Kangaroo burgers on it - a bit like going into KFC and being told they have no chicken. Nice enough place, good quality food and plenty of it, friendly staff.
