Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I visited this Restaurant today with my Mother who is in a wheelchair. I had checked beforehand and saw that it was accessible for a disabled person. Unfortunately although there was access, the toilet was up a flight of stairs. My Mother managed this with...great difficulty but it would have been impossible for someone permanently using a wheelchair. Perhaps the website should mention this? I asked for a Bloody Mary, and was told by our lovely waitress Agnes that they didn’t serve this quite normal cocktail. The menu was quite limited and not the same one as shown on the website. We decided not to eat at The Boathouse. The staff were quite apologetic and said they were hoping to make changes to the Restaurant to accommodate all guests. As we didn’t eat anything I can only comment on the accessibility and drinks menu!More

We visited the Boathouse for a special birthday meal, the service was exceptional and all of the courses on the Taster menu were fabulous. We were so impressed by the flavours, presentation and attention to detail. The wine pairing was a great experience and we gained...so much from David sharing his knowledge on all the wines, grapes and vineyards. Overall we had a fantastic evening in the Boathouse and we would recommend it to anyone visiting Boathouse.More

Our family group experienced the taster menu on Saturday with the wine flight. It certainly was wow! An explosion of flavours in your mouth. All courses were perfectly presented and tasted amazing. The selected wines really complemented the food and I loved the Californian Viognier....Our waiters were knowledgeable and friendly and the whole experience was awesome. Nearly 5 hours of food and wine heaven! The restaurant catered for my burger eating son too! The building is full of character. Highly recommend.More

Our visit for dinner last night was the first of what will certainly be many more. The welcome we received, as well as the quality and inventiveness of the cuisine, were of the very highest order. We stuck to the a la carte menu although...were tempted by the Tasting Menu and were not disappointed. The fusions of different tastes were remarkable. The choice of wines and the advice from the sommelier, who really knows everything about each wine, were superb. All in all, this was by far the best meal we have experienced for a long long time.More

We have been coming to the Boat House for quite a few years, and the food, the wine and service are consistently of the highest standard. This is without doubt the best restaurant in the Bangor area.

My husband and I visited on a Friday night in Jan for my birthday. From the minute we were greeted at the door and shown to our seats, until we left 4 hours later we had a very special dining experience. The only option that...night was a six course tasting menu which we had booked for. We were presented with the Gin menu to start which we availed off (rude not too). We then had our six courses which included a further two amuse-bouche during the meal. We chose the wine pairings to match our meal. The Sommelier was very knowledgeable and explained each wine in detail before our food arrived. With the tasting menu you don't get a menu but they do ask if you don't like specific food types or have any allergies. It made the night more enjoyable trying to guess your next course by the wine you just got poured. At the end of the night we finished with another gin and were presented with a printed menu with my name on it as "my birthday menu," lovely touch. I can't praise the boat house enough for the evening we had. Amazing time with great food, wine and chat in a very relaxed atmosphere. Thanks againMore

The restaurant feels intimate and classy with the table s well spaced. We had the five course with matching wines. We got to share a dessert and cheese so that was a bonus plus 2 amuse-bouches, so amazing variety of tastes. The wines were perfect...from champagne to start, white, red, and dessert wine. The sommelier/maitre d' was so knowledgeable about the food and matching wines and took time to explain and check for allergies and preferences and satisfaction. The waitress was perfect also, sorry i didn't get names. If you want to spoil yourself this is the place to go. We stayed in the salty dog across the road on a amazing value package on Wednesday and thursdaysMore

Check with your bank manager before you book! Cost us (2) well over £100 for lunch & we didn’t have a starter! It’s also Nuvel cuisine and you will most probably have to get a snack on the way home! The service was excellent but...it wasn’t for us! Far too expensive for our liking and there are far too man good restaurants now to spend that much money for 1/2 a meal & I don’t care how good the food is!More
