Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The pub itself is lovely in a nice countryside setting. it would have been even nicer had the fire been on! Toilets were clean and fresh. I went here for Lunch. Good selection of food and drink and tasted great! I had a dessert and...a coffee which I thought was quite pricy. I don’t agree with a service charge being added automatically to your bill it should be the customers choice!! Other than that an enjoyable meal. Will probably return however other pubs in the area offer blue light discount..More

We went for lunch with family and friends on our traction engine. There was quite a lot of us but our food came quickly and it was hot, freshly cooked and delicious. The staff could not have been more helpful and were really lovely.

I visited for Sunday lunch with my elderly father. The roast dinner was really tasty, great quality and good value for money. The side dish of vegetables were excellent and the pudding was delicious. The service was wonderful. The staff were attentive, efficient and really...pleasant. Nothing was too much trouble. Even the owner was visiting the tables to check that everything was ok. The pub is clean, spacious and comfortable and welcomes everyone. I would definitely recommend this pub to family and friends. Well done 🙌More

Popped in for a spot of lunch to get out of the rain! Pub was warm cosy and decorated beautifully. The staff were attentive and efficient and food arrived very quickly, asked for my bacon extra crispy on my BLT and the chefs did it...perfectly! Great selection of local ales on tap too!More

Worst steak we have had for a long time!! We are regulars and have always returned to the Egerton, one of the main reasons being the quality of the steak. Tonight myself and my partner both ordered the fillet steak and what arrived was what...we would describe as watery steak hache! Both the texture and taste were awful. We had a few mouthfuls and left the rest. We are assuming there has been a change in chef / supplier. We usually recommended the egerton to all our friends and family but now we won’t be returning and we will definitely be telling friends and family of our bad experience.More

we called in today for a spot of lunch whilst passing through, we have eaten here before but on this occasion we were really disappointed with the food. we sat outside in the beer garden with the weather being so nice, whilst sipping our drinks...we decided to look through both the lunch and main menu. my husband decided on the braised ox liver which he said was nice but extremely over priced for what it was. I had the nachos sharing platter, and a ham and cheese sourdough roll with dressed salad, when it arrived I think my face said it all!!! it looked dried up brown seeds roll, not sourdough, I even said to my husband that I think that it had been frozen, couldn't make up my mind as it was over toasted, dry and tasteless, it didn't say on the menu it was toasted, I wouldn't have had it other wise so in the end I started to eat my sharing platter of nachos, well who could say that anyone dosent like nachos, well these were TERRIBLE, a merger amount of cheese, salsa, sour cream, on a what only I can say are the cheapest nachos Aldi sell. I honestly wished that I had taken photos of all the food, especially what I had ordered, terrible ,,,I don't know who came up with that as a sandwich, I don't mind what prices we pay for food as long as its good but honestly, anyone who reads this review please don't waste your hard earned cash in the place, ill never stop while passing again.More

Arrived at 7:30pm on bank holiday Sunday to find it was completely empty. Odd because when we have visited on a number of occasions it was always busy. List of things not available. Ordered three Sunday roasts and a steak and ale pie. We’re told...that carrot and swede mash had run out so ordered extra veg to replace. Four roasts turned up so one went back for change, and extra veg forgotten. The meat was good, but the potatoes and veg gave the impression they had been lying around for a long period. Roast potatoes were hard, and the Yorkshire was dark brown and tough. Sweets were fine. Not offered coffee so it was requested, to be told the coffee machine had been turned off, so refused! Staff were predominantly young kids who didn’t know what they were doing. A service charge was also added, which frankly was a bit of a cheek! This place used to be very good. We were told the manager who has been there a while, and who kept the place very well, was on holiday. Maybe so, but we’ll avoid this for a good while.More

Dreadfull, first of all you get a service charge and you only find that out when you've paid and got your bill 7.1% which in our case came to nearly £6 ,if they warned you of this before you went in they'd probably loose a...lot of custom ,right the meal ,ordered 3 meals firstly my stepdaughters ,pepperoni pizza, she had one bite, an left the rest £15 in napkins and then our bin ,my partners meal steak and ale pie with chips ,£15 the pie was just out of a foil case and warmed ,the peas were dry and wrinkled. re heated definitely not fresh ,the chips again re heated ,soggy horrible ,plus a few stragglers of salad ,my meal sirloin steak and chips ,£23 ,the steak was rubbery I've had a £5 steak from tescos better, and again the chips soggy definitely reheated ,when we got home rang and the manager said we do double cook our chips ,absolute drivel ,reheated, he then said email the boss ,we did he replied asking what the problem was ,we told him and now we've just been ignored ,my money doesn't grow on trees ,and with our 1 drink each it came to £78 I nearly hit the deck ,so my advice for anyone visiting this place keep clear and you'll get better value at McDonald'sMore

We have eaten here fairly regularly in the past, but for a number of reasons this was our first visit this year. Monday evening with only a handful of customers. Three items on the menu not available. Our resulting food choice was good. A "discretionary"...7.5% service charge is added to the bill, as mentioned on the menu, on delivery to the table now which goes 'directly to the staff'. I find this approach VERY presumptuous. As a customer it should be I who chooses whether service warrants an addition for the staff, and to what extent, and not have to decide whether a pre selected amount should be reduced or withdrawn!More
